here's the deal...if you expect something from RM 100 or below then i dont think you will get one. cause there wont be any CHEAP but good and silent hotels.

if you want better hotels i think you have to pay from RM 101 - 150.00

Hotel Caliber, Cheras = RM 110.00
Radius International = RM 140.00
Hotel Nova
Allson Genesis
Hotel Flamingo
Hotel De Palma

I think second choices goes to Agora . Or you can choose Hotel Malaysia . Its opposite Agora. Look dull and ugly from outside but the room is clean.

Agora

1 more hotel you should consider

Cardogan Hotel

My advise : If you go on weekend, you should book early.

i stay at 4 budgget hotel at PJ/Kl before, will rank from best (also value for money) to worst

1: bestotel @ jalan ipoh - RM75 at weekdays only, rank no.1 coz cheapest but cleanliness still ok, no wifi provided, but got free breakfast (only fried bi hun and sirap)
cleanliness - 3 star
value for money - 5 star
2: yy38 @ tengkat tongshin - RM220 for family room (1 queen 1 single bed), most clean coz newest but paling not worth the money imo. the twin room might be worthy coz rm140 only. got free wifi but easily dc, very unstable.
cleanliness - 4 star
value for money - 1 star

3: A&N motel at damansara - less than rm80, cleanliness is ok la, but the room to me feel like is those ppl call ayam and go there de :S
cleanliness - 3 star
value for money - 4 star

4: sun inns at sunway mentari - worst of the worst, less than RM100, worst in terms of cleanliness. worst and paling wont recommend ppl go. Please AVOID! i think no wifi.
cleanliness - 0 star
value for money - 1 star

PS: cleanliness is based on budget hotel standard, value for money is based on what i feel on it.

Which part of Shah Alam? That's one pretty huge area  biggrin.gif

If near Sri Muda area (based on latest malfreemaps) , there are few such as:
1) Sri muda Corner
2) Mutiara Inn
3) Royal Comfort Hotel

In Sec 19 =D'Palma (but not really budget -3star)

Closer to UITM, Sek3 , Few rated hotels but probably these are not (Not sure):
1) Intekma &
2) Delta Apt hotel

Don't ask me on the contact, I just extracted from what available in the maps...probably u can google on those hotels  blush.gif

Genting Hotel Room Rates for 2006

(below is my own opinion about those hotels)
First World ,
its standard room is quite ok liao, compare to the price,
you can get cheaper if you book the room during some promotion/low season.
Near to: first world new casino, shop lot, restaurant/foods, cinema (Starbucks, CoffeeBean, A&W, pizzahut, KFC, mcD, etc).
you have to walk like few mins to reach theme park, and quite far if you want to go the old casino, very far to skyway cable cars station

Genting Hotel
i would recommend highland hotel than this, since this hotel room price is quite expensive,
near to old casino, arcade games, quite near to skyway cable cars station, alot clubs/pubs, POS MALAYSIA

Highland Hotel
most expensive hotel room from genting (if compare to deluxe room's standard),
mostly reserve for members only.
very near to skyway cable cars station, very near to old casino,
Good Friends Restaurant aka hou yao kei, alot Restaurants as well,

* if you think sitting at First World's Starbucks looks cool and nice environment,
try go resort hotel's Coffeebean, you will know which one is better
(some dont even know the existent of this Coffeebean)

ThemePark Hotel: not bad actually, the best is near outdoor activities.

First World Hotel: Cheapest but long way to go Casino or Outdoor ThemePark. If u like to shopping or u going with gf. You better choose this, nice environment.

Genting Hotel: kinda expensive and the original hotel, history hotel. Leads to everywhere in short distance except FirstWorld

Highlands Hotel: I love this , near restaurant especially my favourite dim sum and char siew rice there. Very near Casino, gambler loves it ( me too) but also costy. Newest hotel, so wont have such a smell like what Genting Hotel has but this only a problem to sensitive people.

Resort Hotel: Never Try Before... no commend because everyone said the worse.

others like Ria Apartment, sucks. Tried twice , walking like hell like hiking. Reached up there i already sweating and tired. You like exercise? Do it then.

