Can anyone recommend me a laptop needs to replace current Toshiba portege R500 Since it is for business it has to be light. The R500 is 1.06 kg with optical drive. Is it possible to get anything as light as that? This for business user, so travel on plane, that is why need light laptop. If cannot find with optical drive around 1 kg, then no drive but light is ok.
Here are the current specs of what I am looking.

1. Budget: RM 5k max

2. Windows 7/8 OS

3. Work: Office suit, power point presentations, work in the airport. Not playing games.

4. Battery life must be 6hr++

5. Must be SSD. 256 gb or higher.

6. Must be around 1 kg or less.

This is for a government institution purchase. So need quotation and specs. Need to use the laptop asap.

Thanks

Are the toshiba's on sale in Malaysia? I only get US sites. Thanks for the Lenovo. Added that to the shortlist. What is the price on that one?

Currently viewing Dell latitude series as well.

Lenovo
ThinkPad X230, i5-3210M + Intel HD4000@RM4059, 4GB, 320GB(7200rpm), 3 years on-site warranty, external USB OD

Dell
Latitude E6230, i5-3360M + Intel HD4000@RM4550, 4GB, 320GB(7200rpm), W7P(32-bit)/W8 Pro (64-bit), 3-cell; [CPU options: i3-3360M-i7-3520M]

These are not as light as the Toshiba, but light enough. And they are build tough, suitable for long distance travel. For most ideal battery performance, can opt for additional slice battery that attach to the bottom of laptop, in total can last 10+ hours under normal usage  thumbup.gif

Thanks for the recommendations. For some reason, Dell Malaysia shows better value XPS13 (cheaper) in the "for home user" section rather than the "government section". Not only that, direct comparing the Latitude with the XPS13, XPS13 better value with 256 GB SSD. Called Dell and got the quotation for the XPS13. Looks like that is the laptop to go.

Can recommend me laptop for games.

1. Any
2. Rm3500
3. Must be able to play FIFA and laptop will be placed at home. So don't care about battery life.
4. 15.6" is quite nice. Anything bigger than 14" and has the best graphic card for RM3500.

Thanks
