This news was released recently.

Wi-Fi security has been breached, say researchers

KRACK Attacks: Bypassing WPA2 against Android and Linux
https://youtu.be/Oh4WURZoR98

Are all Asus wireless router affected? Will there be patches soon?
*
WPA2 is standard security protocol in WiFi, thus all manufacturer that using WPA2 security will be affected, even most expansive cisco that using WPA2 will be affected.

The only way is change to enterprise WPA that require cert to be installed will not be affected.

Not really, Asus may not be affected. Mikrotik as a typical AP aren't affected. The key is not to reuse your nonce. Mikrotik's WDS is affected, latest version has it fixed, maybe.

Here you can see who is and who is not affected. Asus is unknown at the moment.

Hi, I am using Time broadband with Asus RT-AC66U.
previously with 20mbps was no problem.
after upgraded to 300mbps, problem has come.
i believe that this router is able to use for 300mpbs speed, correct?
if so, why i always getting the speed jumping .. 100mbps later jump 300mbps.. then 100mbps again. is that router setting issue?
as i called Time due to my line was subscribe under astro iptv.. they have no data show, they ask me to call back astro. Astro only tell me 1 thing... my router is not supported by them, so ask me ask back my agent. What the hell..
so .. I would like to seek you help on this. any suggestion?
soon i will cancel my astro, but i wish to know how to solve this too as i will subscribe back time broadband. thanks in advance!
*
Too bad... Yes if u using Astro iptv u have to contact back Astro as your account created by Astro.

U test using wifi or Lan? Lan is recommended.

i'm using LAN testing. but AC66U should be no problem for time broadband 300mbps right?
*
Yup no problem as the router is gigabit capable.

If using Lan tested result is below your expectation then it's iSP problem, something to adjust in ur account. Try call Astro and force them don't push their responsibilities to other.

U should use lan to test first.

hey guys, so i am using a AC5300 Asus router..
unifi recently upgraded my connection to 500mbps
i am able to get speed of 500mbps on lan cable, but when i try it on wifi it becomes 300++ only even though when im next to the router
i have tried updating the firmware to the latest, restarted router + unifi ONU, etc etc

tested using my laptop that is able to get 500mbps on wifi in another location..

anyone got any idea why?

2.4GHz
802.11a : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54 Mbps
802.11b : 1, 2, 5.5, 11 Mbps
802.11g : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54 Mbps
802.11n : up to 600 Mbps

5GHz
802.11ac : up to 1734 Mbps
1024QAM (2.4GHz) : up to 1000 Mbps
1024QAM (5GHz) : up to2167 Mbps

See ur gadget hardware chips, if its not in higher speed category then it won't reach the speed you expected.
The one higher speed wireless is very very latest and expansive gadget.

Please understand all kind of wireless technology.

To make u understand, all wireless speed is just theoretical only, its not always up to the speed as advertised.

QUOTE(stinky @ Sep 15 2018, 07:57 PM)
Some update on my 86u issue.
The LAN4 setup for IPTV (UNIFI-HOME) is slow to detect when I switch on my IPTV box from standby mode. It takes about 60 second for the LAN4 to connect. I timed for 15-20times and it is consistently 60 seconds.

When I setup the router for the first time, the LAN4 usually connects within 3 seconds. However, after placing the IPTV box on standby, subsequent switch on time takes 60 seconds. I repeated and reset to factory default and retry. The same observation where first time switch on is 3 seconds after that from standby mode is 60 seconds.

So the current work around is wait for 60seconds after powering on, and wait for the LAN4 to connect (the yellow LAN warning sign will disappear), then click into Hypptv. Works all the time. Just a bit of hassle and I need a fix

Anyone else on UNIFI and white HyppTV box has this issue ?
ASUS firmware 3.0.0.4.384.32799

Try reset unifitv box.

U need call TM to get necessary info to reconfigure unifitv.

It's also called NAT acceleration.

https://routerguide.net/nat-acceleration-on-or-off/

Try under LAN, switch control, Enable HW Accelerator on.

if i got turbo upgraded, i thought they should provide a router which is capable of reaching that speed?

If u still under contract, they will, but next year.

For those out of contract then they won't, but they will just replace modem only, router had to settled yourself.

Everything wireless is prone to wireless interference. The matter is the severity of it.

Lyra and AiMesh uses the 5Ghz band for backhaul by default. Thus, the interference is less significant compared to 2.4Ghz.

Now I meet this customer house, 2 storey, quiet big. He always complain line not stable, some 8 unit dlink ip camera hardly connected. The router using rt ac1300uhp.

So u got any suggestion to have stable wifi?

By using Lan cable, line is very stable.

For me I ask him get contractor to drill some hole n pull Lan cable to 2nd floor then install another router as access point. If not stable get range extender for few plug point.
