Tks for the compliment SoulPower. Actually all 4 of us who went there last Saturday are all fit as all manage to complete the route successfully. I guess I’m fit enuv to climb bkt melawati, but not sure about other higher mountains. I haven’t climb any mountain other than bkt melawati, so many of u out there shud be much more experience and fitter than me.
Next time would like to try Nuang, Ledang, may be even mount KK. but has to slowly gain experience 1st from climbing small mountain. Bkt Melawati is the only mountain around town which i know how to go there. Would appreciate if any1 can show me direction to other mountain or let me know if there is any hiking trip |

I think not necessarily to make it an official club as this forum can be a club by itself. So it’s a good idea for any1 who organize any trip to post on this thread, and those who keen to join can communicate thru this forum
Myself only know how to get to Bkt Melawati, so can only climb that hill until got other ‘kaki’ to show me the way to other mountain. Melawati Hill is nice to climb, been there few times but still dun find it boring. As it is near KL, I can go there on most of the weekends. Added on June 12, 2008, 10:02 amI shall start of with the event posting 1st, Place to go: Melawati Hill (East) Date: 21st June 08 (Saturday) Time to start the climb: 7:15am Meeting Point: To be confirmed Meeting time: To be confirmed Persons going: 1) Myself 2) Enjoylife 3) Any1 who want to join just put ur name here. we will decide a meeting point at somewhere every1 familiar 1st b4 we travel to the hill. Glad to see some response, no problem with more ppl to join, the more the merrier. I think a group of 10 – 12 persons is fine.
Estimated time to complete the route (up and down) is 5 hours. If we start the climb at 7:15am, we will be downhill at about 1 pm. Let me know whether r u familiar with the direction to go there? If yes we can meet at Taman Melawati, otherwise we will decide on a meeting point elsewhere b4 we travel there |

Hi there, i dunno how to plot on the map eh
i suggest we meet at the BHP petrol station at taman melawati. if u refer to the map it is located at Jalan Taman Melawati, it is on ur left handside once u turn into taman melawati from MRR2. If it is ok with u i think we can meet there at 7am QUOTE(popcorn513 @ Jun 12 2008, 07:36 PM) Just plot the location to meet up in here lor http://wikimapia.org/#lat=3.2269427&lon=10...=16&l=0&m=m&v=2 Added on June 13, 2008, 9:56 amU r welcome to join, glad to see more ppl coming. Do u know the direction to the foot of the hill of Melawati East? It is by the 2 giant pipes. If u know how to get to the foothill we will meet there at 7:15am. Otherwise may be we can meet at the BHP petrol station at taman melawati at 7am QUOTE(flyingteeku @ Jun 13 2008, 12:35 AM) hi, i have been staying in taman melawati for the past 3 years already but still dunno the way to climb the klang gates hill.. Glad to see more ppl coming, some update + contact numbers:
Climb: Melawati Hill (East) Date: 21.06.2008 (Saturday) Meeting Point: BHP petrol station at taman melawati Meeting time: 7.00am 1. tschin1981 (012-4559559) 2. Enjoylife (??) 3. popcorn513 (012-4536653) + 1 friend 4. flyingteeku (017-4682032) 5. wong8152 (016-685 2473) 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. The route at Melawati East is actually shorter than West. But it is more difficult so more rest/stop are expected. Also try to make back pack as light as possible. There will be less ppl trekking this route compare to West becoz less scenery here to see and the routes are more difficult. Another thing to take note is that East has much much much more ants compare to the West. So for those who resist ants, try to wear a trekking glove as u may need to grab on rock, ropes and branches which is full of ants Added on June 15, 2008, 4:43 pmHi, r u driving there? if not u can follow my car, same like last time, i can pick u up at KLCC at 6:45am. QUOTE(enjoylife @ Jun 15 2008, 08:47 AM) eih This post has been edited by tschin1981: Jun 15 2008, 04:43 PMhow to go to BHP station? im coming from cheras using MRR2 i will passby 1 Petronas station on my left handside which is under a flyover... |

Tks for the info
But can I know y before 2 pm must go back? Is it becoz of the heat? I heard from my friend who went there b4 said they start the climb at 9am and come out at 7pm, is it got few trek trails over there? I think we can discuss more abt the trip to Nuang during our climb this Sunday, and will post more updates here from time to time. QUOTE(saadnordin @ Jun 19 2008, 01:29 PM) |

Arrh... my pc want able to display the map properly. Anyway i had search for the direction to get there and found the following:
"From downtown Kuala Lumpur, travel south to Cheras. After Phoenix Plaza, heading to the direction of Kajang. After paying the toll, you will notice a signboard stated Air Terjun Sg. Gabai on your left hand side. Turn left, then drive along and you will reach a junction with traffic light. You will notice a police station on your right hand side. Turn left and follow the direction of Pekan Batu.18. Go staright and after 20-30 minutes, you will reach Pangsun which is very near the entrance. Ask someone there and they will show you the way to the entrance" from: http://www.peakware.com/peaks.html?pk=2091 I suggest we meet somewhere at KL 1st b4 going to Nuang. Meeting point and time to be confirmed, also any1 can advise how much time it takes from KL town (let say KLCC) to Nuang? About the trip, i will post at the thread "Climbers Club", pls check it out... |
