Add me as well........ Pure science 9 subjects.

BTW i'm stuck on this add maths question.

The question is:
''If B is a root of the quadratic equation 2x^2=x+1, show that 4B^3=3B+1.''

Anyone can help me?

solve the quad equation to find X and B = one of the X, then prove the equation.

I don't get the part about equating B to one of the roots of the first equation . Any hints ? Should the second cubic equation be solved also ?

the answer is B=1.

solve the quad equation.
when you solved the quad eq. you got two roots.
the root is 1 and -0.5 .

substitute both roots into the 4B^3=3B+1 .

you will find the answer is 1 because B=1 fits with the equation.

was hoping he'll get the answer himself ;p but yes, i got 1 too. -0.5 didn't fit.

The question isn't about proving the second equation ? blink.gif They want us to find the root the fits the B equation ?

Oh I kinda got it : Since B is a root of the first equation , if 1 fits the second equation , we have shown that the second equation is indeed true . Haha . Thanks by the way .

Thanks for the answer. rclxms.gif

I got it. So this question is asking about the value of B and use the value to show the qua equation right? I thought we only need to directly sub the B into the equation. sweat.gif