* You know why Genting Hotel stinky? remember the brown colour mattress? They never wash it , u know? I'm not kidding.... I heard about it long time ago until I worked there and my friends still working in Genting. *

usually rooms are based on twin sharing.. 2 ppl sharing a room... so if u have 3 ppl... then u add extra bed... and usually breakfast are included in the room rates.. so again if u have 3 ppl then u need to add breakfast to the 3rd person smile.gif

yeah.. single supplement are usually more expensive than twin sharing cause u are getting a twin sharing room (two beds or one queen size bed) but staying alone and baring the cost on your own. whereas twin sharing, you share the price with ur room mate..

kindly refer to the first post for websites. Go to those websites and find the hotels according to the star ratings of your choice. They have phone numbers there. try calling them up and ask. that is the best way to get the rates . good luck!

white house's still there 2 months ago when I went back for CNY. And the night life in KB is getting better, at least there are more places to go out and yam cha.

The bangunan persekutuan... I'm not sure if its the same building I went to settle my stuff last time. If it is then its not really at jalan doktor, you're gonna have to walk down a couple of streets (relax they're really short). The bangunan is facing the courthouse of KB.

If you want chinese food go to Jalan Kebun Sultan, that is our chinatown of sorts.

As for tourism. Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (continue until the world ends)

There is nothing amazing there anymore...believe me....
There is no "feel" of resort/vacation area anymore since the massive construction of local apartment and houses.
"The sea is no fun"
Around that price, Casuarina is good enough (all room facing beach).

Along the beach in tanjung bungah has lotsa hotels. In town there's Cititel. Berjaya Hotel(if i'm not mistaken), and a few others i forgot, hehe. Whereas in Bukit Jambul area there has Equatorial Hotel, Vistana and in bayan baru area there's a Hotel Malaysia. For prices, i think online can check. smile.gif and yes 1926 lama sudah tutup. nice concept tho.. smile.gif hope i helped u a bit bit.. cheers..

for me, i'll opt for either northam or gurney hotel. best in the area, especially the gurney suites with 2 bedrooms. if u can get someone to hook u up, u can get the room for like 250. for the beach area, either u go bt feringghi or tj bungah, tj bungah is abt 15 mins fr the city, prices there range fr 200+ i think, for copthorne, crown jewel, and paradise. bt feringghi is abt 30 mins fr city, but longer stretch of beach and more tourists, usually ppl will go for park royal, holiday inn or golden sands. 200+ as well. smile.gif for me, i'm not a city person so i'd definitely not stay in the city. ppl might say easier to go clubbing n stuff, but takkan u wanna club during ur whole trip rite? gurney's my first choice. in fact, its my only choice XD

Need to get my visa done so I'm looking for hotels near US Embassy. Any KL native can help me out and suggest some.

Prefebly not too expensive.

Thanks in advance.

Your budget, hotels around KLCC/Ampang are expensive even for single bed room. Around RM 280++ I think.

RM150 per night is rather difficult as this area is quite expensive.

Closest are the Corus, Nikko. They're just adjacent to Jln Ampang which is the main road US Embassy is on. U could walk there in 10 minutes from these hotels. Corus Hotel is cheaper than Nikko Hotel. Micasa is about the same price as Corus and is on the other side from Nikko and Corus also adjacent to the main road Jalan Ampang. You'd be on the same side if staying at Micasa without needing to traverse the main thoroughfare (huge 6 lane intersection)

U couldn't walk it from BB. Possible by taxi but the traffic is bad in that area.

The other hotels nearby are the very large veryexpensive Mandarin Oriental at KLCC,which is nearish also. Less walkable than Corus/Nikko

Juichan, you have started nice and beneficial forum. Keep it up. However I would like to make a suggestion. One thing that many traveller make a choice of hotel is whether there is wifi access. So why not all hotels pblished by members can provide info whether there is such features.

To start with I post these hotels here where there is wifi access

1. Tanah Mas Hotel, Sibu (Free access at the lobby)
2. Park City Hotel, Ipoh, Perak (free wifi access at the lobby. But if you can get a room near to the lobby you might be able to access from the room)
3. Tanjung Bidara Beach Resot (hotspots available but not listed in TMnets hotspot availability in Malacca)

For my case , i book thru time sharing of a lelonger... only pay RM80.00/per nite..

Breakfast can have a Tanah Rata... many shops . Price is very reasonable.. Lunch also can have around there..

