One click root is fun lol. This is issue is sure serious but not to the extent of remote control. User discretion is highly recommendable.

Added on December 17, 2012, 2:13 pmCan easily help my fren to root plus diable exploit using chainfire app. This guy is a legend

Added on December 17, 2012, 2:13 pmStock rom n kernel work fine.

I meant the camera firmware. Remember the GCF and ZCF camera firmwares, and ZCF kept giving trouble with some kernels?

I'm on Omega v4 (oh so ancient) but my camera fw is GCF.

Do that camera fw code check and see if it is ZCF causing the problem.

The most damning bit of code is this:

#ifdef CONFIG_EXYNOS_MEM [14] = {"exynos-mem", S_IRUSR | S_IWUSR | S_IRGRP | S_IWGRP | S_IROTH | S_IWOTH, &exynos_mem_fops}, #endif

Basically, it says, "Aw heck, write whatever you like to any memory address anywhere. I mean, we're all friends here. Right?"

Effectively, any installed app can ignore pretty much every single security setting on the phone and do whatever it likes to the running system. Worse, this could be coupled with a vulnerability in an otherwise well-intentioned app to create a remote root exploit.

Well, that should be the case, perhaps in fact steal all credential info from the phone including your gmail account name etc and read any shit on the phone. Like the good old days of the DOS command attrib -h -s -r

So solution: use nokia 3310 and airplane mode your GN2 when you play games hahahaha

Good thing is google play has its own security system to ban apps that contain any forms of exploit. Just download tthe patch from chainfire o voodoo if u r too worried about it

if not needing the device urgently and the package plan suit your usage, saving RM1k off the retail price is worth the wait for Maxis restock. Just saw the big ads they put in the Star today for the Note II RM1,199 Surfmore 75 promo.

how about

1. export ur note 1 contact to a vcard file, then send to note 2 via bt, from note 2 contact import the vcard
2. do a conversation backup in note 1, copy the whole whatsapp folder from note 1 to note 2, then install whatsapp from play store on note 2, during the setup it should pop up saying got backup, ask u whether u wanna restore

never face such problem upgrading from HTC Desire>>Desire HD>>Note>>Note II. Do you give some time for the sync to be completed? especially if you have a lot of contacts. Do check your gmail contacts at your computer to see whether the full contact list is at the web.

i thought Whatapps conversation history is saved at their server? hmm.gif
