take note rize requires you to have another bank account (other than al-rajhi) for this digital only bank app to work. It doesn't have a website to login and fully utilizes the rize app on your phone to login or make any transactions. You can get their debit card which is nice as even the primary al rajhi bank is not supported in pretty much every site I visited - grab, touch and go, etc - when u try to topup - you can't select al rajhi (likely due to not popular in malaysia). but with the debit card you can utilize it to do topups etc. It will send TAC to your phone for each topup, but after a while the TAC will go away as it recognises more frequent transactions from the merchant.

Just curious, are there any banks with cash deposit machines that accept RM 1 and RM 5 notes?

So far I only know Hong Leong has it, but other than that are there any alternatives?

same here - it could also be because they're new as well but I definitely agree this is one of their stronger points. I bought steam games and immediately they called me to confirm if I made such transaction. I did notice it was mostly for from overseas companies like steam and ebooks from Kobo as well. Was yours due to transacting from an overseas company like Steam?

Seems like they updated the article already, I think most Maybank CDM nowadays don't accept RM 1 and RM 5 notes anymore, at least from what I've seen from the branches that I usually visit. But thanks a lot for sharing. biggrin.gif

Anyone here experienced issue with opening savings account at HSBC before?

When I went to their self service machine for identity verification, I got this message on the screen instead and didn't get any info about my new account number.

Does this mean they're gonna ask me to purposely visit their branch just to do another part of verification soon?

I see, I thought the process is gonna be seamless and mostly remote, since recently they kept promoting how easy it is to open an account with them online with all the cashbacks and such.

If they're telling me to visit their branch again then I have to cancel my application, since I already visited once using their self service machine which already defeats the purpose of opening an account online in the first place. sweat.gif

Opening account online is seamless but the document verification part is where they do not disclose on how seamless it be hence which is why you’re in such current state. If they would have inform it will be a different story as banks are known to over promised and under delivered 🤦‍♀️

Apparently they didn't give me a call today, but their FB CS said that I would have to directly call them for further assistance, I think I'll just leave the application there and let them auto cancel it, no point of wasting my time and money on phone bill because I already expect them to give me bunch of excuses to not let me open an account judging from the bad experiences with HSBC shared by many forummers here.

Thanks a lot for letting me know about the physical documents thing, otherwise I could've really wasted my time while getting nothing in the end. sweat.gif

All banks have similar procedures on these but HSBC is the worse because they will leave customer hanging without updates and status of the opening 🤦‍♀️

Physical documents is common is just that the way how each banks handles it but HSBC take it another whole new level 🤦‍♀️
