QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 11 2013, 11:51 PM) well, design doesnt matters, its the specs that i matter the most. Ahhh, different people different perspectives dont wanna waste too much money for design, except if the quality looks good to me. Design is very important to me haha, and I'm glad that my current one looks great But time's have changed haha, now more into conserved notebooks like Illegear already... I just hope one day there will be a smaller and slimmer version (sick of carrying heavy notebooks around considering the fact that I already have a DSLR that weighs as much as my M14x) Illegear is a great choice I would say, especially now that they have listen to what we want and provide pickup and on-site support |

QUOTE(Hatikolam10 @ Jun 11 2013, 11:54 PM) Its a bit too early to tell. We have to see what the cooling system of the AW 14 is like and how easy it is to clean the fans and reapply thermal paste (the M14x was very very difficult for self-maintenance). Of course, we have to see whether there are any more upgrade options for the RE-15 as well But for the time being, the RE-15 has the upper hand in terms of price-performance ratio. And based on what I've seen over the year, a 14" gaming notebook will never be able to compete with a 15" gaming notebook one, especially if you are talking about performance |

QUOTE(Prince J @ Jun 11 2013, 01:29 PM) Dear cae1982, OK here's what happened. You must be Mr. Loong right? As per checking with the sales person and support staff, you reported BSOD with us and we immediately arrange next-day pickup from your location at Bukit Jalil on 5 June 2013. At first we tested your hardware and found all hardware components are in perfect condition. Secondly we re-installed Intel driver, did normal surfing, youtube etc like what you advised where the BSOD occurred, there is no BSOD found. You must be able to trace your internet explorer's history to look how many pages we have surfed within 4 days. Thirdly we do alt+tab, ac adapter plug in and out for hundred of times as per your statement where the BSOD occurred, but still no BSOD found. We shipped the laptop back after receiving your agreement and sent you an invoice for charging the pick-up and two-way courier cost (RM90) which we think you should responsible for that. That invoice was sent after we sent back your laptop and you can decide to pay or ignore if you think that bill is unreasonable. Finally we appreciate you gave us the business and let me know if I could assist further. I'm very busy and i agreed to pay extra rm 50 to get it delivered early because i'm going to delhi. i went to delhi and installed my laptop in delhi. I installed the windows and then the intel driver, amd driver. however i dont have the drivers for the wireless network card because i took the killer network 3 antenna option. so now i need to install the lan driver and find a wire lan cable to connect to internet. I connected to internet to look for updated amd driver and killer network drivers. whilst downloading i get a blue screen... restarted pc and i continued to download the amd driver updated it and still blue screen on random events while using the laptop. can be anything from touching the power button, closing internet explorer, playing online games, left idle to download. now i email the support department telling them i'm coming back in the morning and i dont really have time because i'm going off away in 3 days. i asked to be called back on phone because i'm short of time. i have weddings to attend and work to be done so i dont really have time to wait for email for instructions... staff told me to reinstall the driver using the diagnostic tools and run a stress test. which i did test ran perfectly and no blue screen. however i got a blue screen while playing game later and when i tried to plug in the charger another blue screen. enough is enough i just want to send it back. now when u receive the email as per you told me you did testings and no bsod which was quite magical in my opinion because i got it at least 10 times and i also had a witness with me. ofcourse then again you would argue is my word against yours. and yes i did have screen shots of the bsod maybe you can argue that i photoshopped with it. so now i have a conversation with your staff when i called from overseas. i wanted to dispute why i should pay for anything since the laptop is new your staff replied "is less than rm100 and i didnt ask you to pay for the time the staff took to repair and do the testing only the shipping charges " I said "now i dont have a laptop with me and i'm inconvenienced by it" he replied " it's not my problem i can't control when you go overseas" you see i know i have a busy month so i agreed to pay extra 50 to get the laptop early. please remember i installed the DRIVERS FROM THE CD BUNDLED WITH THE LAPTOP. I reinstalled the driver from amd website. and yes the files are sitting in drive E://browser download ... yea you can also ccheck from internet explorer if i went to the correct website and i still get blue screen look i paid rm 6400- 6500 in cash and extra 50 to get it delivered early. i got blue screen after installing the drivers... now tell me if a customer installs the drivers from the cd given tried to reinstall again from amd website and i got it sent back and you wanna charge me????... after you've wasted my time installing the drivers, the time that i couldn't use the laptop and the extra money i paid to get the laptop delivered early???? i don't want to mention this but also the frustration i get sometimes when talking to your staff???? i have to repeat myself and him telling me "it's not my problem i cant control when you go overseas" the scenario is quite simple i paid 6500 in cash so i can get a new laptop to use... it got sent back 2 days later.... tell me how pleasing can that be and it was only made worse by a staff telling me it's not his problem and asked to pay rm90 for it.. look if i pay rm 90 for sending it back to reapply thermal paste to the processor or for some other problem... i will gladly pay..... is not the money is the principle...... |

