QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Mar 2 2015, 10:16 AM) Hi ashiezai, You can try use some software to check your area to see which channel is less people use/favorable. Then set the channel at the router under Wireless->General->Control channel. Change back the channel bandwidth to 20/40MHz. Thank you Hi there, I have tried different channels 1,6,11. There are 3 wifi nearby that use channel 1. I'm using channel 11. I tried different channels already and it's still the same. Sometimes it will spike at 1000ms+ (just 1 ping) every 3-5 minutes. Is there any other option?

Hi ashiezai, May I know where are you located between your PC and the router? And is there any way for you to test the ping using the LAN? And this 1000ms+ is pinging the router or the game server that you mention? What about the google.com? Do you mind share what game do you pinging? Thank you

Thank you Hi there, I tried LAN, there is no problem. The 1000ms+ is for both pinging Dota2 server and router together (different ping windows). The 1000ms+ will simultaneously appear on both Dota 2 server (sgp-1.valve.net) and the router (192.168.1.1) every 3-5minutes. Google.com is the same, so it is the router. Thank you.

QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Mar 2 2015, 12:19 PM) Hi ashiezai, May I know where are your PC and the router are located? Thank you PC and router located in same floor, less than 10 meters aways, divided by 2 walls (router in living area, PC in study room same floor). The signal goes through this way: living area -> staircase wall -> study room wall -> PC. Signal is strong between -50dBm ~ -65dBm

I also did simultaneous ping from my other machine (mac book) and all experienced the spike during the same time. So I'm pretty sure it's not my pc's fault. This post has been edited by ashiezai: Mar 3 2015, 11:48 AM

Hi ashiezai, Thank you for your image, and testing. I would like to ask, since you have mac book, do you mind do the testing between the router again in line of sight condition? And if can to try update your WiFi adapter driver to the latest too. Thank you

Thank you I will update with ping image of macbook next time. The driver is up to date. I have actually done a lot of research with google and playing around with settings. The culprit was actually Wireless-N +WPA2. Other people suggested to use Wireless-b/g. I turned on legacy mode (g/n) and the ping spike issue is gone - so I'm pretty sure it's your firmware with the wireless-n (my other wireless-n router doesnt have such problem). Using legacy mode now, no more ping spike.

QUOTE(ASUSmy @ Mar 2 2015, 10:18 AM) Hi sam60, Try update the firmware to the latest. The ping that you get is pinging to? Try not to use the google DNS first. Thank you Hye, i did update latest firmware got at asus website. But still doesnt work. Then i change dns set to auto which is before this set to google. Just to add, i did change my cable to CAT6 a slight improve but still ping still high. Speedtest is good but when i did ping test still lousy. Any changes i should do
