QUOTE(Moutzu @ Jan 3 2013, 05:05 PM) iPhone 5 support only 850MHz, 1800MHz and 2100MHz spectrums only. While Maxis and Celcom (Malaysian LTE) use 2600MHz spectrum for now. and there's also rumors that spectrum 1800MHz will be allocated as well. but it all still rumors. Huhuh correct me if i'm wrong. Was in Subang Parade Blue Cube yesterday to sign a contract, but need to get new number. They can't do it here (because they are dealer), only available at celcom centre. Oklah fine, then i opt for outright. They have a lot of stock (im looking for 16 black) but the tricky part, the phone bundled with accessories i.e screen protector & casing. Altogether need to pay RM2499.
The casing price is RM79 + screen protector RM59 (according to the salesman), total RM2199 + 59 + 79 = 2337. OH man they still markup the price. When i asked i just want to get it outright at price RM2199, they say can't because company not allowed to do so. Ok fine, so i just walked out the shop. Entered next to Bluecube, 'IStudy' shop (as stated in mall directory) and supposed they are Apple authorised reseller. Asking for the phone, they sell it at RM2299. I was like whatt??! Then i ask why is Apple Online Store selling at RM2199 and your shop at this price? The lady said oh like that one, our comp bought at 2k++ price, u go to every shop here also they sell approx at this price. Ok fine, again i walked out from the shop. Why every shop selling at different price just to make profit? On my out from the mall, saw the Cube right at the entrance. Asked the boy, yup retails at RM2199 but unfortunately the phone is out of stock. Maybe will be restock in 2 weeks time. Know its not easy to get a unit these days, but frustrated with the sellers attitude just want to make easy profit when the item is hot and oos everywhere plus with the ppl eagerness. Just sharing my experience, as consumer you have the rights and don't get fooled by the marketing strategy. I'm still looking for one, Apple Store will be my last resort. |

From what I understand, some Blue Cube are not under Celcom. Used to be in Seremban Celcom, the guys manning the Blue Cube were actually a company that was given Celcom dealership. After that, Celcom took over the blue cube section and they have been manning and operating the area even since. Now, any and all inquires, you want to buy or whatever are operated by them. Celcom will sell you the phone outright, and they don't actually force you to go and buy any accessories whatsoever which is where most dealers make their money. Only terms is you must be a Celcom customer to buy from them. At least, that was my experience. 3. Dealers would be dealers. I personally knew a few of them in Lowyat, all "monyok" because the hot iPhone 5 are not moving. To be honest, they still think that they can be "sharks", not knowing that most of their customers are now "dolphins". Heck, if you also buy from Apple Online Store then I also buy from Apple Online store. Add the fact that most debit cards these days works just fine for online purchases, and you have extinction recipe ready for these guys. |

QUOTE(leechers @ Dec 25 2012, 04:33 PM) actually the remedy to this is to force the device to just accept the 3g/umts signal rather than edge. which can be done using any android phone/tablet. to all that has gotten problem with 3g signali have samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and thats what suggested by celcom technical person themselves. and happily getting a strong signal with healthy speed. how i wish ios to have this feature too. hope that when jailbreak we will have this feature. for the sake of sharing. i bought a galaxy s3 yesterday (because i got enough of waiting for nexus 4). so what i did was i swap my iphone 5 sim card into my galaxy s3 and use in it. and for iphone 5, i use the old number (my primary number) which dont have any data plan. in galaxy s3 i force the device to only accept wcdma signal only. and the result are great, H+ all the time. no more edge. but the speed are not that great, but it is HSDPA speed not edge speed as previous i encounter using iphone 5. so what can i conclude is. 1. celcom network are not that great (yeah we all know this) 2. iphone 5 dont have capability to choose signal type as android. hopefully in the future they will include this feature. thats the remedy of our weak signal problem 3. no hardware issue in 3g signal (well, at least for my iphone) because the signal fluctuate and it is just like my galaxy s3 before i change the setting. so now my iphone 5 will only use wifi signal. crap. |

Just downloaded my December bill.
Bloody celcom charged me 5 bucks for the nano sim. I double confirmed at the Penang celcom branch while getting the nano sim from the customer representative. She said if u're buying the i5 from celcom, then no charges for the nano sim. If just want to change to nano sim then charge 5 bucks. Now they charged me 5 bucks for the nano sim. Small amount I know, but I called in to the CS @ 1111 to enquire. The CS can't even speak proper english and best part is she said less than 1 yr customer with celcom have to pay 5 bucks for the nano sim. I asked to speak to her manager, she put me on hold for about 10 mins, came back and ask me to go bck to Penang to look for that representative that spoke to me and ask back the 5 bucks for her. For goodness sake, what the hell is wrong with celcom man? |

And yes it's just 5 bucks.i also got my december bill, which is my 1st bill. porting from digi last 3 weeks. total 74.26, but since got advance payment, 150-74.25= - 75.24 so i no need to pay 2months bills because of advance payment. Small fart to me anyway compared to what I earn daily. Principles are principles. How do u expect ur customers to use the new phone with their existing sim card? Even if the phone is 20k I will rage. Simple point. |