SSD is best for booting windows only, not advisable for running games, movies and heavy multitasking frequently, as this may degrade the SSD performance. |

QUOTE(cae1982 @ Jun 12 2013, 01:10 AM) there are high possibilities due to the killer wireless card driver or corrupted OS. also (im not siding illegear or anyone else), sometimes we may get lemon units. buying electronic items are not 100% guaranteed working fine after the 1st start up. so i can say its 95% fine, 5% for defects.but you may try whocrashed to scan which part of the drivers made your computer went 'mad'. post up a log about the crash dump and share who is the culprit in your computer. |

I believe there are some misunderstanding on the conversation part above after "why i should pay for anything since the laptop is new." He's replying "We charged user the courier costs when we pickup the laptop and found that the laptop has no problem at all." And then you replied "Do you think it's fair for me? I have no laptop now in oversea." Our staff replied "I cannot control when you are heading to oversea but we checked the laptop for many hours and no BSOD occurred so we charge you the courier costs." This simply meant the fee we are charging doesn't relate to your schedule to oversea, it's due to we didn't find any problem from your laptop after picking it up and had it shipped to the repair center, and we think it's fair to ask for reimbursement since the cost incurred is not small. If we were not trying to help at first we wouldn't arrange pickup immediately after you called us. After that you talked about the blue screen screenshot evidence claimed the frequent blue screens you encountered was not the same as our testing result and argued why you need to pay for the fee. He replied that "you can choose to pay or not and we are okay to waive the fee because of understanding that is a new laptop and now we are doing final test if still no BSOD found then we will send the laptop back." Moreover, the laptop was supplied without Windows OS and all drivers must be installed by the users. If that laptop was supplied by ILLEGEAR with pre-loaded Windows we would make sure all the drivers are installed correctly prior to delivery. I didn't want to mention this but we found the system was installed with a pirate windows 7 ultimate. Just for your information normally we don't provide any software support to system that installed with pirate windows because any bad thing can happen on it. You are right sometimes it's not all about money, if we care about money we wouldn't send the laptop back to you without asking for the RM90 credited into our bank account first. We totally understood your frustration being a buyer but sending laptop back within 2 days however 1. The laptop has been tested in perfect condition and no BSOD is found, we also wasted 4 day labor hours and two-way shipping costs for the testing on a good operating machine. 2. We understood the BSOD maybe occurred at your side but disappeared after sending in probably due to GPUs drivers reinstallation, that's why we agreed to waive the RM90 cost. 3. The whole testing process was completed efficiently and extended test was performed as per agreement with you. This post has been edited by Prince J: Jun 14 2013, 11:20 PM |

BSOD issues are not easy to solve. Had the same problem with an old Toshiba Satellite M500 (which is know to have this issue universally).. but the thing is its not easy to "reproduce" the BSOD, making customers hard to show to the technicians the problem; and also hard for the technicians to spend an entire day "waiting" for a BSOD to happen
Raymond is right, sometimes we do get lemon units, it just depends on luck |

QUOTE(raymondtong94 @ Jun 12 2013, 01:12 AM) 1TB 5400rpm is sufficient for a windows 8 powered lappy. 5400 rpm is pretty slow to start with, especially for a performance notebook like Illegear SSD is best for booting windows only, not advisable for running games, movies and heavy multitasking frequently, as this may degrade the SSD performance. And it will only get slower as it ages and gets filled up. I would suggest going for a hybrid HDD with mSATA at least for faster performance, and perhaps upgrade to an SSD when budget permits later on, I'm sure Prince J wouldn't mind helping to upgrade My personal experience with big @ss HDD is that we tend not to think so much when we save stuffs, in the end we get ALOT of files that can be hard to manage (not mentioning slowing down the computer as well since there's more files to read and find). With a smaller sized (and of course way faster) SSD, you will learn how to organize your files wisely, keeping the notebook top-notch, always Just my 2 cents |
