how much for new one? different car different price.. as for vios second gen is rm2889 for new alternator, recond is rm230, while service at this shop only mere rm140 (repair the original alternator)

don t go repair the alternator as the warranty only few weeks maximum one month .maybe u can try ask those shop selling spare part . for me so far i bought for wira original new alternator arnd RM400 n nissan sentra b14 Rm 700 from spare part chop . Worse come to worse maybe u can try ask those halfcut second hand better than recond

i changed my alternator many years ago.

a recon alternator cost me rm175, warranty 3months.

after use 1month, car engine die off suddenly.

go back claim, replace a "new" recon alternator.

2nd month same case.

go back claim again, replace a "new" recon alternator.

3rd month, same case.

go back claim again, replace a "new" recon alternator.

thereafter use for another few years and sold off my old car.

lesson : recon alternator is solely depends on lucks.

Just back from the shop and get my starter repaired.. My car failed to start and towing fr Midvalley to jalan Ipoh..the lady boss should remember me.

And I can tell you it's damn difficult to take out the starter out from my car..the service is top notch

no. check/replace battery.

How old is your battery? 99% is due to weak battery that do not have the power to crank up the engine.

A weak battery can still power on your radio & headlights easily.

Guys, it for example to repair the alternator costs RM200, while a recon alternator cost RM300 (both including installation la).

which is better? My alternator was changed last year already. not one year need to change again. So, to repair an alternator that you know not even one year aready faulty, or try luck get recon hopefully lasts atleast 2 years more?

Go and repair it at the shop mentioned above. Record set depends on your luck.

Same symptom as my car, no crank at all. Turn out is starter problem.

before fail service ur alternator.change 2 bearing&carbon only 120 at my place..carbon is critical component..starter is cheap,just change new.no need service..

Last saturday, I get help from my fren to push the car n jump start it. (Manual)
Drive it straight away to the alternator shop, too crowded!! left it there for 5 hours and ask the uncle to service anything about alternator n starter.

Damage: RM220
- 2 alternator bearings
- starter solenoid (got water coming in it, dunno how)
- bushings
- battery connector head

Turns out, my starter is really kong, I dun dare to test restarting my engine that day.
Uncle said battery still fine. hehe

really got issue, good to know you got it sorted out at least

and i wonder if LYN gave him a lot of business haha... back in the days when i first went there, barely anyone around hehehe

Btw, I talked to the auntie while waiting for my fren to pick me up and she said, many ppl said they come from internet gathering place (in mandarin) which I assume is a forum, and I'm pretty sure it is LYN.


And they are going to move to Kepong in this mid 2016, bcos the jalan Ipoh there need to widen the road.
They said nearby Aeon Big kepong there, but not sure where exactly.
