Hi, I'm new at this forum and is rather new in KL area too. I'm a great outdoor fan and would like to join your activities.

I got bee stung on the way down too. Is there a way to deter the bees? Are insect repellants effective against the bees?

It's been a year since my last climb. Thinking of going up again soon.
*
A fly sheet would be very useful to carry around, especially to areas with bees or hornet (not me tongue.gif). In the case of bees or hornet attack, get as low to the ground as possible and use the fly sheet to cover up your entire body.

Actually is ok if you still want to go. As I still go with a group of us. The fastest we ever record was 2 hours 30 minutes for the whole climb.
*
2 hours 30 mins. Hmm....that's definitely possible. Would like to try it one of these days and see how fast we can go smile.gif

QUOTE(zombie @ Feb 12 2007, 04:58 PM)
For this tabur, usually we go up from the dam gate and hike up donno how many hills, and then somewhere near the highest peak, we go down a little torturing trail down the fruits orchard and then back to dam gate, right?

If we don't turn down to the orchard, and continue climbing the next hill, does anyone know how far more can we go?

How much further does the trail go and where will we end up if we continue on?
*
Yes, that's the usual trail that we took. The last time I went, I tried to continue climbing and there was a cliff with ropes that I went halfway down. But I decided to turn back as there were some other people in our group who might not be ready for the steep climb down. Besides, nobody knows where the trail leads to. Anyone? Want to try it someday? It looks like it's going back to the orchard anyway. smile.gif

Hey, I am organizing a trip to Bukit Tabur some time in September 2007 for the Malaysian Nature Society. I have checked with my coordinator and he said that outsiders are welcomed to join.

The plan in not concrete yet but is there anybody interested in joining the hike in September?

Further, I might need to do a recon job on Bukit Tabur earlier in July to prepare for the September trip. Anybody wanna join?

I myself am unfamiliar with the place and would love to have somebody with local knowledge to hike together with me.
*
I don't mind joining you if I'm around town. Just let us know when you are going smile.gif

juichuan
please post in the first page on how to get to the east trail

LoL, juichuan won't be around for the next week or so. smile.gif

Anyway, the entrance to east trail is behind the huge water pipes. There are staircases heading towards the river from the end of the road. You have to cross the river to go behind those pipes and you can see a path which will lead you up the east trail.

Btw, saw it on 8pm news just now that a girl just fell from the rope section of west trail and sustained serious injuries. Hope she is going to be fine. sweat.gif Everyone be careful when climbing yeah
