QUOTE(aliluya @ Aug 23 2010, 01:58 PM)
stimix bro, i get quote on Taiwan dollar 10,000 with RM 1,020. Is this rate ok?

and also get quote on RM 3,155 for USD$1000. Which one better?

objective is to switch to Taiwan dollar later on.

thanks

RM 3,155 for USD$1000

converting USD$1000 into TWD at the rate of 31.695 = TWD$ 31 695

in another words, the rate that you get is Rm10.0459 = TWD 100 (calculation: 31695 / 3155)

compare with Taiwan dollar 10,000 = RM 1,020 , the rate is RM 10.20 = TWD 100

i got some money remaining from my trip to australia and i would be going to hong kong soon.

would it be wise to take aud to hk and change thr? or i am better off changing aud to myr and then to hkd here in KL?

i would prob be visiting aust in a yr or so.. so am i better off holding on to the aud and just using extra cash (myr) to get hkd?

To really find out, you need to know the money changers avg rate in Germany 1st. & comparing the money changer rate in Malaysia to Bank Negara Benchmark.

If the selling rate & bank negara rate very far apart, changing to US$ will be the best option but if the EURO in M'sia is strong & close to Bank Negara rate, might as well change it in Malaysia

MYR to USD is looking at RM311 to USD100

if you are changing for A LOT of MYR, u can call up and bargain with wawasan before you go there with your cash

1 GBP = MYR 4.8800000 from Wawasan Sentosa

The exchange rate has gotten into one of the lowest point in at least recent two years

as at this morning
source from wawasan sentosa:
RM 309.50 = USD 100
Rm 411.50 = EURO 100

EURUSD = 1.3394
meaning,
EUR 100 = USD 133.94
USD 100 = EUR 74.66

comparison:

If you convert MYR into USD then convert into EUR,
it will be RM 309.50 = USD 100 = EUR 74.66

if you conver MYR into EUR in M'sia,
It wii be Rm 411.50 = EUR 100

Workout:
RM 309.50 = EUR 74.66 : x = EUR 100
x = 100 x 309.50 / 74.66
x = RM 414.879

which mean u are using RM 414.879 for EUR 100 if you convert it twice and the more u convert u lose out more

EURUSD , this pair is on uptrend, meaning that USD is weakening and u need more USD to convert it into EURO.

Don't only look at the rate. But also transportation/parking cost of searching for the best rate..Sometime, it is cheaper just to bargain at the nearest money changer by showing what rate you want by comparing to Bank Negara 9Impossible to get) or even http://www.wawasanmoneychanger.com.my/exchangeRates.asp

There is a trick played by the money changers. If you phone in to ask for the rate, they will usually quote lower than board rate to lure you go over but by the time you reach the counter, they will tell higher rate citing the exchange rate just increased minutes ago. I Kena 2 times already !!