Spent half morning at Sg Palas Estate.. Enjoyed the view and the drive too.

Frday nite pasar malam...

Saturday .. drive home.

Guys, I was looking forward for my family trip to Genting on October. Just checked a few hotel booking websites and they noted that Ria Apartment is no longer open to public booking after June 15 2006. I called Genting Hotel Reservations and they also mentioned that the Apartment have been sold to other parties. I just want to confirm if I can book direct with the Ria Apartment management or issit the place have been closed? Any can shed some light here? Thanks in advance.

Oops.. sorry didnt noticed about the Hotel search forum here. Ria Apartment is our choice not coz is cheap or wutsoever, can do more family activities like steambot and makan-makan. Honestly my mum and 2nd sis did complain about ghost encounter but we are cool about it. If u dont disturb them they will not disturb you. Tell me which place dont have ghost. Even my current rented house also have ghost, which is witness by my nephew, a few times. So should I move out? Freak about it? Im not trying to be cocky here, but just live with it, respect it. Anyway, since nobody know wut happened to Apartment Ria, I think better I settle down with another night with Theme Park Hotel. Thanks for the 'ghostly' input guys. tongue.gif

You're in luck my friend. I'm a frequent "guest" at Vistana. Was there just last Saturday for my visa run.

For twin sharing (2 separate beds), it's RM185 nett per night.

No complimentry breakfast/dinner. Buffet breakfast is available at RM15.00 nett.

But why? You're in Penang, who would ever want to eat hotel food? There's the "Penang Original Nasi Kandar" restaurant just walking distance from the hotel, as well as a Chinese Food Court down the road, in front of some apartment lots.

I forgot to add. Vistana Hotel even has Wireless HotSpotz at the lobby. All you need is a TM Hot Spotz card and you can surf all you want.

And the Bukit Jambul shopping mall is also walking distance from the hotel. If you are lucky, you can have a nice view of some golf course from your room.

some of my research, the weird thing about Penang is Walk-In much more cheaper than Internet rates. Maybe the Internet Rates target users is for foreigners. This information below is based on Internet Rates.

----------------------------------
Batu Ferringhi
----------------------------------

Lone Pine Hotel
Tel : +604881 1511

Standard Room = RM 180++
Superior Room = RM 240+
Deluxe Room = RM 290++

Fax : (604) 881 1880

----------------------------------
Casuarina Beach Resort
Tel: (604) 8811711

An update to the Ria Apartment bookings.. My friend was in getting on the 30th, checked for me Ria Apartments. Seems like somebody else is taking over the apartments. My frined was approached bya stranger claiming that he can help to book the rooms. I dont know if the stranger is reliable, maybe some cheapskate who is trying to make a small living.. Neway, we will settle down for another night at the Theme Park Hotel. No more steambot.. cry.gif

Hello fellow forummers. I'm planning to go to Langkawi in November. I'm looking at Nov 17th - 20th (4days 3 nights). I was wondering if anyone here knows any good deals which suits my plan ? Cheaper airfare tickets + accomodations. I'm not keen with those local tour sites such as Mahsuri tombs or city tour. I just want to go to there and relax at the beach. Thanks. Preferably staying in Pantai Cenang.

There are many hotels that available in Malacca.

Please tell me which part of Malacca that you wants to stay at. Near historical site, towns or whatsoever. It can ease up our job to help to identify a few hotels.

And not to forget your budget. I can recommend a few if you can provide me this few data.

those hotels around bukit bintang areas are quite cheap. last time i stay in radius international hotel premium room. the price is rm 250. so i think if standard room maybe around rm 200. the hotel is quite nice.

some of my research, the weird thing about Penang is Walk-In much more cheaper than Internet rates. Maybe the Internet Rates target users is for foreigners. This information below is based on Internet Rates.

Yeap, just call them for booking. Internet booking meant for foreigners..much more expensive.

hi,

it is against the policy to add additional people into a room (for safety reasons, in case there is an emergency they need to do headcount base on their registration log), but u can always request for extra bed by paying a bit more. Different hotels have different "superior rooms" so i suggest u call up the hotel and ask.

btw i am merging ur thread with the existing hotel search thread. you can also refer to the first post (1st page) of hotel search for a list of sites that you can search for hotels in malaysia. smile.gif

Hi, am looking for hotel room end of November around KL and Selangor, preferably near KTM or LRT so that easier for me to travel around. Looking for under RM100.. (It's okay if it's "acceptable" and "reasonable" condition provided the place still looks okay and that I wont get robbed inside the hotel. smile.gif ).

