I was never a Citibank customer, and I tried applying for their credit cards just last week.

Today, received an email from myesmail@citi.com with the title Welcome to Citibank Electronic Statement.

Does this mean my application has been successful?

i cant recall if that is the same email add for statements. Googled and #2: Citibank UK - Fraudulent Email

I advice you to call up citibank CS to ask about your application status.

Normally is 6 months only can be re-apply.

However, I have exp this before as I apply a bank of credit card but get rejected at first, 2 or 3 weeks after, I try to re-apply, I tot the bank wont approval anymore since I just got rejected, just try and see, but the bank has approve my cc application. brows.gif

Not sure what is the policy of the bank.

Bank nowadays don't give reason for rejection.

My income > pre-requisite but they told me to come back next year. So as i said earlier, if you are not happy, then there's nothing you can do except to keep re-applying and wait for a better luck.

Besides, bank nowadays has weird ways to calculate the risk factor for one individual.

just my humble opinion - based on my past experience, standchart is the easiest foreign bank to approve yr cc ... after gotten it, use it for about 1 year, then try citibank - your success rate will be higher ...

if you can't even get standchart, go for local bank cc - any tom, d*** and cat's local bank will do ... after gotten it, use it for about 1 year, then go try foreign bank issued cc ...

but youngsters / freshie should note that cc is a loan shark dressed in bikinis - so don't get trap trying to be champion in accumulating points or buy un-necessary just to top your cash-rebate ...

always consider cc as a tool to help u when u don't have access to cash during emergency only ... if you can't help swiping cc non-stop everyday, then it's good to have very low credit limit cc ... using cash is not such a bad idea after all because you will stop buying if your ATM is out of cash ... if you don't / can't balance between using cash and cc, you're on your way to huge debts ...

and it's not wrong to have the very basic cc instead of platinum ... it's your spending habit that counts ... i've a silver citibank card since graduate and never plan to upgrade it (though many times citibank kept asking me to, to the extent they sent me pre-approved cards many times) b'cos i know i don't need a ferrari to travel from Sg Wang to Bukit Bintang laugh.gif

over time after u finished servicing yr housing and car loans (if u have any), any banks will approve your cc b'cos of your track record in credit history ... again, we're not in the cc spending competition so spend wisely ... biggrin.gif

just my opinion ... cheers ...

Fyi, i got credit cards from local bank and yes, stanchart credit card too. Many many years already. Can bank know if i got a landed property, if that house fully paid by parents, and transferred ownership to me. Will they know i got property in my bank records? Even though i did not pay for the housing loan
