I have tried different channels 1,6,11. There are 3 wifi nearby that use channel 1. I'm using channel 11. I tried different channels already and it's still the same. Sometimes it will spike at 1000ms+ (just 1 ping) every 3-5 minutes.

Is there any other option?

May I know where are you located between your PC and the router? And is there any way for you to test the ping using the LAN? And this 1000ms+ is pinging the router or the game server that you mention? What about the google.com? Do you mind share what game do you pinging?

I tried LAN, there is no problem.

The 1000ms+ is for both pinging Dota2 server and router together (different ping windows). The 1000ms+ will simultaneously appear on both Dota 2 server (sgp-1.valve.net) and the router (192.168.1.1) every 3-5minutes. Google.com is the same, so it is the router.

PC and router located in same floor, less than 10 meters aways, divided by 2 walls (router in living area, PC in study room same floor). The signal goes through this way: living area -> staircase wall -> study room wall -> PC. Signal is strong between -50dBm ~ -65dBm

I also did simultaneous ping from my other machine (mac book) and all experienced the spike during the same time. So I'm pretty sure it's not my pc's fault.

This model unable to do manual VLAN tagging, you will need our router that come with gigabit LAN only you can add the VLAN tagging manually.

I have actually done a lot of research with google and playing around with settings. The culprit was actually Wireless-N +WPA2. Other people suggested to use Wireless-b/g. I turned on legacy mode (g/n) and the ping spike issue is gone - so I'm pretty sure it's your firmware with the wireless-n (my other wireless-n router doesnt have such problem).

Using legacy mode now, no more ping spike.

Hye, i did update latest firmware got at asus website. But still doesnt work. Then i change dns set to auto which is before this set to google.

Just to add, i did change my cable to CAT6 a slight improve but still ping still high. Speedtest is good but when i did ping test still lousy. Any changes i should do