Thanks in advance for any recommendation.

Am browsing the websites provided in the early pages.. But wish to hear from you guys opinion before making final decision. Thanks.

you mean someone ask you to find 50 rooms in pj? is this a request from your company? usually hotels have corporate rates. Or else base on your amount of 50 rooms, the hotels will give u a good price. Or you can go through travel agents. You can't start a travel agency just because you have 50 rooms to order.. starting a travel agency is much more complex than getting good hotel room rates smile.gif

try Kencana Inn (i donno if it's still there or not). biggrin.gif

on the other hand, you could always stay at any of the beach resorts, they're just about 8km away from Kota Bharu anyway.

man, those were the days - always play with flood waters and cycling all over Kota Bharu. damn i miss school days. biggrin.gif

I noticed some here got questions on some resort/hotel which I have stayed there before. If you need my own opinion, pls do not hesitate to PM me.

I'm looking for an affordable(or I should say cheap) motel to live at in KL that can reach bus/lrt/ktm easily.

Read the first page and saw "Tai Ichi Hotel".
Anything beside that?

At least a room that fit 2 person will do. tongue.gif

That hotel just behind/beside Lot Ten quite cheap. Rm138. Or the KL Plaza Long STay apartments also can. Daily rate is about RM178 I think. Federal Hotel also quite cheap RM130.

I like Westin at Rm258.

I recommended Hotel Nova in this forum before.
And for the second time, I still would suggest Hotel Nova!!!

Guess, no need for me to explain how good is that right?

Deluxe room with 3some-bed also can, just at RM 140 per night.

Agora Hotel : will not recommend this. the staffs always making such suspicious face and not friendly at all. bathroom has a very very small shower area, will not fit big people. During my last visit, our group left Agora for Sg.Wang Hotel because of its suckiness. whistling.gif

hello dear forummers smile.gif

i'm looking for hotels in kuala lumpur. not too sure about the duration yet. hopefully can get some recommendation from you guys.

- rate of less than rm200 a night
- we will be cramming 5 people in the room
- close to some lrt station
- safe environment (i don't want people knockin on my door at night ask me if i need "company" sweat.gif)
- location doesn't really matter la

i know there are some info at the first few posts but they're about a year old so i was hoping to get some updated info from you guys. thank you very much notworthy.gif

edit: just noticed someone posted almost the same thing like i did before me... my bad tongue.gif

anyway, new questions, where can i play go-kart and paintball in KL? thanks biggrin.gif

the reason why i merge a lot of hotel threads here is that I am trying to keep things neat. There are thousands of hotels in Malaysia and if everyone opens one thread about their hotel then it will be shakehead.gif T&L will grow too big. but if you insist on doing so please state in the first thread that you intend to keep the thread in the list and not get it merged.

Anyone have suggestions for some nice beach hotels in Kuantan? I've tried the Hyatt Regency there and although the beach/pool is nice, the hotel seems old and could be improved and the monkeys are a bit scary biggrin.gif

I'd prefer not to drive up to Cherating or further, Kuantan is more of a weekend vacation for me so the shorter the distance the better. Any recommendations appreciated.

There are no hotels anywhere near Teluk Kumbar. It is a remote village on the southeast part of the Island. The closest hotel you could probably stay with your budget is Vistana in Bayan Baru.

It's not close though, bout 20 minute drive from the hotel to Teluk Kumbar.

I've been to Hyatt but the hotel is old and the rooms definitely look/feel old. They're supposed to be upgrading though.

I'll definitely try Swiss Garden the next time around. Thanks all for the suggestions.

hmm.gif if five people going there might as well take a condo. Go for Api Api Apartments, they have 2 rooms, 1 living room and a kitchen. Its walking distance from shopping area. Its in the city centre but for you to get to the airport you need to catch a cab which will cost about RM 17 (not sure) and its about 10 minutes drive away (minus the jam)

I didn't enjoy my stay at Swiss Garden last time. The room was below expectation for the price I paid. Honestly, I recommend Impiana Resort, Hyatt Regency and Suria Resort. See my travelogues below:

Swiss Garden: http://www.malaysiahotelreview.com/pahang/...n-kuantan.shtml
Hyatt Regency: http://www.malaysiahotelreview.com/pahang/...y-kuantan.shtml

Merit Sri Sayang and Mar Vista... unfortunately the units are so run down you may not want to step into them. Better to get hotel rooms in town.... travelling to the beaches in Pg is not that far....

