Do this shop do preventive maintenance on alternator?

Meaning to replace worn out parts with new parts to restore the life of the alternator.
*
For preventive maintenance, they don't.
I went there, ask them to check my car's electric, they say everything is good, no need to change.
That's all.

For 12 year old Kelisa, let me share my experience.

Recently, morning starting engine seemed no energy/power to start, but can start.
Suspected the dry-battery, korean generic brand, only 8 months.
Changed to a new BOSCH wet battery, stared fine.

Next morning, again the same problem, so I suspect alternator.

Sent kelisa to Pero2 workshop, they said alternator fine, must be the Starter.
Changed the starter (dont know if its new or recond unit) but cost RM300 + RM80 labour.

Come home, next day, same problem again, but the engin can start but struggling.

Could it be any cabling involved?
Any suggestions from any sifu or experienced folks here?

Thank you.

Thanks Bro.
You mentioned "coil"; which coil is this?
Is it the distributor coil or ???

I don't really know much about engine electonics.
I already changed a new set of spark plugs.
Battery cables looked fine.
Pero2 did the checking for alternator too.

yup distributor coil. but normally if its distributor coil even when the engine is idling theres constant jerking to the engine.
if its just on start-up might be your battery terminal , cables , spark plug etc. but since you mention its all new an okay.
rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif quite a headache also.
btw to check whether its your alternator that needs changing , start the car and unplug the negative terminal if the car is running straight without dying then you have a good alternator. if its not then time to replace or refurbish (**beware that this method some say would cause damage to modern car ECU, though personally ive tried it on a couple of my cars and it seems okay without any problem). the normal safe and easy method have to use voltmeter

Actually recond may not be what you think it is. I can share a little bit since I used to have a client who done this.

Most are sourced from Japan due to our market dominated by Japanese brands. I think it is also due to the fact that Japanese limit their cars life to 5 years. What they did was take the case out and refurbished it. I think they changed a pulley and put everything back together in a nice box. These usually dont last long which is why they give 1 year warranty. However if your usage is not much, these can last for a while. Its earning big bucks. Unbelievable but true. Its truly a con job.

Omg. Now only found out this thread. My business is related with industrial engine. There are a lot of faulty alternator and starter with me now. Around 60 units I guess.. Zzz
Normal car service shop claimed that can't be fixed anymore. Guess I gonna visit them soon.
