Hi TS, would you recommend me a TV box, solely stream TVB dramas, Chinese singing programme like: Voice of China, I am A Singer, etc?

House is currently using 4mbps streamyx.

Does the TV box comes pre-installed with XBMC / Kodi? It's for my parents, they are not very tech savvy, so....... sweat.gif

Thanks! icon_rolleyes.gif

To meet your requirement, need combination of few apps. I could preinstall the combination for you Because uyour internet only 4Mbps yyou might not able to have have smooth HD streaming, you could choose SD resolution. Alternatively when your line is too slow yyou can download and watch later.

For elder parent, I would advise to subscribe to paid IPTV service like cloudtv which more easy to access and some level of service warranty.

KODI is pre-installed .If you have budget constraint, H8 should be sufficient. If you could affort, I would advise Q16 Quad Core.

Cloudtv package is affordable USD5 per month, but we do not provide subscription service, you could subscribe from the cloudtv app online.

Just pmed to you.

I have installed IDST Monster Pro (Trial Version) life TV app on my Q16, but after a few times of switching to different TV channels, the screen stop responding, unable to use the remote to select channels or other options, worse more, the screen pop-up "Monster Pro Trial isn't responding, do you want to close it" window, and I have to close it, restart the box, everytime can only last for few time of channel switching, not sure what was wrong, anyone tried this app before? I thought my Q16 is a quad-core device which should be able to support the life TV app ...Need advise. Thank you.

As per our whatsapp chat, finally the problem has been rectified. Please keep observe when you installed new apps just in case the root cause come from apps conflict. Enjoy your show.

Really appreciate your help Nicety to settle my problem on the IDST installation, and now it runs flawless without any lag or hang on the Q16.

After separate discussion (thru whatsapp) with Nicety and the IDST dealer, I thought the Q16 hardware setup should be strong enough to handle live TV, but the original MG launcher may be disturbing other IPTV apps, so eventually made a decision to "Factory Reset" the Q16, install a third party launcher (Nova) ,re-install the IDST app, and result was good, remote can select channels without hang, TV screen without lag.

initially we thought it could be due to the third party launcher, but after un-install the launcher, the IDST still running good under the original MG launcher, that means the "factory reset" has help settling the problem, probably clash of IDST vs some apps.

So far have already re-installed Popcorn and Showbox, all running good, will try to install more apps copied from Nicety's OneDrive to see if the problem would happen again, anyway, this save me from buying another box which has inferior specs than the Q16, thanks.

yep, i noticed it last night. was waiting for someone to report first!

this "unifi china quota finished disease" recurs every 2 months - sep 2014, nov 2104 and now, jan 2015.

the last 2 times, it took about 2 weeks for the disease to be cured.

but can expect it to return in mar, may, july.... mad.gif

I was quoted rm400 / yr (for Monster Pro app apk), including many channels from China/Taiwan/Thai/Mal/Sing, RM700 including TVBox + apk. The TVBox is a quadcore Hisilicon CPU, but with only 1G ram and 8G Flash.

I am currently using asiadub, the channels are laggy, many channels always under maintenance, difficult to log-on during peak time (after 8pm) and weekends...IDST has very little lag (only during initial channel change), much more stable than the asiadub.
