Anyone have suggestions for some nice beach hotels in Kuantan? I've tried the Hyatt Regency there and although the beach/pool is nice, the hotel seems old and could be improved and the monkeys are a bit scary I'd prefer not to drive up to Cherating or further, Kuantan is more of a weekend vacation for me so the shorter the distance the better. Any recommendations appreciated.

I've been to Hyatt but the hotel is old and the rooms definitely look/feel old. They're supposed to be upgrading though.
I'll definitely try Swiss Garden the next time around. Thanks all for the suggestions.

QUOTE(leechers @ Dec 9 2012, 11:23 PM) i would like a recommendation on where to stay in KL. i prefer hotel that is nearby lowyat plaza, and also walking distance from LRT station. and also a medium-luxurious hotel, not a budget or cheap hotel. Google maps will give you an idea of hotels in that location. Wotif agoda etc. can you give you an idea of pricing.

QUOTE(leechers @ Dec 10 2012, 10:56 AM) i tried google maps. but i would like some personal recommendations as well. In all honesty the tripadvisor forums has far more personal reviews of hotels than LYN so for almost anything travel related I go there now.

I've stayed at the Grand Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental and a few others around the park. The Hyatt has the best room view, Mandarin is a bit too close to see the full towers. However Mandarin's service is at another level altogether
If you're focusing on the view, rather than booking a room, get an executive room where you have access to the lounge which almost always has a much better panoramic view. Hyatt has floor to ceiling windows which offer some amazing views, heck even DoubleTree KL has some fantastic views of KL
