QUOTE(sebastianX11 @ Dec 23 2012, 09:32 PM) Still not growing out of the stock launcher & ROM yet. Went for a holiday, Nexus 7 is a gem... but then once I reach home it doesn't want to boot up. Battery's probably flat though, or it might be the dreaded 'dead N7' problem |

QUOTE(IceBlade97 @ Dec 24 2012, 08:45 PM) Now only I know newegg is like groupon but some owner say can go directly to their office to buy..somewhere in empire...?? Not like Groupon. Groupon is a coupon-style company, Newegg is basically importing electronics from Newegg US (a computer retailer) into M'sia. You can go to their office directly to collect your order or they can ship it to you. |

QUOTE(hiechelon @ Dec 25 2012, 06:23 PM) Dear all, 1. Reliable, but YMMV, take your own precautions. Forget the second site, those cases are even more expensive than brand name ones, forget about them. Want to ask about case/cover. I got mine with the shop that sell the 32GB 3G version. The cheapo one but can fold to movie view or typing mode, so good enough for me. But given the convenient form factor of N7, I use it to read ebook as well. I bumped into this case on this site, but I'm suspicious of website security. So my questions: 1. http://www.moresales.com.my/catalog/entry/rhskoknl.shtml anyone know if the website is reliable. Or better anyone knows where got sell case like this 2. is this site also safe for online purchase? http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/browse/Table...17708&brandID=0 Added on December 25, 2012, 6:27 pm cannot. search hi and lo and it's sounding CANNOT. No voice call, No SMS (can receive cannot send out, WTF), and cannot USSD also. Also, SMS and MMS have already been enabled to work on rooted devices. GSM is still under development. If you want to use SMS with it, the link is here. Disclaimer - you can only hold yourself responsible if you screw up your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998702 |

QUOTE(pherac @ Dec 25 2012, 11:16 PM) Thanks for the heads-up. After reading your comment, i think my nexus actually is fine. Samsung displays are known to be vibrant, regardless of make and model. Even their computer LCDs/LCD TVs have vibrant colors. Some like it, however some prefer natural and realistic colours like me, since I take photos a lot and am 'obsessed' with colour accuracy.Yea .. I'm used to my galaxy nexus screen which is more vibrant compared to nexus 7. Hopefully I will get used to it after some time but I'm always juggling between my phone and my tablet. |

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Dec 26 2012, 10:41 AM) It's actually not Samsung's fault to make over saturated screen. It's the Super AMOLED Technology itself. Samsung makes traditional LCD screens and those too are overly saturated. It's not just their AMOLED screens which have a viable explanation to the lack of colour accuracy. All OLED/AMOLED screen has color gamut over 100% in which most IPS only around 80 or less than 80%, only professional ones has near to 100% color gamut but it won't go over that. And your statement says samsung is known for overly-saturated screens because Samsung is the one manufacturing Super AMOLED for mobile devices and sell to other brands like Motorola and Nokia etc. |

Can't seem to send SMS even after patching and using a different kernel. Managed to copy APN settings and get mobile internet to work. Using Umobile. Receiving SMS is possible though.
Any help with this? This post has been edited by TheWandererX: Dec 27 2012, 05:16 PM |

QUOTE(hwa107 @ Dec 28 2012, 01:55 PM) @lucaswjk Devs are working on calling via the N7. SMS is enabled - just needs root and installing a simple compiled package for it to work. I can use SMS, which means I can activate Viber/WhatsApp.WIP = Work In Progress? Regardless of who beat who, you both are really helpful for me. Thanks a lot! |

Anyone have any idea if it is possible to send USSD codes via SMS? I want to use my normal prepaid Umobile plan with my N7 3G but since dialer wouldn't work, I am not able to do topups (*1xx*23412341234234#) and subscribe to mobile data (*1xx*1*1*3*x*x#).

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Dec 29 2012, 02:57 PM) depends on how lucky the customer is,im lucky enough to get a nexus 7 with a little issue compare to others, but still not lucky enough to get the perfect one Mine is perfect apart from the fact that I can't subscribe to my prepaid stuff through the USSD codes QUOTE(chaukeng @ Dec 29 2012, 03:26 PM) Only serious buyer will go through the hassle of having the fill up the form. Hence they don't have to avoid those people who flooded their facebook page asking for quatation just to know the price. Also, Newegg is currently only a 'dispatch service' acting for Newegg US which is an electronic wholesale retailer. They sell thousands of products, hence the need for separate quotations instead of being able to offer a fixed price as it might not be reflected in the US site.Btw, surprisingly my diamond screen protector arrives much sooner and schedule. The screen looks nicer on this. |

