Where did you heard that from? 70k usd per annum for a FE? What is this FE do? which country he working? If he working in Malaysia, i kind of doubt that. This is the wrong info that you are feeding ppl, and it is also the exact feedback i got from ppl when they hear i am FE, rich lar, a lot of money lar. I dont know where the hell they got that kind of info from. That kind of annum income only for long timer in the industry and only for certain industry and certain job with certain special skill set. Please dont say whoever in the field is getting that kind of amount of money, because it is really irritating to hear and you are only making yourself look stupid in front of FE. I am sorry if you feel bad, but i dont sorry for what i stated. It is better to tell you now then later you make yourself look bad in front of everyone.

Before you answer all the questions, are you anyway in the O&G industry such as working, or freelance etc?
You give your information such as the annum income purely base on internet finding? FE got in the U.S. only? Why Malaysia cannot have Field Engineer in O&G?

Another word to say the 70k usd annum income of your cousin is a US PR and is not living in Malaysia, correct?
The FE we are taking about here is field engineer and not fundamental eng. How do you know they dont call field engineer as field engineer in malaysia? What do they call field engineer as in Malaysia?

correct correct rclxms.gif

ohh... mistake rclxub.gif hahaha... 2 used to FE .. FE usually means fund. eng. ... ermmm... as for field eng. they usually are given positions based on their jobs... any1 that works in the field and it is an engineer is called a field engineer but their real position varies... so people dont usually give positions/job title as field eng.s ...

example:
ah seng: " ohh, that group of field eng.s lar working there".
ahmad: " tall 1 is the mechanical eng. , short 1 is doing electrical, fat 1 is wash toilet 1"

LOL...there are so many meaning for the FE acronym. Me also a Field Engineer. Field engineer is a general term for many types of position. Field Engineers are for those engineers who works on lease sites and in shops.

Field engineers for MWD or LWD usually goes from junior to senior. And then sometimes to Excellence engineers or Base Managers.

Before I kena flamed....I am only giving my point of view from my company. Not others. Others may differ. Kapeche? biggrin.gif

Oh...salary wise....for my company. an FE usually gets around USD50-80K annually depends on their time spent on the field. A senior FE gets about 90-120K. As for taxes, depends if the company you are attached with will pay for it to compensate you or for us malaysians who work abroad....we don't pay a sen for taxes. Malaysia Boleh! tongue.gif

hmm, it's the nature of the job i guess, too specialised on proprietary tools. Other than that, you only get to know bits and pieces of the exploration industry.

but these days very easy to be fired...lol

and WildChai, BHI seem to pay better! w/o the tax + a real rotation!
*
Yeah...rotation really depends on what company and their policy. 5wk/5wk is the norm for some comp. the more u work, the more moolah ya have.

About the salary, I am actually downplaying it....it all depends experience and negotiation. BHI pays higher? for which dept? if it falls under my category, i might consider. LOL.
