Hi dimenxion,

May I know what is your current firmware version? The latest one is 3.0.0.4.374.979.

http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTN56U/#support

And if it is latest version already, can you send me your setting and log file of the router?

I will PM you my e-mail.

Thank you

Hi both, I am having the same issue with my RT-N56U too. I am on Time Home Fibre and I have a DynDNS hostname tied to my dynamic IP. I can access my Download Master web app from outside my home network, but connecting to the VPN server has never been successful. I have tried to initiate a PPTP connection from my Win7 laptop, my iOS7 tablet and even my 4.4.2 Android phone - no joy.

However, previously I was on another firmware version, a newer version which was taken offline by Asus recently. When that firmware was active, my VPN server was ok.

Current firmware (problem with VPN server feature) = 3.0.0.4.374.979
Previous latest firmware (VPN server feature OK) = 3.0.0.4.374.2078 (no longer on Asus Support website)

Home VPN : Time Fibre Home
Mobile : Maxis 3G, Streamyx, Digi 3G

The thing is, on the latest greatest firmware version which was taken offline by Asus, the VPN server functioned fine.

yes... i am fully aware it will not work with maxis 3G. what i can tell, if i connect to the VPN as test from the local network of my home, vpn will connect, once i tried when i'm outside, it never connect. I am working in carrier network so basically i had tested this at least on 4 different connection and all of them cant connect.

Is there any similarity to this ? You do have those wifi dual band repeater ? Can it work for extending the wifi to downstairs and have a lan cable connects to IPTV lan for connection? Pls recommend me if there's any. And Im planning for a full upgrade to Asus products. Hopefully , i can install everything by asus for compatibility purposes and standardizing it. Tq

Oh, just replied your PM without seeing your request above. I can only send you my settings file tonight once I get home.

If you want, I can pass u a public dropbox link to the latest firmware FW_RT_N56U_30043742078.zip that is no longer available on Asus support web page. I managed to download and use it some weeks back.

Hi kmrdeva,

Ok, and you can keep the firmware first as I also got ask my RD about this firmware and they have removed, not sure why but they said there should be no problem with VPN with the current firmware.

Thank you
