Guys need some help actually. I gave my phone for warranty, the screen issue and they updated it to Portico so I have 4g. Now according the Maxis, if I am on a 3g package, the 4g is the same price, no difference. SO I chose the 4g options under the settings but, it only shows H+. By right, isnt it supposed to show 4G LTE in the status bar? I did a speed test and I confirmed its 3g because the max I am getting is 10mbps, same as my friend's lumia 920 thats has no received portico.
Can anyone shed some light here pls.

PS: the portico update is available at Nokia Care, but they said that if you want to update to it, you need to pay like 40 bucks. They said it will be out soon for us. I got it free cause i changed my screen and formatted so they helped la.

I'm not too sure about Maxis, but I'm on Celcom at the moment whereby whenever there is a data connectivity, the logo will show H+ on my Lumia 920... I'm still yet to upgrade to Portico, so not sure if H+ is really 4G LTE... if I'm not mistaken H+ is HSPA+ (High Speed Packet Access)..

my average speedtest on H+ network is usually around 6Mbps... the 2 slow download rate is when I choose Server from China hahaha to test the actual speed when it's not located within Malaysia network...

from your other reply, you mentioned you have 10Mbps on H+ network of Maxis which is rather good... but if that is 4G LTE, then it may not be the speed perhaps? need some real 4G LTE sifu here biggrin.gif

Why would Nokia Care charge for a software update?!... this is something I cannot understand... hmm.gif I rather wait for March 2013... this make them look bad for charging RM40... sigh***

No I kinda agree with why they are charging. The thing is, Nokia has provided the tools for the update etc so you need to wait for the update to come over the air. They also don't want to over burden their staff as well. Most people who come over have actual problems that need attention. Software updates are not very important and they would waste the repair guys time hence delaying the others.

So again, I do agree with this. I got it because my screen was spoilt so I just asked if they could as a combo. smile.gif

Honestly.. I don't really feel much diff with portico in terms of the battery.. maybe I would need to wait a while since this is a newly flashed firmware. I did have a few restarts still.. so no clue there...
I do love that the wifi is always on as my whatsapp messages seem to be coming in frequently and well.
Hopefully the future updates would have more fixes smile.gif

While Portico looks like a decent minor update, it's still not good enough. These features should've been in there since day one and running out of time isn't an excuse. In terms of features, WP is more than a year away from iOS and Android. They need more work, particularly with TellMe. The next update will truly make or break WP. If they do not bring about great features, I will drop the platform and resign from all things WP. I've given my 3 full years to support this platform and it looks like they could use a wake up call.

Question, when you try your phone in TTDI, are you using WiFi or the Telco services? If Telco, then what's the Icon of your Telco reception when you're in TTDI? H, H+, or 4G LTE?

Somehow agree with you as I hop into WP7 when it was first launched and the momentum doesn't really move too much... I know the current WP8 is a good product, but it's just a 'barely good enough' product to compete with the rest... Apps has been exhaustive since day 1 and yet after 3 years it's still not ramp up... Skype recent updates of Beta testing has not included WP8 as well?! Photosynth is still missing?! and guess what as both products are from Microsoft itself... haih... I shall give it 1 more year, if not I may also jump ship to Android...

Yes, that pretty much sums up my sentiments. It won't be another full year for me. Come this July, if nothing new is announced, I'm dropping it.

Having issue is one thing. No taking necessary steps to resolve it is another.

I'm fine with the first, but not with the latter. No device on earth is without issues, but it seems Microsoft is taking their own sweet time to address them, and Nokia could only do so much. Much of the issues stem from the new NT kernel.

Edit: And it's not only restricted to L920. Even the HTC models have similar issues, like random reboots, freezes, etc.

remember when lumia 920 was announce they delay the phone like forever to launch is okay but when launch tons of devices have problem. I cant brain this if they launch quick and have issue is acceptable but after long delay and with tons of issue is hard to accept.

Majority and higher percentage is on lumia 920

They didn't exactly delay. According to reports, they didn't have good enough supply, so naturally, US & Canada would be their target markets first. It did come to our shores before year end with decent pricing, that, to me, was good enough.

The problem is the software, sure L920 does has its fair share of bugs, but Nokia did take steps to rectify them through PR1.1 (img algorithm tuning - sharpness). On contrary, I can't say the same for Microsoft. From WP7 to WP8, nothing much changed. Portico, nothing much added. How much more time do they want? Come July (my yearly purchase month), I'll give them the middle finger if they don't do something about their platform.

I'll head over to BB or Samsung.

Yea WP7 to WP8 not much WOW factor to even begin to brag about it.

They did delay even in US

Announce in SEPT phone only available in December. 3 months delay.

I using Note 2 i can say quite satsify with the phone overall. Not much complaint.

Battery life also WOW
Apps acceptable
Updates since i got the phone i got like 5 to 7 updates just today itself got 2 100MB updates
