I believe you can root without Unlocking bootloader. But not flashing custom recovery.

Dear all,

Want to ask about case/cover.
I got mine with the shop that sell the 32GB 3G version. The cheapo one but can fold to movie view or typing mode, so good enough for me.

But given the convenient form factor of N7, I use it to read ebook as well. I bumped into this case on this site, but I'm suspicious of website security.

So my questions:
1. http://www.moresales.com.my/catalog/entry/rhskoknl.shtml anyone know if the website is reliable. Or better anyone knows where got sell case like this
2. is this site also safe for online purchase? http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/browse/Table...17708&brandID=0

1. Reliable, but YMMV, take your own precautions. Forget the second site, those cases are even more expensive than brand name ones, forget about them.

Also, SMS and MMS have already been enabled to work on rooted devices. GSM is still under development. If you want to use SMS with it, the link is here. Disclaimer - you can only hold yourself responsible if you screw up your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998702

Using toolkit must unlock bootloader first than follow by rooting

Its not a software issue. Most probably won't. But its safer to do a backup first.

backup just to be safe but you MUST tell them not to format or erase anything when you send to SC. I did that and my data was intact when I got my n7 back from ASUS SC

Ok.. How to do full backup? I mean backup everything inside my nexus including apps.

Do I need to un-root my nexus 1st?

Do I need to bring whole package to school?

you can get the Google Nexus 7 toolkit (google it)...use option 2,1 to backup all your apps..it doesnt need you to root or unlock your bootloader...then manually backup your internal storage files to your PC..done. everything is backed up smile.gif

Experience at SC? Pretty good. They fixed my Screen Lift & busted speaker issue for FOC...the screen lift issue they replace the whole LCD and speaker replace new one - till now no issues (already about 1 month since fixed). Took about 4-5 days to get it done..pretty efficient!

Guys.. i just got my nexus 7 yesterday. My friend bought it for me from US.

I was shocked when testing my nexus 7. The screen is very washed out. It looks rather dull compared to my galaxy nexus. Everything on the screen just looks too 'white'. Do you guys think mine could be a faulty unit? I thought nexus 7 was supposed to have superb screen? I have tried turning it on and off.. and have run couple of apps on it. The screen just stays washed out and dull.

Do you think I can request for an exchange at malaysia asus center?

Forget from where I see it's possible for Nexus 7

Gnex only can do that for 4.0.2 and below.

laugh.gif I read reviews that nexus 7 has better screen than ipad? I'm still hoping my unit is faulty then i can exchange for a new one with much better screen. Compare with my galaxy nexus, such a huge difference.

The screen is only better in terms of the resolutions. Which means you get crisp text for reading and see less 'block' as compared to ipad 2. But the screen colour being washed out is a known issues accepted by all Nexus 7 users. laugh.gif

Can fix or not? Having been used to my galaxy nexus' screen, my nexus 7 just seems unbearable to me...
I went to the digital mall and tried out other tablets... their screens all have vibrant colours..mine just looks dull..
my nexus 7 screen looks just like those cheap tablets from china ...

Don't know if it's psychological effect or what, i think my nexus 7 screen just improved a little bit after charging.
