Suspecting that my WRT54GS is having some hardware failure issue now, the wireless connection goes on and off quite frequently. Going to do some troubleshooting tomorrow morning.

QUOTE(mikelanding @ Mar 21 2008, 08:22 AM) Used to experience that b4, but that was after flashing to tomato. Maybe U can try clear the NVram first. IF cannot, can try flash again and then clear NVram. Just my suggestion. After doing a lot of troubleshooting, it is now confirmed that there is a problem with the router's wireless components. It is still working fine just that the wireless connectivity is gone. I now have to hook it up with a D-Link router to have wireless access. Now I upgrade myself, playing with OpenWRT+X-WRT(White Russian) firmware. Very powerful firmware and UI is fast too compare to DD-WRT. The QoS is every effective and work well compare to DD-WRT and tomato. Use to get around 650ms during WoW game with some p2p download at background. Now with new firmware, can get around 400ms!! Highly recommend for those who want to try new thing.. |

QUOTE(MX510 @ Mar 21 2008, 06:21 PM) Wow that's bad get a kerbau to replace that router . You boost to much mW to your antenna? Sorry for what happened to you . D-Link should be okay for temporary use Thought of getting Buffalo to replace but not at the moment as budget is a bit tight at the moment. I used 40mW for the output power. |

Actually since WRT54GL is actually a WRT54G v4, the WRT54G routers all have problems with their wireless. I had a WRT54G v3.1 last time and wireless connectivity was very very bad.

QUOTE(bluefries @ Mar 24 2008, 11:26 AM) I just bought this model last night and flashed it to Tomato. I am currently stress testing it with torrent and it just passed the 12 hours uptime. What do you mean whether any of us needs any unit ? You are helping to buy ? |

QUOTE(bluefries @ Mar 24 2008, 04:01 PM) RM170 is a good buy for that router. Get it before it is sold out ! I've been told that there aren't any stocks left from the supplier so once the stocks at shops are out then the wait time for the new stocks might be long. |

QUOTE(barry80 @ Mar 25 2008, 11:52 PM) anyone know where to get the linksys wrt-54g ver.8? i'm trying to get this ver.8 but seem malaysia haven't launch yet? all the shop i looked into just got ver.7 Just grab the Buffalo, IMO it performs much better than the Linksys but stock availability might run out anytime and the price will always be jacked up by the shops. do i need to wait for the newest ver.8? or just grap the buffalo whr-g54s? |

QUOTE(bluefries @ Mar 31 2008, 04:03 AM) guys after flash it to DD-WRT - the warranty will void ? (WRT-54GL), Yes by right the warranty will void but then if any case you need to RMA and you are able to flash back to the original Linksys firmware, then flash it back before send back for RMA. I did RMA my WRT54G before and I just send it back with the DD-WRT firmware flashed and they still did it for me.possible restore back the original firmware? anyone try their luck to claim it ? |

QUOTE(andyjyneo @ Apr 10 2008, 04:11 PM) anyone here can help me with tomato firmware on linksys WRT54GL? Perhaps you could show a screenshot of your QoS configuration ?settings are all default, but with some changes in PPPoE, port forwarding & wireless only when i on bitcomet, bandwidth are sucked, but bitcomet isn't moving very fast the rest of the PCs couldn't even connect to internet i've just flashed from 1.16 to 1.17... and yet to test which firmware is better? DD-WRT or tomato? |

QUOTE(andyjyneo @ Apr 10 2008, 06:06 PM) At the classification section, you should add one more rule for torrent :TCP/UDP IPP2P: Bittorent What I do is I set it to have the lowest priority among all my other QoS rules so that it doesn't hog the bandwidth all the time. |

QUOTE(youliang @ Apr 14 2008, 11:01 AM) just wanna ask, The processor will run faster but in a way it generates heat. It is not practical to overclock if you feel that your router is able to handle your daily usage. Overclocked processor in routers would usually benefit when you have lots of clients doing intensive stuffs like downloading from BitTorrent and such.whats the point of the overclocking function in ddwrt?(i know its to make it run faster, but what actually runs faster?) |
