As you said, either one is good for you smile.gif
Y580 run warmer though.

However, since the apps you listed can't utilise SLI, then at stock configuration, Y580 with GT660M actually slightly outperform Y500 with single GT650M tongue.gif

Both should give you satisfaction spec wise. Then why not go out and look at the real thing, and let external appearance determine your choice laugh.gif

Thanks sifu, I think I'm gonna choose Y500 with sli.

1. Preferred Brand: Asus, or any other brand if the price and spec are better
2. Budget: below RM1500, or cheapest, which ever suitable
3. Usage: for basic programming, windows visual studio, oracle and future learning programs (I'm a Software Engineering student), no gaming, maybe some music or videos
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: the smaller the better

and the most important is, if can the processor should be Intel i5

Hi all the sifus... need laptop recommendations here.

1. Preferred Brand : HP, but any brand also ok (preferably wont too fast rosak)
2. Budget : Up to rm2800
3. Usage : Basic websurfing, medium gaming, watching movies
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 or 15.6 inch also can

Note: I'm now currently looking at:
1 - Pavilion G4-2205/2206/2207TX, i5-3210M + AMD HD7670M [2.19kg], 2GB ,500GB(5400rpm), W8, colors: white/red/black
or
2 - A45VS-VX028H, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2899[2.4kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8
or
3 - A45VS-VX026H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT645M@RM2199[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB, W8

Which brand is more durable and trust worthy? (i'm studying in indonesia, so preferably got international warrantee). And is it worth it to get an i7 core if i dont do too much heavy gaming?

Thank you =)

1. Preferred Brand: anything
2. Budget: Rm2500
3. Usage: Work on the go. Mobility is a must.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: ~14"

I'm looking for something that can have the hard drive swapped out for an SSD. I afraid buy already then the HDD so hard to change .__. Or even better one with an ssd.
I know an ultrabook at this price is wishful thinking but are there any?

14" asus
S46CM-WX023V, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2399[2kg], 4GB, W7HP

lenovo
Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm) W8, colors: grey/red/blue

in this case recommend get Asus because it is ultrabook, the graphic card is a bit lousier than z480 but sure can stay longer than it

for 15.6"
Asus
A55VJ-SX093H, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT635M@RM2499[2.52kg], 4GB, 750GB, W8; color: black
S56CM-XX090H i5-3317U + Nvidia GT635M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB@RM2499[2.3kg], 2GB, W8; color: black

Lenovo
Ideapad Z580, i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M@RM2499, 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB, white

for this case I vote for either z580 or s56

the games you play need high graphic ?
if no then z580 bah @@
even for me also hard to choose, but n56 design is better and slimmer
yet got backlit keyboard
