QUOTE(blau-saga @ Dec 28 2012, 08:16 PM) my SA didn't mention the exact function of it, on the receipt the item is - seal assy, hood front no 2 (blm) mybe to improve intake flow or simply blocking dirt cause i already put rubber seal on headlamp and whole grille except near intake, but later found out it's ok to block it anyway QUOTE(dares @ Dec 28 2012, 06:42 PM) Hi... QUOTE(blau-saga @ Dec 28 2012, 08:55 PM) hi, i've been a silent reader to this forum since i bought my flx in 2011 august. Tks a meg, Bro! For the pic c/w added illustration re seals. here's the photo, not my car. red = claimed foc item. almost like big-d seal yellow = my own seal (small-d) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « btw, i also hv big-d rubber on the front edge of hood for better seal including between headlamp and hood if seal whole gap of course la cleaner engine bay, if only the intake don't know Is the function juz 2keep out dust? Did SC ppl tell yu why...?( Apologies...yu oledi answered that in a later post... Kinda like blocking airflow...hotter engine compartment? If seal blocks intake, it'd b like hot-air intake rather than CAI...thereby defeating purpose of putting intake with ducting there in first place, agreed? Cld yu pls clarify why yu added the big-D rubber seal @yellow-marked locations as well as H/lamps area? TQ in adv! This post has been edited by zeone: Dec 28 2012, 09:50 PM |

QUOTE(blau-saga @ Dec 28 2012, 09:48 PM) at first i thought it the hood cover, so no further question Many tks, Bro! For yr explanation... later found out only that small rubber.. haha initially i only cover front between bonnet and headlamp/grille except the air intake part i've search and asked people and my conclusion is the air should be coming from grille upward into the intake, if we assume the intake does suck air the gap on our saga jz too big compared to other makes or persona for example. and if the gap does function shouldn't it be big enough to suck more air also the engine bay is quite dirty cause water and dust easily came into engine compartment thru the gap Yup, logically appears that cld b the reason... With our windy & rainy weather...plus our dusty environment!! Water (& dust, etc) cld b sucked directly in2 intake mouth @that location... ps. Might b a good idea 2add those Big-D/Small-D seals...4those BLMs/FLs which don't come with the seals...even certain FLX batches? This post has been edited by zeone: Dec 28 2012, 10:00 PM |

QUOTE(awdarr @ Dec 29 2012, 04:30 PM) Hi guys, need your advice / help. Hi Bro... My parent is driving year 2009 BLM automatic and the mileage is very low around 15k kms only. Just couple months back, the car failed to start (battery is brand new) and needed to tow to our normal workshop. It's found out that the pistons need to be replaced. The cost is over RM1k and has been fixed. Now after 1 month has passed, there's this black oil stain on the floor after overnight. Do u guys face similar issues? Since the car is just slightly over 3 years and so low mileage, can I say we are just bad luck getting a lemon car? Only 15k Km? And failure 2start needing replacement of PISTONS 2rectify? Now that's a FIRST me hv ever heard...for even a Proton!! And after repair, got oil leak so soon? Sumthin fishy...? Good advice....NEVER go back 2that workshop ever again... |

Hi & Good Afternoon, Everyone!!
Juz 4the record (& sharing)... Me juz started on the road to DIY Service Maintenance 4my "White Knight"! Yup, did my own 15k Km Service, namely : 1. Drained out old EO. 2. Replaced Oil Filter with Ori OF bought from Spare Parts Shop @RM10. 3. Replaced EO with FS Shell Helix Ultra 5W40 from Tesco @RM129. 4. Replaced Drain Plug Gasket (new - taken previously fr SC when mech din change mine@last OCI!). (Note : can b re-used @ nxt OCI. Me also got another used one fr earlier OCI @SC.) Total cost? Only RM(129+10)=RM139 (with FS EO) AND KIND Time taken? 1 hour ie incl prep & clearing up after DIY. Besides, me get 2used drained out used (blacky) EO 2pour arnd my backlane 2prevent weeds/grass growing... Next DIY Service @20k Km wld include : 1. Replace Oil Filter only. (Note: Not need 2replace FS EO cos only 5k Km. ) 2. Top up EO if necessary due2 loss of oil in Oil Filter removal. 3. Replace Brake Fluid. (Note : Request other half 2help pump the brake pedal(?).) 4. Replace Air Filter...only "PnP" ie take out old & put in new nia. 5. Replace Radiator Coolant. (Will hunt 4Castrol Protector series type. Used in ole ride. Good!) 6. No replacement of Spark Plugs cos am using Denso Iridium...only replaceable @/b4 100k Km. IINM dat's abt it! Me happy! My White Knight happy, too! Until the nxt time, This post has been edited by zeone: Dec 30 2012, 04:52 PM |

QUOTE(siong62630 @ Dec 30 2012, 04:59 PM) for saga flx, anyone tried before pumping the tires pressure to 240 fronts and 220 back? is it safe? the reason is the recommended air pressure i felt the car is jumping, if i pump higher i feel the ride goes smoother Hi Bro... As long as the tyre pressure does NOT exceed the max embossed on the tyre sidewall.... ps. Best is alwaz 2follow car manufacturer's recommendations...unless yr car is not stock but with modded suspension... This post has been edited by zeone: Dec 30 2012, 05:05 PM |
