My engine bay every time service, like sandy beach  laugh.gif

Just checked, mine no rubber seal  sweat.gif Will enquire if I decide to change drum brakes...if not DIY  thumbup.gif
Yes, manual. That's the only engine related problem I've experienced. After update, no such problem anymore.

About the rear drum brake, have to call Proton CoSE or 3S centre and confirm  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmm, doesn't improve FC and performance?

Hi guys, need your advice / help.
My parent is driving year 2009 BLM automatic and the mileage is very low around 15k kms only.
Just couple months back, the car failed to start (battery is brand new) and needed to tow to our normal workshop.
It's found out that the pistons need to be replaced. The cost is over RM1k and has been fixed. sweat.gif
Now after 1 month has passed, there's this black oil stain on the floor after overnight.
Do u guys face similar issues? Since the car is just slightly over 3 years and so low mileage, can I say we are just bad luck getting a lemon car?

How sure were you when they say piston need replaced? the black oil stain may be the result of a shoddy top overhaul job.

GaGa engine is very tough, unless you pour water into the engine oil and jammed the entire crank, otherwise it will survive just fine. Where is your regular workshop? Does it face any problem before this? Such as overheating? Lack of engine oil? Normally people doesn't replace piston, only piston rings, which generally cost around 200~300 without full overhaul. whistling.gif

Can you still start the car now? Where do you stay? Mind us pay a visit? nod.gif

Already *press* acc pedal fully..that's the max..probably because of the weight + full tank petrol

I won't dare go more than 130 if driving alone or with 1 passenger.

The more weight, the more stable at high speeds. icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Dec 29 2012, 06:54 PM)
Lately I've experience jerky braking. I was suspecting a warped disc rotor that causes it, but I have not experience any high speed motor sports that may heating up my brakes to the extend of warping it. Things got procrastinated over and over again, until lately I figured my brakes started to scream whenever I use them. As I reach my regular workshop, jack up the car and start to spin wheels to found out my driver side front wheel's brake was badly jammed. Without applying brake, the wheels need to use heavy force to pull it. It has been virtually no inertia tolerable anymore. So I decided to had the both front brakes serviced.

After remove wheels, to found out I left about 2mm worth of brakepad, anytime

Brake fluid in the piston chamber is dark color, very dirty and oxidized
user posted image

Due to oxidized brake fluid, piston forged layer was also rusted
user posted image

Both side of the piston were oxidized, from the picture you can tell the driver side(front) piston had a thick layer of rust that causes the brake piston jammed, the other 1, matter of time
user posted image

As we worked on the passenger side caliper, to found out the piston chamber as dirty as my driver side's brake piston
user posted image

Cost of repair:
Bosch BLM brake pads = FREE(estimated RM60)
Caliper oil seals service kit = FREE(estimated RM30)
DOT4 brake fluid = FREE(estimated RM18)
Labor = RM30

Just thought this may answer some of the question regarding "DO WE NEED TO CHANGE BRAKE FLUID" thingy sleep.gif
