Its not tough to decide because both device is totally different.
If his budget is 1699 for the next 3 years go for the 808 pureview

if his budget is not only 1699 but increase in few months to a year go for nex3
Next consideration is what type of photos he take?
If always fast action shots = NEX

if just simple random shots go for 808

Actually ya, it's like comparing orange and apple :s

May I know why should he opt for Nex f3 if his budget were to increase in following months please? Because needed for maintenance and lenses?

My guess is.. next year will be his sister's wedding, so he might wan to take some good photographs, but at the same time pocketability is important since he will also be busy entertaining guests and relatives, kinda fussy eh :S

in that case i think NEX better choice, i'm not sure NEX camera can export raw file or not. with more tweak-able setting better la lol.

maintanance? nah wont cost so much i guess. unless he drop camera on floor la. sweat.gif
or room store camera in humit kaw kaw condition then GG liao. unsure.gif

For that get nex3. 808 is not suitable for those type of scene or shots

Basically he's now torn between the factors of "pocketability" and "image quality" and couldn't make up his mind to sacrifice either of them I assume, so.. ended up I can't help him to decide :S
Now asking LYN sellers for best prices of both "cameras", hopefully that could make up his mind derp.

people are so worried about pocketability of camera, even with camera like Sony rx100, you're not going to fit that in your pants, and will need at least a small bag.

image quality? for serious? no comparison. the only thing Nokia will win is the megapixel war in good light, and a camera thats truely always with you. you won't get the same dynamic range and color depth with 808, and that's before you even talk about flexibity of a proper camera, and FAR more superior ISO performance.

if need absolutely pocketable camera, and dont want typical point and shoot quality, save up for Sony rx100.

Hahaha to be honest I don't think he knows how to edit photo regardless Nex supported raw or not, so kinda useless to him xD
how to say humid huh? O.o
normal room temperature without air-cond can already? I've seen someone buy a fridge kind of thingy to control the temperature and put their dslr inside, kinda troublesome eh  sweat.gif
*
only if you dont use camera for long time, actually my DSLR never put in "drybox". oh wait i dont even have it whistling.gif

nah even my n8 beat my D70s in term of iso noise and lower light condition. tongue.gif

but sharpness (pixel per count?) still DSLR win, 6mp raw vs 12mp JPEG

and got many room to edit for DSLR. because n8 got limited WB to choose so it is headache for wedding dinner shot.

yeah, but since they can actually stick such big sensor into the phone, if they make the megapixels more sensible I think there'll be a better chance to compete with camera with 1 inch sensor (albeit still apples and oranges).

QUOTE(AlOnE89 @ Oct 22 2012, 05:24 PM)
hahaha that's exactly what torn between his mind tongue.gif
808 allows you to capture precious moment anytime at any places but you need to forgo quality, nex is definitely the other way round :s
*
i owned 808 for some time now and I can tell you that the best is to have both proper camera and any decent 8mp camera phone. my friend owned galaxy note and the pictures he took floored me, even his reputation being a hopeless camera man. for casual shooting you probably won't need anything better than that. even my other colleague took a shot with his S3 and printed A3 size nobody will actually thought its taken with a camera phone. regarding the xenon flash, there isn't much chance to use it and even if you do use it, it'll look harsh most of the time. yes it's handy to capture something that's impossible without xenon but in my experiences there was only 0.03% chance to use it.

PS: typo on my previous post, last paragraph. should be "portability" instead of "pocketability" because rx100 still not quite small enough to fit into pocket. sweat.gif

I think RX100 does support RAW file right? O.o
Just that they might need to convert it into another format to edit with photoshop (not too sure of that sweat.gif )
I wonder if pureview phase 3 will be raw format, that will be awesome lolololololol

True. I got many friends keeping their big gun at home, they only bring it out on big festive season, and collecting dust most of the time sweat.gif
Well.. I guess I might convince him to get Nokia 808 first and only consider about "true camera" later, it's also good to save more and aim for better big gun, and tbh.. he doesn't look like the one that willing to bring big guns all the time -.-

The key word now is Window 8 and its phone OS. Once released only then we can see some life at Nokia store.

Everyone is waiting for that OS. I know I do too (for touch screen laptop and wacom pen).

Nokia had/had been raped by many stubborn ceo, that's the cause if their downfall
They're like: we don't want to be too mainstream, so we will go the dead ended way, and we shall succeed with our sky high reputation!

That's what tarnished the brand,derp.
