hi folks,

got a problem with my car. Kelisa 1.0A year 2001.

last weekend, while driving home from Sepang to Klang my speedometer failed (heading Putrajaya) and as soon as the speedometer reaches 0 km/h, the 'check engine' light goes on. I was driving within speedlimit (90 kmh) at the time of incident. Everything else seems fine (temp within reasonable reading) and I kept driving till Klang.

The next morning, woke up and checked my car and there's gearbox oil underneath. Apparently it leaks gearbox oil. It's purple-ish color since its an automatic car. The leak isn't that major though. Just a few drops that accumulated the whole nite.

Now, I'm back in Sepang and haven't drive my car since Sunday evening. The car is resting at home and looks like the leak is getting worse. No more few drops of gearbox oil, but rather a lot more than 10ml.

Question is, what is going on with my car? what is the problem with the gearbox? Does it have anything to do with the speedometer failure? How much do I have to spend to get it fixed?

Thanks guys.

could be speed sensor...not sure about kelisa...but for B16A the speed sensor is located at the gearbox...

leaking.... had the same issue with mine last week....got it fixed... it was flywheel oil seal in my case...had to bring down the entire engine just to change that doh.gif
*
got that fixed like 2 months ago. Can't be the same problem is happening again? huh.gif
This time, just the gearbox oil leaks. No engine oil leaks. The source of the leak somewhere at the flywheel area I think. Not too sure cause can't really peek underneath the car properly, just a glimpse of red oil wetting the "between engine & gearbox" area.

when the ecu fails to read speedo , YES it will lighted the CEL. to check the function just pull the speedo cable from meter. and make a short run, the CEL will lighted up
*
how do I check if the speed sensor is faulty? How does it look like and where it is located? A picture will help.

car still sitting at home.. no time to send it to shop. besides, tomorrow is holiday. haihs.. sad.gif

brake pad is due. Got any reco for any good pads? browse through mudah.com found Bosch pads NAO goes for RM33. Too good to be true.

has any of you guys have ever used coil spring damper? the one goes for rm8 per piece in mudah.com I'm thinking of having it for the rears. When there are 4 adults, the rear seems to be squat down low. Goes over hump is not a good experience. Should I go for it?

a coil spring damper is made of either rubber or silicon which is applied to the OE spring coil. Dunno how to explain. google it up. tongue.gif

faxk!

car is leaking. again! shakehead.gif

jacked the car (with help from my cousin) with a 2 tonne jack. It seems there are traces of oil around the sump's seals.. rclxub.gif

I just changed the oil last 2 week! If I were to swap the sump, I have to drain all out dont I? :grunt:

not to mention the car is using fuel beyond normal rate.. shakehead.gif

i heard that this is a common issue on kelisa..but this car serves me very well..everyday i face jam..i travel about 90km a day..and only require about rm10 of ron95..
*
dude, you changed the whole lot? wow.. just wow..

I had the same problem as yours BUT, got the seals replaced. No sweat. Cost me RM18 for that 3 spark plug seals and another RM50 for labor charge (did oil change too).

I too was quoted for RM300 to get that brand new valve top cover but that mech (that quoted me) told me to go another shop to get it replaced. And so I did. I'm glad he referred me to another shop. smile.gif

How to change spark plug seal on kelisa head cover there are 3 way actually

3rd..(hardest way but lesser cost as can DIY)
-make way around the old seal..this one hard to explain
-knock the metal sheet like enlarging all around.. but not cut .. just knock
-'peel' out the old seal
-insert new seal
-Knock back the seal all around new seal
**make sure dont make a hard knock.. otherwise new seal wud fail to work**
*
I think that's what my cam cover went through. LOL So, far, no leaks.

Oh hey, my oil leak hasnt been rectified yet. The source is the oil filter. But, is there possiblity of missing o-ring or oil seal at the oil filter placement (dunno what to call it)? I've gone thru 2 engine oil change and the oil still leaks.

Hi, i'm thinking to stylish my car.. right now my kelisa is all standard.. so when i look my kelisa, there is a bit huge space between wheel arch and the trye.. i'm using stock 13' kelisa rim and factory recommend 165/60 tyre.

So i conclude this option:

1. change to lowered spring
2. change tyre type to a thick one to closing the gap
3. change rim to 14" (last option for me)

What u all remmoend? or maybe u have other option?
*
get Pro ride sport springs. roughly around less than rm300.

using 14" tyres with 5jj wide, get 175/60 series. I think Yokohama, Kumho and Goodyear has this series. Prices varies to sellers. Search around in Garage Sales.

This setting, konpom no fender rubbing. icon_rolleyes.gif

i have ady check n changed my exhaust pipe....the knocking sound is coming from my exhaust...the recent accident caused my exhaust pushed in n bcome shorter....i change the whole pipe n the rubber together costs me RM300....  brows.gif

sounds about the normal price. hmm.gif

you changed from the muffler to the muffler tip I guess?

maaann.. timing belt is no kid issue. Its a man issue. When its time to change, get it changed. Depends on the brand of the belt itself. From Perodua OEM, the belt should last max 80K kms while Mitsuboshi's lasts around 60K kms.

Ive seen what broken belt will do to your engine. You DONT want to be in that situation. Its gonna cost u ALOT. nod.gif

Now..now.. my aircond compressor pulley is screaming. Can I just replace the pulley only or should I change the whole compressor??? Any suggestion?

The aircond belt were replaced and only traveled for less than 1000km. Just replaced it two weeks ago.

my kelisa closing in 212k km already.

works/repairs done so far:
replaced driveshaft
replaced flywheel oil seal
replaced speed cable sensor
replaced oil filter adapter oil seal (major culprit of oil leaks)
replaced spark plugs oil seal
replaced timing belts and belting kits twice

I guess thats all the major works done so far besides regular oil changes.

yep, the car is the very first model back in 2001. It was my mom's tho. She wanted it in silver/grey color but, the color wont arrive till next month. But my mom wanted it so badly, so she went with maroon instead. Silver/grey were selling like hot cake back then.
