QUOTE(plasticguy @ Jan 24 2015, 03:22 PM) Really appreciate your help Nicety to settle my problem on the IDST installation, and now it runs flawless without any lag or hang on the Q16. Hi plasticguy, it's blessed to see you this post about iDST problem on Q16, I am also facing exactly the same problem as you. Could you please list me the steps to rectify compatibility issue iDST on Q16, your Q16 is quad core right? ThanksAfter separate discussion (thru whatsapp) with Nicety and the IDST dealer, I thought the Q16 hardware setup should be strong enough to handle live TV, but the original MG launcher may be disturbing other IPTV apps, so eventually made a decision to "Factory Reset" the Q16, install a third party launcher (Nova) ,re-install the IDST app, and result was good, remote can select channels without hang, TV screen without lag. initially we thought it could be due to the third party launcher, but after un-install the launcher, the IDST still running good under the original MG launcher, that means the "factory reset" has help settling the problem, probably clash of IDST vs some apps. So far have already re-installed Popcorn and Showbox, all running good, will try to install more apps copied from Nicety's OneDrive to see if the problem would happen again, anyway, this save me from buying another box which has inferior specs than the Q16, thanks. |

QUOTE(nicety @ Mar 6 2015, 10:24 PM) Yes, I have tried it in dual core and quad core. Do you press the 3D button on remote and select SBS 3D? Yeah, I press the 3D blue button on remote control, it pops up a 3D setup menu, I chose original mode, the screen still display SBS, which is indeed the movie original 3D format, when I chose SBS to 2D, the screen plays in normal display, then chose again "original mode", the screen switch back to SBS.Please sent me the screen where you just press the 3D button. I thought there is some flaw in the movie file, I then downloaded THX, dolby and Sony 3D testing movie, the screen still shows SBS. I've recorded a short video to show you, download link => http://rapidgator.net/file/bce00cdaa8aa7ca...52823.mpeg.html |

QUOTE(nicety @ Mar 7 2015, 10:43 PM) Just alert me when you ready. Hi Nicety,I did quick capture of my screen for your reference as below. The first screen is before click "SBS to 3D". The second screen is after click. Thank you very much for your help in sorting out my 3D movie playback problem on Himedia Q16 box last night. It was late in the night, but you still patiently guided and explained to me where the problem was. I was greatly indebted to you. Although the 3D movie playback not succeeded in my case, with the help and explanation from Nicety, I would like to alert those people who own this box and wanted to playback 3D movie on a non-3D TV, it is not feasible at all. The bottleneck is on the TV itself, not the box, the box is good enough to output the 3D movie format however for a non-3D support LED/LCD TV, the TV itself doesn't understand the signal or it is blocked by itself internally, you won't be able to get a 3D superimposed image either from a SBS or TAB 3D format movie. A last word, if you want to watch 3D movie output from Q16, go get a 3D capable TV. Don't be confused with those software decode output that you get from PC software like KMPlayer, even there is an android version KMPlayer, the developer can't make a 3D option as limited by the OpenGL version in Android. Nicety, you are a NICE seller. Thumbs Up |

Being called upon by Nicety, I would like to share the steps to root your himedia box Q16 Quad Core, and it is applied to Q5 Quad Core too.
Whoever using Quad Core box and firmware version 1.0.7, please stop trying the root method on post #1017 in this thread, you would be in deep shit like what I did. Ok, here are the steps to root: Below rooting steps are collection information I gathered from various sources on net and my 2 weeks time spent on trial and error deep shit process. If you happen that your box is bricked, don't FUCK me.!! Go buy another new set from Nicety. 1.) If your Q16/Q5 Quad Core box is purchased from Nicety, not from taobao or directly brought from Mainland China, then read on, you would have a big leap in rooting process, you can root your device in a simpler way if not.... 2.) Get a USB drive, file system must be FAT32, download root package file from here, unpack it, save it to a directory you name it,my case is "C:\root_unroot" and then copy those unpacked files to your USB drive root directory. 3.) Power up your box, plug your USB drive into USB 3.0 port, DO NOT plug into USB 2.0 port. Dont' ask me why, I don't understand what's the logic behind, I've never tested it by plugging into USB 2.0 port to root, and since I'm too eagerly to get my box rooted, I don't want to try as I have had enough deep shit so far. You can try it out on your own and feedback here 4.) In your media box, click on dev tools app, look for the settings "USB debugging", select that option 5.) Now leave your box alone, switch to work on PC. Make sure your box and PC must be connected within the same LAN same subnet, a lot sources on internet giving out the warning that using adb shell, the PC must be use LAN wired, wireless would fail. I can assure you, wireless connection in PC give no whatsoever error or interruption in connecting adb shell between PC and media box. Ok, In PC, open up the command prompt, navigate to root package file directory, my case C:\root_unroot, type "adb connect <himedia_box_IP>:5555, hit enter key. i.) c:\root_unroot> adb connect 192.168.1.10:5555 <enter> ii) command prompt will show connecting/starting daemon blah..blah..blah, wait you see the message "connected to <your_himedia_box_IP> iii) C:\root_unroot> adb shell <enter> and you'll see the adb prompt like "root_Hi3798CV100:/#" 6.) Now we need to check our USB drive mounted path name. key in command "mount" and hit enter key You'll see one whole chunk of text, look for text line something like this "/mnt/sda/sda1 vfat", your device may be different from mine, jot it down, that's the path we need later. 7.) We navigate to the USB drive. In adb shell, key in "cd /mnt/sda/sda1" and hit enter 8.) To view the files that you copied to USB drive root directory in step(2), key in "ls" and hit enter, you'll see a list of files: adb.exe su SuperSU.apk root.sh and etc..... 9.) Now, this is the important step, time to get your divcie ROOTED. key in "./root.sh" and hit enter, you'll see the message "root finish...System will be restarted in 3 second...", your himedia box should be rebooted. 10.) Afer finished booting, open the app "SuperSU", the app should prompt you to update binary file, select ok, and then it prompts you install in "normal" or "WTCM"..can't really remember, just select "normal". SuperSU will download and install the rest. 11.) To verify if your device is successfully rooted, go to play store and download the app called "Root Checker". You will happy to see the green text telling you that your device has root privilege. In step(1), I said the rooting steps above are only applied to device from Nicety, if you purchase from Taobao and its manufacture date earlier than Oct 2014, then you need to spend another 20 over bucks to purchase TTL cable, you can get it in lelong site. Why you need TTL cable for china version device, well, himedia staff is too strict to china local users, himedia has disabled the adb function and root privilege, as well as USB debugging. That TTL cable is to unlock it. However, to use TTL cable on himedia box, you need open up the box, your box warranty surely voided, think before you do or you may consider do it after warranty period over. |
