I just stumbled upon this year 2010 review of the Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi Turbodiesel by Paul Tan. The engine in this vehicle is a 2.0 Duratorq which produces 134 horsepower and a class-leading 320Nm of torque. It was mentioned that the 2.0 TDCi’s 320Nm can also be boosted 20Nm up to a total of 340Nm for a short period of 8 seconds, although the ECU manages this feature automatically.

In the article the Focus TDCi is mentioned to only manage 9.8 seconds in a 0-100km/h acceleration. Any ideas or thoughts why the acceleration with that massive 320Nm of torque is a "slow" 9.8s, since the current Focus is capable of sub-8.0 seconds in 0-100km/h with just 202Nm of torque? The TDCi also uses the Powershift dual-clutch transmission, and although it may be slightly different from the transmission that is in the current Focus model, the significantly higher amount of available torque could have offset the difference.

diesel engine not much responsive compare to petrol (even NA)

I have driven our company's Mitsubishi Pajero Sport 2.5 which runs on diesel and the acceleration feels lethargic. Could be the weight of the thing(kerb weight is 1935kg which is about 600kg heavier than the Focus). The Focus feels very light and nimble in comparison due to good balance in torque and horsepower. The acceleration power is certainly impressive in its class.

cannot compare large SUV to sedan segment C

petrol focus only less around 100kg compare to heavy diesel engine.

you need to know how the diesel engine work , then u'll know why diesel ride feel lethargic

low rpm vs high rpm... sprint up to 100kmh..focus petrol only need up to gear 2 ..but diesel maybe 3-4th gear already

A bit short of time, can still try thou. I booked last Sat, until today it's not approved, it's quite strict in getting loan nowadays, which personally I think is a good thing for the nation.

And by the way, it's by 30th Oct 2013, not 31st Oct.
