Dude, if you are rooted you will never get an OTA update. If you can root, you can download from sammobile and flash your own update.

The hubs don't work in boleh-land, and moreso if you're rooted.

hmm, what if I rooted using ExynosAbuse, and then I just install gl2sd to transfer my files to ext SD card, then currently I removed fully SuperSU via it's own app, and I'm unrooted again. LOL. I would still get OTA updates am I right? On Stock ROM though... hahaha..

Don't think your GLtoSD will work as it needs root to mount the folders.

So...HTC demands a dev to remove all custom roms using the Sense UI

http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1...even_my_custom/

http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/01/24/ht...oms-and-domain/

HTC has generally left the custom ROM community to its own devices, apart from individuals who actively sought to publish unreleased HTC software. This has allowed a thriving Sense ROM community to emerge on XDA, RootzWiki, and other hubs of developer collaboration. But the shuttering of HTCRUU may be a shift to a stance of more active policing for the company.

The shutdown resulted in the removal of all files from HTCRUU, whether stock or custom Sense-based ROMs, and the eventual transferring of the domain to HTC (on grounds of trademark infringement). Any such files in temporary storage (eg, http://androidfiles.org/ruu/) must also be cleared out.
======================
Some of the comments are insightful. Apparently this is not the first PR f/up (for the dev community at least) that HTC has made.

Samsung hasn't gone down this route ... yet ... we only hope they never. Success can bring hubris.

Why some users still so obessed with OTAupdates
Whether root or unroot easiest just download from sammobile.com n flash in PC using odin
Your phone will auto unroot if rooted
Once official update out it will be available too at sammobile
No need to go through frustration of update failure midway or waiting for it n no idea when you can get it

Possible Samsung will follow too. Seriously how many users bother to flash n mod their phones . 5%, 10% probably that is the limit
At least in my circle of friends 99%of them dont . They just use it right out of the box. Here we see enthusiasts but in reality majority dont even know they can mod it.
Phone UI is proprietary to each manufacturer n stopping all mods to it is their right
A few % of users will be dissapointed only

HTC are generally with better build quality n more solid/classy looking vs Samsung
These are more important features to some buyers

This I have to agree as well, HTC phones built quality are great, but on the same time Samsung go for a different approach, which is slimmer profile but more plasticky.

Hey guys.. Finally got my note 2!

Loving it so much. However I'm getting quite bad quality when I'm playing music in car over via bluetooth.

Note 1 quality was excellent.. This one is pretty bad. Or am I missing something?

It is official rom . So no increase in flash counter n not modified
It is exactly same as updating through OTA
Intact chance you soft brick updating OTA through incomplete update is much higher than flashing yourself . The chance you fail through Odin is negligible

Flash counter will not increase if you flash any of the official firmwares from sammobile and the status will be Normal as long as you stay unrooted but there is a way to make it stay at Normal even if you are rooted... biggrin.gif
