No experience with the Z1000, but the Z7 is generally considered underwhelming by many in stock form, including me. I've heard the Z1R only briefly so far (will be going back to audition it at length soon) and it seemed very capable to me, just haven't been able to contrast it properly with my other TOTLs yet (to-do list).

What makes you prefer the Z7, and in what way? From the tech and specs, the Z1R appears to have improved on this on almost all aspects.

Hmm, I have fairly high expectations of these, from what I've been reading (and feedback from people I know who've spent extended time with them). Not ready to dismiss them yet, and eager to try for myself in a controlled setting (event/shop floors are far from ideal)

As far as I know about Sony LDAC, 0 transmission lost on CD-quality/WAV only, DSD or other hi-fi format still need compression...

owning 1ABT, not yet try the 1000X...

I got the 1000X the moment I know it is available in Malaysia. Not so much of BT, but the NC with good SQ. I really don't like Bose SQ...

Sony Walkman NW-A35/A36HN is a decent basic Walkman
with great sound quality. The output power of NW-A35/A36HN is 35mw + 35 mw which can power headphone/earpiece decently. (Expect MDR-Z1R)

Compare with previous A2X series rated at 10mw + 10 mw, the output power have increased a far bit.
Sound quality wise is decent and very good.

Build quality is not bad and the size is like Tic tack box
hence it is very portable and easy to control.
SD card is on the left side of the player which you can pop open to insert.

UI is exactly the same with the NW-WM1A/Z however the demo set UI was rather laggy. Switching from mode to mode it tends to slow down, hopefully actual retail unit does not have such issue.

Overall Sony Walkman NW-A35/A36HN is a nice and decent player. Not to forget unlike previous A1X/A2X, finally there's touchscreen!

Pricing wise is almost the same as current Walkman A2X line.
However like the A2X series, NW-A35 does not have the earpiece/A36HN comes with the MDR-N750N earpiece.

I need to get my hands on a MDR Z1R to try asap, been delayed for too long. It's been getting solid feedback on headfi, from guys who own other TOTL headphones as well.

Forget comparing it to the Z7, I'm looking at it as a potential true flagship from Sony tongue.gif

Just received Sony latest entry-level DAP yesterday!
A35 comes with 5 colors and A36 only black.

Summary
- 3.1" Touch screen.
- Super long battery life. 45 hours for MP3, 30 hours for 24/192k FLAC, 22 hours for DSD.
- Support Bluetooth connection via LDAC, 3x the bitrate of standard Bluetooth. Easy Bluetooth connectivity with NFC One-touch.
- Still very slim and tiny, 5.59 x 9.75 x 1.09cm, 98g.
- Build in headphone amp is much stronger than previous version.

Definitely much stronger than previous version, but due to the slimmer size and super long battery life, can't expect the driving ability is as strong as the bigger size DAP like Cayin smile.gif

WM1 driving power definitely stronger, especially the 4.4mm balance out. Try it with Z1r, not bad.
