Hey guys, Need recommendations. I do not think there is a laptop that meets my requirements which is weird.

Screen size 14inch (resolution the lower the better.for me 1366x768 is max for a 14 incher given win7's shitty DPI scaling, furthermore I plan to do light gaming so lower res the better)
GPU : preferably 28nm tech. doesnt matter if amd or nvidia. At this point even rebranded 40nm crap will do.
Battery : at least 5hrs on moderate wifi surfing.
Budget : Doesnt matter anything below rm3.5k is fine
CPU : doest matter , the lower the tdp the better.
Must have MSata slot for mSSD.

bottomline : I need a versatile  laptop with mSSD and a low end GPU -something better than hd4000 of course.

PS : It doesnt have to be from malaysia. Leave the sourcing to me

Best regards.

EDIT : I was hoping that the u2442 had a decent battery life. but that was a MAJOR letdown. Furthermore, I was considering the Acer M5 but given the inaccessibility of the Mssd and ram slot I will give that a miss . I have pudgy fingers and hate to work with electronics especially with mobile laptop cables.

Went to Lowyat yesterday to check out laptops.
I must say that if you are a gamer (maybe not a heavy one) and want the best bang for buck, then go for Lenovo G480. i5, 6 cell battery, 2.5ghz for only RM1750. Really worth it.

Good evening,
My requirements are as follows :
Brand : anything except Acer
Budget : around 3K
Usage : surfing, live streaming of sports events e.g. BPL, IAAF; online videos and movies, online music (watching & downloading), online stocks and other financial applications
Screen : around 15"
I'm not tech savvy and used the laptop for work previously; now retired and doing own agency work.
Would greatly appreciate your advice and recommendation, including where I can go to get good deals.
Thanks very much!

To situ here, please recommend,
1. Preferred Brand - Not Asus/Msi
2. Budget - RM3k-5k
3. Usage:
adobe software usage (photoshop, illustrator, etc), flash gaming, movie watching(bluray drive is a must), web surfing and p2p.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15 inch FHD

I would like something with HDMI output, SSD as main drive and sata as 2nd drive. Light weight would be ideal.

Thanks in advanced.

Thanks for responding barca.
I lived in Siglap when I went to school in Sg, which was decades ago! Do you know the place?
Back to my enquiry :
How much Ram would I need? Which of these two are more reliable/hardy - I want to use this laptop for 3 to 5 years. Any particular place to get it from and what about warranty?
Many thanks in advance.

Hard to get 5hour of usage .
Anyway , a laptop battery is about RM200-300 not a big problem . U can consider battery life later .

Your last requirement will not be possible unfortunately, most stock laptops don't come with that kind of configurations (there are not that much bays for a HDD + SSD +optical drive; and most are not light at all laugh.gif
At least no the current generation of 15" powerhouses laugh.gif
Perhaps these?
15.6"
Lenovo Ideapad Y580, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM3599[JBL], 8GB, 1TB HDD(7200rpm), W7HP, backlit keyboard, 2 years international warranty

* use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years and either convert the optical drive to SSD/HDD, or replace the HDD with SSD

If this is stilll not good enough, then import a Sager, customize everything here: http://www.illegear.com/
