Really? So it's normal then? I just got my car this Wednesday so still trying to learn how it runs. So if your claim is true, then I don't have to call my SA to check...

But I do know the battery will be charged whenever brake is stepped.

Maintain your battery level as high as possible, it helps to reduce FC.

1) If our hybrid batt is fully discharged, no way we can start our PC. Right or wrong? (Note: Case of Hybrid batt still functioning/OK, but only fully discharged due to car is not being used or start in a very long time)

No, you won't be able to start your car.

2) Can our PC be able to START back if it is not being used in ONE month time? (PC 12V batt charge can last/hold for how many days before it is fully discharged? Same like normal car which we must start at least once in a week?)

Should not be a problem provided your 12V battery is healthy and hybrid battery is at near full level.

3) What can we do to our PC when we r oversea for mths? Pls dun ask me to sell it off or renting to frens sad.gif I love my PC very much. Need to disconnect 12V batt? How abt the programming/memory side sad.gif )

Ask your family/wife/husband/GF/BF to drive your car for 30 mins once a month.

4) Is PC 12 V batt is not the same with normal car 12V batt? (Since it is located under rear passenger area or car's cabin)

PC 12V battery is almost the same as normal car except it has a duct connect the battery to outside to dissipate hydrogen generated by lead acid battery. if you replace the 12V battery with normal one, you may in the danger of hydrogen explosion

QUOTE(aragongon @ Feb 1 2013, 12:13 PM)
No, none of them. You notice the gap at the middle of the green bar? It is the battery power/electricity cut off line, once your pedal is above that gap, petrol engine kick in. Thus you feel it is much easier to pass through that line while you are at 70km/h compared to 10km/h.

If you always maintain your pedal below that gap, petrol will never kick in till battery low and auto kick in for recharge.

It is good to monitor the pedal level all the time for the better FC, but it is also a distraction to keep your sight from the road.

Safety first ya.  smile.gif
*
I think when the EV light on, then you are on battery, if the EV light is not on, that means petrol engine is running.

Recently I found out if I accelerate faster when going up hill, it is more fuel saving, I think because of the electric motor assist so it actually save more fuel. my past few days FC can reach 30KM/L because I change my driving habit to accelerate faster during pickup.

Yes it is a sensor for
1) safety belt- if detected ppl sitting but din put on safety belt, making pip sound.
2) alarm- if detect movement inside the after you lock the car, trigger alarm sound. I tried this b4 sitting inside the car and lock the car, the alarm triggered after a while(~30sec)
Not sure any more function.
*
The A pillar sensor is not for the safety belt, I believe the safety belt sensor is below the driver and passenger seat.

anything change, recommend after warranty

normal is a same like normal, wet batt lo...the back seat is higher compare to normal...

hybrid batter kenot keep the current very long, norm battery can keep few days to a week....

normal batt to run equipment for 12 volts....

both is 2 different batteries for different application....
*
What do you mean hybrid battery cannot keep the current very long ? NimH battery can last for a month at least, Lead-Acid battery can last even longer when not being used.

The 12V Lead-Acid battery in Prius C has the conduit to lead the hydrogen gas outside of the car, so you cannot simply buy the normal 12V battery to replace it, otherwise Prius C may get exploded if hydrogen gas accumulate to a risky level.

Guys, going for the 1st service soon (1k), should i go for mineral or semi-syn oil? Any recommendation?
*
First 1 K no need to get the semi oil, you may change it to semi oil after 5K

I sent my car to SC for 20K service, the 20K maintenance didn't change the spark plugs, but it require to change the cabin air filter for RM150, I refused to change the cabin air filter, RM150 is a ripped off ohmy.gif , I will buy one and change it myself laugh.gif

no idea about replacement cost but no matter how much also need to pay since the guy who stole the 'remote alarm'(should be the key right?) will be able to open the door and start the engine..
*
If I not mistaken, I checked with the SA last time, the smart key costs > RM 1K, better don't lost it.

The automotive garage section selling a lot of Toyota OEM air cabin filter less than <RM30, BTW, I didn't change the air cabin filter for my last 20K service, RM157 is ripped off for air filter.

I have been away from this forum for far too long. Sorry for repeating this question if it had been asked before. Anyone faced problem with their DVD-AVN self restarting? It seems that the self restarting happen frequently only in certain area where i drive through.
*
For my case, the DVD-AVN self restart only occurs during searching POI and only certain POI will cause it to hang and restart.

SLY17,
I drove prius C before.... my point is for day to day driving with heavy traffic and speed below 40kmh when traffic is bad this point prius C is better as fuel engine will off as electric motor will power up till battery out of power.

what is when both car travel at speed of above 70kmh and with smooth running from point A to point B who will have a better FC cause at this stage electric motor will not engage and only run on fuel ...
*
Prius C actually get better FC if you travel at speed between 50-90 kmh, the FC can go 25 KM/L easily, for bumper to bumper jam, FC could be as worse as 17KM/L. Even if you travel at 110 kmh on highway, it still can reach 22 KM/L.

i jus know Replacement of Brake pad is required for every 100km. timing belt/chain oso every 100km??i thought VVT-i engine is using chain.Maybe inspection only??
*
100KM? it should be 100,000 KM... please read aragongon post properly, he already mentioned Prius C doesn't have timing belt and Prius C doesn't use VVT-I engine, it is Atkinson engine.

QUOTE(ieyjj @ Jun 3 2013, 11:58 AM)
how often change battery? Since the prius was released, there is no single case of battery failure except if the idiot drives the car into a lake. tongue.gif

yes. battery would be about 8k in the event if you think the car is a submarine.

spare parts expensive? name the spare parts and I will quote u.

Speed is subject to your comparison. What are you comparing it with? tongue.gif
*
Not really true for battery failure, Prius had battery failure cases in the world, it is just pretty rare, Prius has sold more than million unit, no single battery failure is exaggerate.

Just realized my front car number plate went missing, and the car number plate was stuck to the platform by using double sides tapes. how can UMW gave such an idiot method to mount the car plate? I'm thinking asking UMW SC to give a permanent fix for free.

I found that I can get 20-22km/l on highway but lesser on city road (18.x-20.0)....how come lol

anyway to make my city drive higher fc....
*
Tips for getting better FC

1. Maintain the battery at high level > 4 bar above
2. Pick up can be faster, but don't go hit the power (red) area
3. Slowly brake, don't sudden brake, battery cannot be charged in few seconds.
4. Speed between 50-80 KMH is good for low FC
5. Set you aircond temp >= 26 degree