I stayed in Sutera Harbour for my short trip in KK. They have 2 hotels in the Sutera Harbour Resort, Magellan and Pacific. Good value for money, near to airport, but only downside is that you can hear the jets taking off once in awhile. Plus they have this marina for yatchs where you can arrange snorkelling and picnic trips to nearby manukan and sapi island. Not that I play golf, but they also have this really beautiful golf course there!!

Shangri-La Tanjung Aru is another hotel near the airport, it really nice too, highly recommended, bu only if its within your budget.

IMHO, Sutera Harbour has more Asian tourists like those from Korea, Japan and HK, and Tanjung Aru caters more towards gwailos...but both are quite good!

RM 120? they still charge me RM 147 even after i stay there for 3 consecutive visit. What room you getting? Deluxe room?

One thing i like about Kinabalu daya hotel is that the location is strategically locate in the heart of KK town. Most shopping complex, restoran and handicraft centre is within walking distance.

Anyway. i heard that Ang Hotel is offering their Air-Con room at RM 60 only. The only downside is that they dont have elevator for those that stay in higher level...

The only state in Msia that I've not yet set my foot on. Thinking of going to KK in July or Sept.

Wants somewhere affordable -- not that cheap -- and comfy, and of course, within walkin distance to all the cool must-see places within this city.

Hopes those who know/experienced the place b4 can share their inputs here.

p/s Daya seems 2b quite an ok hotel, based on the rate. Wonder if there are others with cheaper rates yet as comfy. Hope not asking too much:p

what is ur budget? i've stayed in marina court, radius and trekkers lodge before.. all three are of different concepts. radius is not bad. boutique hotels. no frills. trekkers lodge is for back packers. marina court is condo style. good for a group of friends.

Try Guoman. It it by far one of the good ones left in PD these days. http://portdickson.guomanhotels.com/

Another is Avillion. My last trip there 2 weeks ago, I stayed at Casa Racardo. Not really recommended. This is below RM200 a night, RM150 paid if not mistaken.

Cheers.

you can try one of these, tiara beach resort(far from PD town), glory beach resort(apartment type), corus paradise(hotel room and apartment style), avilion(EXPENSIVE), legend water chalet(EXPENSIVE). But personally for under 200 budget i'll go to either tiara or corus.

Check already, Guoman n Avillion are abit out of my budget but from reviews, its a nice place.

Seems like Tiara Beach Resort is still the best option currently. Corus ... so many bad reviews especially on the fake lagoon ahaha.

Tiara beach Resort is not really a beach resort-lah! & it is far away from beach (Impossible to goto to beach!. It is inland on the left side of the road leading to Melaka..about 5KM after Blue Lagoon junction. But if u prefer the man-make beach in Tiara..should not be a problem...The look of Tiara resort is something like the medium cost Apartment & gigantic swimming pool in middle...( dun take my word..I hv not stay there myself..just pass-by & saw the photos from the Advert

Corus, stayed there about 4 yrs ago. Previously was Ming Court PD. Yes the fake lagoon is a no-no & dirty 9 But what u expect from the overall all dirty water of PD?). but it still nice if u want to take picture. The Hotel room (not Apt block) is OK as other 3 star hotel standard...and very busy swiming pool ...rather small but my daughter enjoy it....

wah ... i think quite true also coz i saw most of the hotel reviews there are horrible and scary. The authorities shuld start taking steps to clean and beautify it or else, PD is goin to b a former tourist attraction.

You can try to stay at the one next to Tanjung Tuan hotel with Minangkabau style, but i can't remember the hotel name, and it is opposite the askar kem. The beach there quite nice, of cox dun compare with redang or perhentian lah... really i quite enjoy staying there lasttime.

