used to. but chose mavic instead. i read that paired spokes got really high tension. if breaks, go out of true like crazy

the tension is the same lar... they are as high as any low spoke count wheels...can't say that much for rolf wheels as their wheels go as low as 12-14 spokes...

the problem is spoke spacing is very big compared to normal lacing... and if a spoke breaks... the neighboring spokes that are far apart have to bear a lot extra burden and tension...

my pair of xero's XSR-1 was paired spoke too.. not the same paired spoke method as the rolf ...but it was paired together...broke spokes like hell.. but still rideable (at least to get home lar)

that is why the winiums are so enticing...paired spoke never fails...

even shimano got suckered into playing that game with them in the r-540 that was an epic failure...

there are endless debates on the pros and cons of paired spoke.. the paired spoke camp claims the lateral rigidity is better with paired spokes but the normal folks claims it is a whole load of horse shit and their reliability problems outweigh their benefits...

jus ask your friend be a nice boy and buy some sensible wheels... wheels are best to be sold by many shops... speaking frankly...

this is so you don't suddenly find the only shop selling the wheel you bought to close shop and then you are stuck with a broken wheel...

other than that, competition also high and you hope they hentam each others price...

303 lar.. unless you friend has a spez tarmac or venge... or planning to buy one...

303 is the most middleground in case your friend is still in the fickle minded state... only 13mm difference of height between all models...32mm - 45m - 58mm

light enough to still climb considerably well and yet still quite deep considering the rim height... wide rims for good tire seating and firecrest shape is good in the wind...and there is carbon clincher too for the weight of almost 70 grams lighter than a pair of FR0...

why do i start to sound like a salesman??? dafug

like butthead says, go with 303 if ur fren not planning to own a spez and insist on burning 7-8k. my fren would go with 303 as well.

but, being a sensible fella, my fren chose to go with a common tried and tested alu low profile wheelset instead. maybe in future he'd get a 303 too, just for smooth and flat route.