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Dec 29 2012, 07:09 PM) Erm... tak paham bro. QUOTE(chaukeng @ Dec 29 2012, 07:39 PM) Ya not just dull. It reduces the sharpness of the screen significantly (for me). I missed that kind of sharpness when i first saw the screen naked, and now its back. It certainly does. Using matte with my N7 right now cause I bring it everywhere with me & am too lazy to constantly give it a wipe-down. Matte is considered a tradeoff. In fact normal matte screen protector will also gather fingerprintss. the diamond bling bling effect can only be seen clearly when the screen is off. QUOTE(bulldog @ Dec 29 2012, 07:57 PM) Never believe in using screen protector Been wanting to look for a nice case for the N7 but so far the cases currently available look pretty meh. Even the original case's cover is flimsy, which spoils the fact that it has a lovely backing which mimics the back surface of the N7. Till now all my gadgets I have used not a single scratch My stuffs always in covered casing |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Dec 29 2012, 09:41 PM) Typical kid mindset I 'd say Words of wisdom right here. Pricing is also determine by branding I have been in manufacturing for past 38 years - allow me to quote an example Example apparel ( my speciality) : a polo T shirt cost about say US $ 5 to make - Nike will retail it for US$30, Adidas US$25, Puma US$ 22 , a lower branded one will retail US$ 15. Same quality of material, stitching - only difference is the brand . We sell these apparels at the same price +- 10% to these buyers. Branded ones has additional overheads in their promotion, paying sponsored players , higher overheads and staffing. Paying a higher price does not necessary means is better quality That case looks pretty good in terms of functionality - problem is, I'd have a problem getting it shipped to Malaysia. Parents aren't too fond of non-brick-and-mortar methods of shopping. |

QUOTE(LemonCoke @ Dec 29 2012, 11:17 PM) Hi guys,i just found out that all nexus 7 have google korean ime preinstalled.how come huh,it totally cant b uninstalled. LOL You can if you root your device. Install Titanium Backup, do a backup incase you need it, remove the IME.Devices are made to sell in various regions, which is why sometimes you have Thai/Indo IMEs in local phones. Not surprising. |

QUOTE(yanjinowa @ Dec 31 2012, 05:46 PM) Hi soyusa, may I know where do u see this? It is in their brochure. There is a free gift, go show it to them.I went to Ipoh SenQ in Ipoh Parade, they told me no free gift is given. Except, you could pay additional RM250++ for Mocran casing, screen protector and extra warranty for 2 years. Im considering to get nexus 7 or not now... or i will wait for nexus 10. Thank you. The 7 and 10 are in two different markets, one is a pocketable tablet and one is a full-fledged tablet. Make up your mind on what you need from a tablet before buying, that will save you from buyers remorse. |

QUOTE(xchaosdragon @ Jan 1 2013, 04:03 AM) Agreed, nexus 7 is able to run all of the current high-def games. The 7 even fits in my pant pockets and I'm wearing size 28, which is, well, TINY. However games that will be released later in 2013, I won't be so sure about it. However, I doubt you can enjoy a fluid performance/experience on a note 10.1(or any other android tablets), compared to Nexus 7. I find the current galaxy nexus, 3rd gen much better than sgs3, despite the terrible battery life. Added on January 1, 2013, 4:07 am True, if you are on the go person who would prefer a 7' tablet that you can bring around, Nexus 7 would be a good choice. On the other hand, if you prefer a benchmark killer 10" tablet, Nexus 10 is the one for you. Though you can hand-carry both of these gadgets, but I find a 10" tablet is quite cumbersome to bring around, as I rarely bring a bag around with me. Finally got a leather case for my tablet from Tropicana City Mall yesterday in one of those shops on the 2nd floor, surprisingly it cost RM62 - less than an RM10 difference from online sellers. Considering I was there for shopping, the extra few bucks was worth the time. Yesterday also my tablet managed to crash. First time that my Nexus 7 froze. While following Google Maps for navigation somemore. |

QUOTE(teckyang97 @ Jan 3 2013, 05:34 PM) Not all are scammers, not all aren't either. Nothing wrong to take precautions. It's our hard-earned money after all, unless it's your daddy's money, even so you should be smart enough not to be so foolish with it. QUOTE(kevin190791 @ Jan 3 2013, 06:07 PM) yup, it does work well, no problem to me so far Prepaid? Well, put it in another phone, dial *118*3*1#. 18 bucks per month plan if I am not wrong.anyone mind helping me? bought u mobile card, but dunno how to activate the internet on my tablet since cannot make call, caant check balance also However, bad choice to use prepaid with the N7. I am using it too, luckily I have a micro Sim adapter so I can reload and subscribe to the package on another phone. I suggest you swap to the postpaid U28 plan. Free SMS and 1GB quota internet, no hassle of reloading and subscribing either. N7 cannot access USSD codes at the moment so you can only topup with another phone. I'm planning to do so once I can MNP my prepaid later this month. |