PD no waves no fun. But then again, I'm thankful for that... wouldn't want dirty water splashing all over the place.
About hotels... I've been to avillion & the legend water chalets.
So, between the two... if ur looking for fun... try avillion (more lively)
if ur looking for someting not so crowded... try the legend water chalets
Other differences between the two = avillion more stuff to do and better food but nid $$, Legend got better rooms (got skyroof at showering area and see-thru glass panels on the floor... but the bathroom is placed at the entrance of the room... weird but unique)
Other hotels... didnt try... so dono

I am organizing a trip to Cherating for group of 40 persons. So hard to get the Accomodation. We prefer a big banglo or 3-rooms apartments. This trip is for gathering purpose.

Can anyone help me to find out the Banglo or the apartments quotation?

wow, this thread is still alive! rclxms.gif

Its nearly 1/2 since my visit to PD and i tell u ... DONT GO TO THT HOTEL/APARTMENT OPPOSITE TIARA BEACH RESORT!!

oh my, its so bad i cant remember the name! vmad.gif

Dont be fooled by its big grand arch at the entrance! The place is ... even altho fortunately i din see any ghost there ... i still classified it as haunted ... or soon to be haunted sweat.gif The place is totally abandoned! The staff gave me a room which is far away from their admin office and to get there, u hav to pass several rundown blocks.

The worse part is at nite, i was the only person to occupy the whole bloody dark and scary block! shocking.gif

Oh i think i remember its name now. Its Tiara Duta or Duta Hasienda or something like tht! Dun go there! infact, dun go PD at all if u can! Go Langkawi instead laugh.gif

Haha! i went PD last year and stayed at Aviilion..thought the price is quite expensive..i think it's quite worth it...
The water chalet has the open bathroom concept but u dun get to bathe when it's raining..lol!

PD's town is quite dead...so i guess staying there for 3D2N is the max
The hotel has a lot of stuff to do..u dun have to go out also..(:

Hi...I'm looking for a hotel to stay in, budget < RM 130 per nite, with car park. Location, preferably in PJ area and suitable for family stay. If PJ don't have, KL area also should be OK.

Any recommendations?

Hey ya,

I planned to stay in KL for 1 night on 19th May 2008. Around Pudu or Bukit Bintang. Any suggestion for nice and comfortable hotel room for price less than RM120?

I would also like to ask, normally I need to check in and out at 12pm right. Can I extend it? If yes, how they normally charge?

My bus to Terengganu is at 10.30pm.. if I check out at 12pm, I still got plenty of time sweat.gif

Thanks in advance.

Taichi Hotel is in Bkt Bintang right? If my guessing was right, its next to subway in BB? Better Star town than Taichi I guess. But Taichi have good location though.

Guys, i'll be heading to Kuantan with gf for a 3D2N break during the Wesak Day weekend from May 17-19... We'll be staying at the Swiss Garden Resort in Balok Bech actually...

Just to ask, has any1 stayed in this Resort before? How is it in terms of facilities, location, services, F&B outlets etc.?

I think second choices goes to Agora . Or you can choose Hotel Malaysia . Its opposite Agora. Look dull and ugly from outside but the room is clean.

Agora

1 more hotel you should consider

Cardogan Hotel

My advise : If you go on weekend, you should book early.

Few Year ago i been stay there for 3D2N trip at KL, after few month from that trip, i received a call from Bank saying that my Credit was was use someone in oversea. During i stay at Bintang Warisan i pay through credit card and this also happened to my friend. His plan travel trip in KL & Genting, first his stay at KL Bintang Warisan and pay by credit card. So, when 2nd day went to Genting, credit was block by bank saying that his card data was stolen by someone. So, after this lesson when i travel in KL i only use cash instead of Credit card and this issue been highlighted by international body.

Radius International is at Jln Alor. Too bad eh Levis69 you have bad experience at Bintang Warisan. Are you sure the problem came from Bintang Warisan? I dont have any problem at this hotel and I'm using credit card also.

Normally Malaysia hotel is for 2 person per room, incase they do provide breakfast, it will be also for 2 person. If you staying alone still the same price.

Single / Double-rate means dont care you are 1-2 person, if you going alone, try to request those queen or king bed, if not sometimes you will get 2 single bed ( 1 for you to put your luggage )

Hope that it helps. I always deal with hotel, because i am travel agent too. anyway , agents do get a cheaper price than you do yourself.
