The index scored is a poor 147 bro

This is a real shocker for me. Still can't believe my eyes. Had the 408t delayed by a month, 407 will be parked in my garage. Was negotiating for one, and a year or two later would have gone for the 508 GT. Love the turbo diesel la! Would have missed all you guys......hehehe!

Auto connect here we referring to:
Bluetooth of your phone left it to on all the time. Den each time you turn off your engine, went down to do your stuff, den back on to your car, start your engine. You need not do anything on your phone, u may just keep your phone in your pocket or bag, it auto connect to your car system again. So far my S3 working flawless on this.

If your iPhone need to on/ off to reconnect it for each time u reenter your car, it's not auto connecting.

Not so soon la bro. But am eying the X1 turbo diesel perhaps 3 years time. 508GT also serious contender, but prefer an SUV for it's versatility!

By that time there would be much better cars la bro. As it is, the hybrid A6 is already looking highly desirable and at a price that you wouldn't need to sell a kidney just to buy. Just imagine the kind of cars we will get in 3 to 4 years time biggrin.gif

Question for those of you on 6 speed auto with 1.6L THP engine

If you slow down to a stop by lifting your foot off the pedal, does the car jerk like a galloping horse at around 40-30 kph?
Assuming you don't step on the brakes.

I guessing it is because the RPM is dropping too low and the gear has not dropped low enough to match.

there is a clutch and that's the jerk you're experiencing when slowing down and picking up speed

True,true.....but I don't have deep pockets. So price is going to a big factor in the decision.

I am very pleased with this Aisin 6spd gb. Upshifts and downshifts have been quite smooth. I usually lift my foot off the pedal and gentle brake application. I've not experienced the galloping horse, did notice a slight jerk, but only very few times. If it's harsh as a galloping horse, then you should check it out with SC.

Do u mean that you find it comfotable that Skoda is 10th place and VW is 23rd place? Also, would consumer find it acceptable that in their(VW's) drive to become the world no.1 car manufacturer by volume, no doubt they have let slip on some quality issues. But their volume of cars sold also easily 2x/3x/4x even compared to some of their continental rivals. 'If the manufacturing defect is set at 0.05% of the total volume of cars sold, that number would also scale accordingly to their total volume of cars sold. Hence, the result is nothing new nor surprising at all.', Can VW even use that as a sorry excuse for their poorer reliability performance?

Yes, granted that you have the dough to buy a bimmer, an Audi, would you not seeing this turn your attention to say, Mercedes?

I mean honest doesn't this bother you?

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/339

score 162 for Passat

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/234

score 147 for Pug 407 (the predecessor of 508)

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/64

score 142 for Citroen C5

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/95

score 62 for Ford Mondeo

(The UK Reliability index takes into account all factors of a repair, the cost of the parts and the frequency of failures - The Average of all cars is 100 which means that if the figure for the car you are looking at has a higher than average index (118) it indicates that that car is less reliable than the average, if however there is a lower than average index (60) the reliability is better.)

No Japs, no Korean, just see how Passat stacked against Pug and Ford, You can accept this!?
Hey, the Kia Picanto got a reliability index of 26%. Imagine that! rclxm9.gif

Don't need to worry about this too much.

Since they take into account cost, of course more expensive cars will have a worse rating.
Cheaper smaller cars are likely to have a better rating.
Example, if you buy a Porsche you know maintenance is going to be higher than if you buy a KIA picanto.

A better comparison would be if they compared how much time was required to repair a car on average.

Time needed to repair (in days) is here too in the link , see http://www.reliabilityindex.com/manufacturer/AvgLabour

I have also sensed cheaper /smaller cars have better rating because having simpler/older or proven tech (manufactured at larger volume and automation/skills achieved to near perfection) sure more reliable.

But as a consumer, u can still compare the car by price level by selecting those cars in the same price range and click COMPARE.

Or by Size, either small compact to whatever size u fancy, just select the appropriate lists ,see http://www.reliabilityindex.com/ratings
