helo ASUSmy

i am using the beta version firmware for my RT-N12 version C1 (GUI ASUSWRT). my problem is I am unable to make the router pingable from public. i had already disable to firewall and also tick the pingable checkbox but still the router is not pingable.

i need the router to be pingable to enable hurricane electric tunnel broker for ipv6. any idea?

Hi dimenxion,

Do you mean the beta firmware version 3.0.0.4.370?

If yes, try update the latest one 3.0.0.4.374.813.

http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTN12_C1/#support

It seen like they have fixed some IPv6 problem on version 3.0.0.4.374.430

Thank you

Hi dimenxion,

May I know what is your current firmware version? The latest one is 3.0.0.4.374.979.

http://www.asus.com/my/Networking/RTN56U/#support

And if it is latest version already, can you send me your setting and log file of the router?

I will PM you my e-mail.

Thank you

i downloaded the latest version when i first bought N-56U. so it's the latest version as per asus website

kmrdeva & dimenxion , may i know where are you guys dialing from?
Home VPN : Unifi / streamyx
Mobile : Maxis 3G , this will not work on PPTP. Have to use OpenVPN
*
yes... i am fully aware it will not work with maxis 3G. what i can tell, if i connect to the VPN as test from the local network of my home, vpn will connect, once i tried when i'm outside, it never connect. I am working in carrier network so basically i had tested this at least on 4 different connection and all of them cant connect.

turns out the port forwarding config is wrong. where it forwards all ports to one destination which includes the 1723. i removed it and all good

Hmm, I don't have port forwarding enabled on my RT-N56U. Another issue at my end, I think.
*
try to scan 1723 port from online. if your port 1723 did not have any issue, 1723 should be open. if it says not responding, possible config issue. did you do any DMZ?

Yes buddy, I do have DMZ enabled with my home PC's LAN IP address in it.
*
if you try port scan from outside to inside your LAN and 1723 not open, try to remove the DMZ first bro and see what happened.

Have disabled DMZ, VPN server on the RT-N56U is now accessible from outside via Maxis 3G. Have not tested internet and home network access via VPN yet, a bit busy with work.

nice bro.. finally we made it to work biggrin.gif and i can confirm maxis can connect to pptp vpn

Yes, finally vpn server works. So dmz needs to be disabled for vpn server to work. I made 2 more changes though.

1. The vpn client ip pool 193.168.1.91-100, changed to same subnet as my home network 192.168.1.10-90

2. DNS server settings for vpn clients were manually configured to my UnoTelly DNS servers (paid service).
*
for VPN you have to use unique subnet to ensure there will be no conflict routes. the rest should be ok biggrin.gif i tested the vpn, and it works perfectly fine, i can stream from my home NAS thumbup.gif

Change to:
| Lo-Fi Version
