well, my book studio is for Mac.
Windows cant detect the partition on my computer
but you able to reformat it into NTFS/FAT

BUT, if you are using pc, forget this model cuz, you dont have firewire 800
get normal Mybook essential will do ( i not sure got esata or not)
but USB one

FAT yes!

NTFS, you need paragon for ntfs

hey but i got a mybook studio for my windows operated laptop a few months back. it worked after i reformatted it. but now that ive switched to mac. well, i can read the files, but i cant copy anything INTO the hdd. can copy out, but not in. hmm does that mean i need to reformat it again?hmm.. hmm.gif

most probably the security issue. u can read but can't modify. make sure u enable full access to everyone.
this is jz my wild guess since i've never used mac b4 (not yet...not yet)

@llsphinxll,
Use Disk Utility to reformat ur drive and this time make sure it is both Windows & Mac compatible. I've no problems with the 2 WD external HDD of mine.

i reckon your mybook is ntfs formatted. if thats the case, than you got to install paragon ntfs, which will enable your leopard system to not only read, but write files on a ntfs drive. snow leopard will natively support it though. paragon ntfs is not free though, but there is another free alternative, which i cant think of the name at the moment.

mac's are hfs+. windows are nowadays ntfs. some old xp machines are fat32 format, but fat32 has a limit of 4gb (i think) in terms of the size of file you can transfer. correct me if i'm wrong.

it's because NTFS issue
normal Mac cant write NTFS file format

try googling NTFS 3G

now its even better, they incorporated macfuse and 3G in a single file IIRC

Finally, the touch screen work nicely. Took out the wacom, and cut some fat. Now is as thick as iBook G4 12". Love the portrait mode.
