QUOTE(bitchslapjackass @ Oct 6 2006, 04:15 PM) Hi everybody, I need help with my streamyx connection. Here's the situation: Does your username have a '@streamyx' after your ID ? Do port forwarding and change the maximum ports to 4096 while the TCP and UDP timeouts to 120.I upgraded to the WRT54GS v.4 yesterday. Today I installed DD-WRT firmware v23 sp2 mini. I plug in the modem, etc. After I selected PPPOE and entered my streamyx login and password, I still cannot get online. Rebooting the router and turn off/on the modem didn't help. What seems to be the problem? Also what's the best settings for BitComet and emule? Thanks for the help! |

QUOTE(ionStorm @ Oct 6 2006, 09:06 PM) My router usually hits about 220 - 230 connections. I had to use 4096 max connections because I share the connection out too. And 120 on my timeouts works much better for me. It depends though that is why one should always "play" with the settings to get the best performance out of it.I doubt you really need to change the max ports to 4096, unless you use the new DHT system. As far as I can tell, DHT didn't bring any benefits, probably because there aren't too many people using it? 120 on the timeout seems quite aggressive. Oh well... To those who screwed up their router: Got it fixed yet? |

If there were multiple users using the connection, it could result in higher connections established too.i realize my house alone use 800+ ip connection a time.. hmm havent happen b4 with previous ver.. |

QUOTE(carnbyresurrected @ Oct 8 2006, 09:19 AM) Oh yeh..onemore thing...do i have to restore to factory default before i upgrade to v23sp2? I had no problems without resetting it to factory default but it is still best to follow the DD-WRT team's recommendation to reset it.or just upgrade? |

QUOTE(Hypoglossal @ Oct 9 2006, 02:38 PM) OK guys I made a huge mistake... So if you ping your router it still gives you a respond right ? When you say hit the reset button, did you actually just press it once or your press and hold it until it resets ? By right you are suppose to press and hold it until it resets.I'm using a linksys WRT54G V2.2. I initially flashed it to the latest firmware v 4.x from linksys website... I made a mistake, and instead of flashing the mini one, i flashed it with generic... It gave me an error, and now I no longer can access my index page... 192.168.1.1 I try going to another part of the site, like /status it asks for username and password I try my old settings, no luck, i try root/admin password admin/root, to no avail. Internet connection is still routed fine, thank god. I hit the reset button in hopes it would reset the settings, but nothing of that seems to happen. Any idea guys? |

QUOTE(thankyou @ Oct 9 2006, 05:52 PM) Wow... i'm actually quite outdated as well... just flashed my firmware from SP1 RC4 --> SP2 Yes indeed it is more stable than the SP1 IMO. I felt that the QoS works more efficiently now. Hopefully it is more stable than SP1.... |

QUOTE(coolblade @ Oct 11 2006, 12:58 AM) @JKEC If you plan to get a WRT54GS, I'd suggest to get WRT54GL instead as the GS does have a v5 version now which if you get it, you will have to flash it to the micro version of DD-WRT.can u tell the features u got by flashing the v5 router with dd-wrt firmware u used right now? i am using the v5 router but with linksys's newest firmware. I am thinking twice whether to flash to dd-wrt firmware or stick with the linksys firmware. Personally I think I'd better buy a WRT54GS router and flashed it with dd-wrt firmware. That a better option than getting limited option using micro version of dd-wrt on WRT54G v5 router. |

QUOTE(wilson88 @ Oct 11 2006, 02:12 PM) I m having problem to add the 4th QoS port I once had this problem but all I did was to reset to factory default settings and the adding QoS works fine after that. You should try that though. Each time I press add , it somehow don't appear on the screen. Any idea why ? I think this is a bug QUOTE(coolblade @ Oct 12 2006, 12:25 AM) Thank you for both hardyboyz888 and JKEC. I am planning to get WRT54GL next month. Good to hear that. Hope you will be satisfied with your WRT54GL flashed with DD-WRT ! |

QUOTE(rattan @ Oct 12 2006, 01:56 AM) Hi just an inquiry, I would say yes as it has much more RAM memory compared to the v5 but the v4 is no longer available in the market because it has been replaced by the newer versions with less RAM memory. You can still get WRT54GL which has the same specification as the WRT54G v4 though.Linksys WRT54G Version 4 is better then Version 5 isit ? |

QUOTE(DeLarafi @ Oct 12 2006, 11:05 PM) Its consider the best if you can get the WRT54GL. Good to hear that. The SP2 is much better compared to the SP1 as I found that the QoS in the SP1 wasn't working efficiently as the SP2 now. anyway..after changing the IPfilter port to 4096. OMG OMG OMG... 12 client 4 wireless.. most of us are Torrent freak.. OMG OMG.. with 2000+ active port.. its seem the router can handle it smothly.. no lagg or slow surfing whutsoever.. seriously.. DD the best. |

QUOTE(rattan @ Oct 13 2006, 12:06 PM) Ok final question, whats the difference between WRT54GL, WRT54G, (are they 2 total diff models or just firmware ?) etc etc... sorry im about to get my hands on this router so just finding out more ! The WRT54GL is exactly the same as a WRT54G v4. For now, you can't get the WRT54G v4 where now it has been replaced by the v5/6 which has less RAM and not allowing you to flash to third party firmware such as DD-WRT. Linksys then decided to come out with WRT54GL where the specs is exactly the same as WRT54G v4 because of a great demand of it and many wanting to flash it to a 3rd party firmware. The wireless signal is moderate and good enough for home use though.Sifu's, is the wireless signal from this linksys router strong and stable ? |

QUOTE(rattan @ Oct 15 2006, 07:14 PM) WRT54GL is Version 4 rite ? Yes you are right. The WRT54GL is a WRT54G v4 actually but they renamed it as WRT54GL where the letter 'L' stands for Linux. |

It was meant for users to mod it with 3rd party firmware actually. Well, from my experience, I did send my WRT54G for RMA before and it was flashed with DD-WRT but they still accepted it.

QUOTE(rattan @ Oct 18 2006, 12:02 AM) Cool, I just hooked up my spanking new WRT54GL, wanna use the original firmware for a while then ill flash it, so ill feel the difference. There is no such thing as increased speed actually. When you do port forwarding, it makes it easier/faster to transfer as the router knows where should the data be sent too. You asked for help on port forwarding, is it for Linksys' firmware or DD-WRT's ?Anyone can teach me to port forward for torrent downloads ? Heard it can increase speed ? QUOTE(rattan @ Oct 20 2006, 11:49 PM) ok fine. Had the same issue again. Had enough. I think ill flash my Firmware to DD-WRT. Ill check out my the dd-wrt site and then if any confusion ill get back to you guys. So if you do use P2P applications, don't forget to raise the max number of connections and also play around with the QoS settings until you are satisfied with the connection. Good luck. Anyone here know if DD-WRT is supports my WRT54GL ? I checked their list its not in there. If its supported what version do i use ? PLs helpppppp EDit : Manage to figure it out. My router is supported Bruahhh... hope to be another happy dd-wrt user.. (Hope so) testing in progress now. |
