sifus, please help me! finding laptop for my bro.

My budget, below 2k.

No preferred brand, as long as reliable.

Use for watching movies and play games. Not really hardcore gamer, but if can play some of the latest game is preferable.

currently eyeing for dell 14r, specs:

Processor 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3210M processor (3M Cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
Operating System Windows® 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit (English)
Display 14.0"(35.6cm) HD WLED True-Life (1366x768)
Memory2 4GB 1 DIMM (4GB x1) DDR3 1600Mhz
Hard Drive 500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Video Card NVidia GeForce GT 630M DDR3 1GB
Optical Drive 12.7" SATA Tray Load DVD+/-RW

My most important buying factor, can buy through 0% easy installment plan. smile.gif

hmm...how come the 960 is better even though the 2117 and 1007 are newer?

well, its just replacement for one of the old office laptop so budget is below 1.2k.

1. Preferred Brand: Dell or Lenovo
2. Budget: around rm2000 (hope to get as low as possible)
3. Usage: to do basic document works(college student here) but mostly for leisure usage like movie and gaming. i dun play all those high end graphic pc games. i juz wan to get a laptop tat can at least get this few games (hon, dota2, dragon nest and etc...) to play smoothly at high graphic settings AND NO COOLING PROBLEMS ><
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14" or 15" is fine for me.

How long can you wait? smile.gif
When Intel push out the Haswell this year, they will mandate all ultrabook must have touchscreen (at least that's what is being announced).
If you follow CES 2013, apparently there is a prototype of XPS 14 that has a flippable screen (just like the one in XPS 12) sweat.gif
But Haswell is most probably late (Q3) 2013.

Since you like to clean your laptop, the good thing about XPS 14 is that once you open the back panel, you have full access to all the components, very easy to maintain.
If you want to go SSD aftermarket, the SSD must be thin (< 7mm) to fit in. So a lot of popular SSD brands / models are out. Have seen some videos where users strip the SSD of external case to fit in ultrabook sweat.gif

I need one by July.
So do u think i shall wait maybe other company came out something this price range and better than xps 14? hehe

MacBook Pro is not suitable for hardcore gaming unfortunately...
You can consider the Lenovo Y500, or the the following, lighter 15.6" notebooks:
15.6"
Asus N56VZ-S4284H, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM3699[2.7kg][B&O], 4GB, 1TB, W8; color: black
Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8
Dell Vostro 3560, i7-3632QM + AMD HD7670M + 32GB SSD + 750GB(7200rpm) HDD + (1920x1080)@RM3209[2.57kg], 8GB, W7HB; colors: red/silver/bronze

I thought that Macbook pro MD103 able to handle Crysis 2 quite well? My friend Macbook 2010 had been using about 4 years but still able to play CoD Black Ops in medium setting and battery life is 3++ hours with wifi on.

Thanks anyway for the suggestion! rclxms.gif I think I will go for macbook pro..^^

Can anyone recommend me a laptop needs to replace current Toshiba portege R500 Since it is for business it has to be light. The R500 is 1.06 kg with optical drive. Is it possible to get anything as light as that? This for business user, so travel on plane, that is why need light laptop. If cannot find with optical drive around 1 kg, then no drive but light is ok.
Here are the current specs of what I am looking.

1. Budget: RM 5k max

2. Windows 7/8 OS

3. Work: Office suit, power point presentations, work in the airport. Not playing games.

4. Battery life must be 6hr++

5. Must be SSD. 256 gb or higher.

6. Must be around 1 kg or less.

This is for a government institution purchase. So need quotation and specs. Need to use the laptop asap.

Thanks

1. Preferred Brand: other than Acer
2. Budget: rm1200
3. Usage: surfing internet, typing documents, watching movies, light gaming, must be durable(because so many kids in house, they tend to drop things off table)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14" or 15"

Just want to ask, tmr I am going to COD with a seller who sell Macbook pro. I going to buy Macbook Pro 15" MD103 from him. He say that the box was unsealed due to custom inspection and the machine haven power on before. The Macbook pro not yet register for warranty yet.

How could I define whether it is a real set or fake set? As he sell to me quite cheap. He said bsc the box was unsealed n he sell to me RM46**.

Thanks in advance..^^

Are the toshiba's on sale in Malaysia? I only get US sites. Thanks for the Lenovo. Added that to the shortlist. What is the price on that one?

Currently viewing Dell latitude series as well.
