I don't know what was happened?
But today I only realized that I suddenly cannot login to my router setup page?!?! rclxub.gif
All the Wi-Fi and Internet settings are fine and still working properly.

I am 1000% sure my login credential are correct.

My router is RT-AC55UHP.

I know I can simply reset the router and do the setup again from scratch.
But before I am sure of why this happen, I don't dare to do it.
Just in case I still cannot login even after reset the router, then I will left with no Internet at all.

Can someone please help?

EDIT:
Previously, I've downloaded the official ASUS Router app to my phone and was working properly, and now it can't login to my router as well.

EDIT #2:
I decided to reset the router finally.
Re-configure everything from scratch and it's working normally again.
Still don't know why all these happened to my router?

Hi ASUSmy,

I have upgraded to this firmware and initially, the problem appeared to be the same. Passwords of existing OpenVPN accounts are turned into hashs. When I create a new username, the same thing happens. However, using the username/password combination that I used to create the account, it appears to be able to authenticate properly.

Is this how it is supposed to work?

Thank you.

Hi hackabyte,

Sorry for the late reply, I have tested with my unit with the same firmware and it seen like it has the same problem. I have already feedback to our RD, will get back to you ASAP on the fix.

Hi hackabyte,

Thank you for your feedback, I have double check with the the RD, for security purposed, they will hide the password in future firmware. The link below is the new firmware which will show "-" instead of hashes character.

Hi G K Lai,

You can also download the setting file from the router. You can easily upload back the setting in case anything happen on the router.

Try using changing the default user name and password for better security.

Thank you

Hi ASUSmy,

Thanks for your clarification. I wasn't sure if that was how it was supposed to work but luckily, I decided to test further and found that my OpenVPN username/password combination was working properly despite the hash.

And many thanks for fixing the firmware so quickly. Keep up the good work thumbup.gif

Hi,

First of all, thank you for replying. thumbsup.gif

Yes, I always use custom user name and password, since the first screen of router interface always asks user to change password. rolleyes.gif

I don't know how to upload setting file (.CFG file) while I was unable to login to the router. laugh.gif
Maybe you mean always have the saved setting file handy and after reset the router, restore with the setting file? Yup! Good idea. thumbup.gif

Thank you again! icon_rolleyes.gif

How do I setup multiple WAP to share the same SSID and password? I don't want to manually reconnect to the nearest WAP when I go from one floor to the other. The transition has to be seamless without human intervention.

You answered your own question. Just set all the WAP with the same SSID and password.

hi guys,
I've recently bought an ASUS AC1200G+ and im currently running on maxis fibre internet + Astro IPTV.

Ive set it up accordingly (and read through different postings and google results on Custom router for Maxis IPTV) unfortunately, it still does not work.
Items i've done so far :-
1. setting it up on ASUS
2. updating the ports on IPTV

however, all failed as in, only wireless and LAN internet works but, my IPTV astro (which I have 2 decoders to connect to btw) does not work.

Possible to advice me what else I can check to get it up?
thanks!

If I do that, will my wireless device scan out multiple WAP of the same SSID or just 1 WAP?

I have 3 APs in total. My wireless devices only see 1 SSID.

Definitely just 1 SSID, but if you use a wifi analyzer, it will list all the different AP, which should help with channel selection and location for the AP based on the signal strength.

Just to confirm again, because AC86U is not cheap. sweat.gif

After N12U set as bridge, AC86U can handle pppoe/pppoa authentication for streamyx? And all routing and isp configuration is done in AC86U?
