I think Gunung Ledang is a very nice place to go as well.... in my memory la becos the last time i was there was like almost 10 years ago. The waterfall and place is clean. Lots of campers. Quite sad looking at the Hutan Rekreasi Klang Gates below Bukit Melawati. So many polluters. Rubbish everywhere. DBKL should do more for the nature than spending their money decorating street lights.

Anyway, I think we should setup a LYN Hiking/Trekking Club. Clubbers can post upcoming events and plans so that others can join in as I see quite a few serious climbers here. Just my 2 cent worth.

I agree with you that we should start an official club. Any takers? biggrin.gif

I think not necessarily to make it an official club as this forum can be a club by itself. So it’s a good idea for any1 who organize any trip to post on this thread, and those who keen to join can communicate thru this forum

Myself only know how to get to Bkt Melawati, so can only climb that hill until got other ‘kaki’ to show me the way to other mountain. Melawati Hill is nice to climb, been there few times but still dun find it boring. As it is near KL, I can go there on most of the weekends.

Added on June 12, 2008, 10:02 amI shall start of with the event posting 1st,

Place to go: Melawati Hill (East)
Date: 21st June 08 (Saturday)
Time to start the climb: 7:15am
Meeting Point: To be confirmed
Meeting time: To be confirmed
Persons going: 1) Myself
2) Enjoylife
3)

Any1 who want to join just put ur name here. we will decide a meeting point at somewhere every1 familiar 1st b4 we travel to the hill.

Glad to see some response, no problem with more ppl to join, the more the merrier. I think a group of 10 – 12 persons is fine.

Estimated time to complete the route (up and down) is 5 hours. If we start the climb at 7:15am, we will be downhill at about 1 pm.

Let me know whether r u familiar with the direction to go there? If yes we can meet at Taman Melawati, otherwise we will decide on a meeting point elsewhere b4 we travel there

Hi everyone,

I think we should enjoy both Tabur West and East as long as we can because the MRR3 is going to shoot very near these two beautiful set of hills sometime in the future. I have been noticing that our latest maps of KL have been showing the route of MRR3 being planned to go very near the bottom of these hills.

It is possible that access to these hills might be made more difficult once the highway is being built. The proposed route of the highway will cut just south of these hills, and run alongside the hills. It will also cut very near the car park that we always park when we climb Tabur West.

Once the highway is up and running, it won't be as quiet as it is now. I know this because I live 300m from MRR2 and it is noisy day and night.

Does anybody have additional information about MRR3?

A few years ago, Tabur was supposed to be turned into some kind of state park to protect the hills, flora and fauna. It seems that that movement has died off. So our two hills do not seem to have much protection from development.

Better enjoy them while you can, especially those of you so lucky to live near them.

Hi there, i dunno how to plot on the map eh sweat.gif

i suggest we meet at the BHP petrol station at taman melawati. if u refer to the map it is located at Jalan Taman Melawati, it is on ur left handside once u turn into taman melawati from MRR2.

If it is ok with u i think we can meet there at 7am
