Not all students would prefer to have interview during career fair as there are many other potential companies as well.
I have seniors who decided not to go SLB interview coz it took long time and missed out other good companies where their interview shorter in duration.

Somehow, it should be a good experience as said to be among the tedious interview tongue.gif

And kevin1mil, how you get the chance to interview b4 the career fair? just by sending form online? share with us.
*
True, it consumes quite a lot of times for the total 4 sessions of interview, and yea, it also depends on the companies that show up during the career fair. During our career fair, only 3 O&G companies showed up, which are, Petronas, Dugeo and SLB. For petronas, they're only keen to interview those who didnt pass the interview during our second year, as a second chance for them. And the good thing is that their interviewing time is adjustable, so, still ok for those who wan to try out both Petronas and SLB.. For Dugeo, we're only required to summit our resume and any interview will only be carried out after we all grad. Other companies such as Exxon, PGS, Shell came during our career talk, organised by geophysics student of AAPG in USM. smile.gif

biggrin.gif haha... i think setting the target will be a very important thing to do instead of randomly pick several companies for interview during the career fair. But i think apply for every company through internet first, few months prior to the career fair. Only if the companies you've targeted do not give any respond or reject your application before even giving you any chances for interview, go and look for them during career fair.. let them see that you're capable with their own eyes laugh.gif

yea, kinda true..when there is 10 oil n gas companies is diff........i ve been to PEtroleum GEology Conference and Exhibition held in KLcc...both 2008 and 2007.......there are alot of oil n gas companies there....but still my 1st choice is SLB...well, stimes diff ppl have diff target and aim...maybe u dun like SLB now...but SLB is indeed a good company to train u..just like a forumer here said...SLB is like an army camp..they trained u like hell...but i will say NO PAIN NO GAIN.....achieve high standard in ur young age...thn u will get a bright future........its up to ur decision biggrin.gif it depends on individual whether they can take it or not...some may take it while some may not...... nod.gif

well, it depends how u c the interview....dun treat it like a hell..treat it like a gate to heaven....thn u will feel better....actually, SLB interview is not that tension..imagine that...they pay u such a high salary....if u cannot withstand a little pressure...how are u goin to success in future....just my 2 cents.....christine is waiting the offer letter now...same as me.. icon_rolleyes.gif

i dun think all the oil n gas interview in the same manner....like petronas, u only went for 1 time interview only....but it last around an hour for sure....dugeo also 1 interview only....bout others i dun have idea...... laugh.gif

well OFS1 is basically like an orientation for SLB (1-2 weeks depending on location), you'll get to meet ppl from other locations & different departments, go for lectures about QHSE & SLB's training structure & resources, department managers or somebody quite high up will also be there to explain your career path & what you'll be doing, get your laptops, prepare your bank accounts (I'd recommend Citibank GEB, unless you can qualify for HSBC Premier/you have an HSBC account in Brunei/you're interested in offshore savings), sign the contract, do a driving test, (and for some, defensive driving school), etc.

Mine was done in KL, in Renaissance Hotel. Some ppl did theirs in Dubai/Abu Dhabi/Houston/Melun/Rio de Janeiro/etc; depends on where you are posted. It was really fun and it's a good opportunity to know ppl who'll be in your same location. Basically, giving you a good time, before they ship you out to the "wilderness"...lol
