Agreed with you. Just my 2 cents.

Why not? You use a mac just for the OS. If i can save some cash buying a pee-cee and installing os x on it...i would do it...its not that the mac hardware is so great. maybe the mbp is slim...but...its not that ground-breaking and its so expensive given the specs...just my opinion.

You couldn't be more wrong bro, Macs are actually wonderfully engineered and packaged product, its almost a perfect combination of hardware and OS. And gone is the myth that Macs are expensive, go configure a similar product spec on Dell and you will see the price is quite similar.

AND the fact that so many people are running Windows on Macs now proves that Mac's hardware is GOOD. Users of Windows on Macs will tell you that it runs very much more stable than most PCs. Do a search, i cant remember when and where, the fastest running Vista machine is a Mac.

I wouldn't say Macs are "groundbreaking" though, just that PCs' market is spoilt by clones, compared to Macs where everything comes from Apple, obviously it runs more stable that way.
*
yea bro i know what you are trying to say...well, last time i would say that they are well engineered...but these days when they start producing more..more problems crop up....well, you can see them in various forums...but to be fair, forums are where people complain and well most pc forums too have tonnes of terrible complaints...

well, i did configure a few machines and well, macs are still expensive la bro...but of course, the difference has come down..i remember many years ago, they were much more expensive..i had a hard time justifying to my dad why i needed a mac.

well, more people are running windows on their macs, yes i agree. but a lot of people these days, esp switchers are moving to macs because they can try os x and at the same time run windows in case they need it for specific softwares...

yea, i read the article that mbp is the fastest windows machine..which is ironic but at the same time nice to hear for us mac users.

Let's say one day someone hack iPhone OS too and anyone can install it with their Nokia or HTC. And they tell you that you paid too much for your iPhone and in the end it's just the OS. How do you feel then? I'm pretty sure you will tell them it's not just the OS that simple...
*
yea..totally understand what you're saying..i would not be happy too...but maybe if i own one and when its time to upgrade my iphone..i may reconsider the options..u know....

the reason why probably i would still buy apple - to support them...as in...if everyone goes hackintosh..then apple will have less business...but i do hope they keep up with their hardware specs (talking macbook here) and if they are really going to charge much more than other companies...i hope the hardware is special enough.

like the mba..i might not think too hard on putting my money down because its unique...really slim and has some nice touches to it. but computers like the sony vaio z sometimes makes you wanna go hackintosh....its slim as well and powerful...maybe no multi-touch...but it can be done without

n20nine gave a good point though but maybe sounded as if he is criticizing Mac. Chill ya people. hmm. have an apple everyone.

Yes, n20nine i agree that Mac is over priced for the same hardware spec u can get in a PC but as a MBP user for more than a year, I seriously think it is $ well spent.

Probably if you were to use OS X on a PC, you might not experience the full performance. As such, the macs are designed to fully utilize processor they have such as the santa rosa chips. They did an experiment on it and Vista prove to under utilise the hardware resources given, compared to mac which fully utilise the hardware given.

My MBP also got other cool hardware features such as light ambiance detector, multi-touch pad (very useful) and it is pretty light for it's size and category of laptop. I downloaded a widget that showed me the different temperature for each part of my mbp, such as the heat sink, fan A, fan B, CPU, memory control.

My acer laptop is just lying in the cupboard. I have not even bother to on it since i changed to mac. No reformating, no crashing, no virus, no spyware and all sorts of rubbish.

Chill people. Different people work differently. Everyone have their own choice. Thats why we got Windows and Apple.

ya i guess ur right there are the added touches to the hardware...but thats the pro version...i wished the mb had some nice stuff in it...at least a better screen ler...actually as i type, i am well....doing my daily visit to the mac rumor sites...hoping for news on the MB/MBP. I wish they would bring back the 12" PB or a 13" MBP, but those are..well still dreams atm.

hey but i got a mybook studio for my windows operated laptop a few months back. it worked after i reformatted it. but now that ive switched to mac. well, i can read the files, but i cant copy anything INTO the hdd. can copy out, but not in. hmm does that mean i need to reformat it again?hmm.. hmm.gif
*
i reckon your mybook is ntfs formatted. if thats the case, than you got to install paragon ntfs, which will enable your leopard system to not only read, but write files on a ntfs drive. snow leopard will natively support it though. paragon ntfs is not free though, but there is another free alternative, which i cant think of the name at the moment.

mmm mac is using fat32? i tot windows can also read fat32?

mac's are hfs+. windows are nowadays ntfs. some old xp machines are fat32 format, but fat32 has a limit of 4gb (i think) in terms of the size of file you can transfer. correct me if i'm wrong.
