Is the battery small or normal standard size as car battery?? i wonder how can it fit under the seat?? what is the use of the car battery if we have the hybrid battery?

can we change the battery outside rather than at Toyota since it is command?
*
anything change, recommend after warranty

normal is a same like normal, wet batt lo...the back seat is higher compare to normal...

hybrid batter kenot keep the current very long, norm battery can keep few days to a week....

normal batt to run equipment for 12 volts....

both is 2 different batteries for different application....

What do you mean hybrid battery cannot keep the current very long ? NimH battery can last for a month at least, Lead-Acid battery can last even longer when not being used.

The 12V Lead-Acid battery in Prius C has the conduit to lead the hydrogen gas outside of the car, so you cannot simply buy the normal 12V battery to replace it, otherwise Prius C may get exploded if hydrogen gas accumulate to a risky level.

If you have the manual, see DIY 12volt battery section. If you do not have, you can down load the manual from the Internet.

They started the car with the key, passed the key to another person outside the car and drove the car away. Make sense?

The story is... if i left the car on and leave the car (open the gate, pay parking ticket etc), can someone drive it away without the key in the car?

However, Prius/ Prius C is not a popular model for car thief. Simply because
1. if there is any service/repair on the car, the driver has to go back to Toyota Service centre. Outside garage can't handle the high voltage motor. So if the car is lost, it will be found in Toyota service centre someday somewhere (if it is not driven out of the country).
2. Parts of Prius/Prius C are expensive (maybe), but not valuable in the market. Will Toyota SC/authorised garage use second hand part with unknown source? Will Prius/Prius C driver dare to bring their car to normal garage for repair?

I am less worry about the car being stolen, however I am quite worry on the car accident. We have an unlucky PC owner being hit from the rear in Penang Nov 2012 and the car is still in garage today (3 months), simply because the part is not arrived. (Seems the Japanese like to ship the part to the moon before reaching Malaysia?)

The lesson is: Our PC meet accident, we have to leave it in garage for at least 3 months. doh.gif

The System is designed for driver to continue driving the car even after the SKS key's battery has gone dead. Once the car engine is turned off, the car wont be able to start again until a valid SKS key is detected. You would not want to let your car gone dead in the highway where you are driving at a speed of 120km/h. This is also because of the car is not able differentiate after the engine has started; that the driver is not having the SKS or the SKS Battery is dead? Since the car have been started, means SKS key was detected. And also the car would not be able to determine you are on the road/home/parking lots after the engine was ignited. After all, PC is still mainly mechanical not fully AI.

It was often in the papers that a Prius would need a new battery after 100,000 miles. Now we are hearing that not one has had to have it's battery replaced to date! smile.gif

Since year 2000, they said will abolish the Car Import Tax for car import from ASIAN country. But it had been 13 yrs nothing much had change. Now another 3 years? Let see if Proton release EV and REEV, some tax will impose to Proton's competitors again.

I don't think Hybrid car will 100% tax free after 2013 if BN still the Government.

IINM, 3 yrs or 100k, even for batt....

My calculation for the battery cost..

Lets say use for 400k KM so the operating cost per km will be 8k/400k so is RM0.02/km

Lets say use for 200k KM so the operating cost per km will be 8k/200k so is RM0.04/km

Lets say sell the car before the above mileage 0 cost.....

Besides, some is getting like RM0.05 or RM 0.09 per km is almost same as modded 150cc or a 250cc bike....(figures obtain from fuelly.com)

If put to consideration of both, per km petrol is only about RM0.07 to RM 0.13, still lower than conventional cars

Current PC is not taxed anyway. Only those after that is hit by import tax, will then be screaming about it 3 years later.....

Thanks. But what if you are in "parking gear" and not moving. I was so curious pressing the pedal to the floor and the electric motor kick but not the petrol engine. I can hear the sound of the electric motor. Which I think this is not supposed to be the case as it is at parking gear.
Please try as I am curious to know the end result if it is normal or not.

HHhmmm... here my update.....
Locked on with "P" + Handbreak on and switch to energy screen, i floored the gas paddle... this is what i notice.
1. I dont see any energy flow between Battery nor Engine.
2. The moment you floored, it silent.
3. 3~5seconds later i start to notice petrol engine sound. Are you sure it you hybrid engine that sound or Petrol?
