The Y400 that you buy come with an uktrabay ODD. Lenovo is going to release a ultrabay that contain another GPU. You can swap ultrabay.

Unfortunately RM5k cannot get you a Dell Precision sad.gif
Perhaps you can consider the Lenovo Y580 or Y500 instead.
15.6"
Lenovo
Ideapad Y500, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920x1080)@RM3799, 4GB, 500GB, W8; GN36 exGPU, 170W AC adapter
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB/W8, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty

Since the GT650M is more or less similar in terms of performance to the GTX660m, it might be a wiser pick to choose the Y500 even though most softwares (for work) probably don't support SLI. Its good to have the dual GPUs for gaming hehe laugh.gif
Use the remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years, upgrade RAM to 8GB, and upgrade the HDD to SSD (very important laugh.gif)

Since you have a good budget, you can consider these as well:
15.6"
Asus G55VW-S1216H, i7-3610QM +Nvidia GTX660M (2GB) + (1920x1080)@3999[3.78kg], 4GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8
MSI GE60, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GTX660M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + Bluray@RM4199, 8GB, 1TB(7200rpm), W7HP, 2 years warranty, gaming mouse & backpack, Free SteelSeries QCK Mass mousepad

Similarly, upgrade warranty, RAM and HDD thumbup.gif

The Inspiron 14 and both Lenovo G480 performs the best in terms of CPU.
Whereas the G480 and possibly the Z585 performs best in terms of GPU. icon_rolleyes.gif
The Lenovo G480 with GT635M seemed the most balanced among all these notebooks, a good choice if you are on a budget but still want something with some decent graphic power~ laugh.gif

Can try to get from this guy, his offer is a steal to be honest laugh.gif
New 13" Toshiba Portege Z930 (original RRP 3399 without warranty extension). He is selling RM2.7k with 3 years warranty  wub.gif

Otherwise, can consider these:
14"
Asus VivoBook S400CA=CA006H, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB + (1366x768; touch)@RM2499[2kg], 4GB, W8

Dell [Ultrabook]Inspiron 14z, i5-3317U + AMD HD7570M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2449[1.87kg], 4GB, W8 *no VGA port, OD

HP [Ultrabook] Envy4-1009TU/1019TU, i3-2367M + Intel HD3000 + 32GB mSATA+ 500GB(5400rpm)@RM1899[Beats][1.75kg], 4GB, W7HP

Lenovo [Ultrabook]S400, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM2099[1.8kg], 4GB, W7HB; W8@RM2199

Toshiba [Ultrabook] Satellite U840-1008X, i5-3317U + AMD HD7550M + 32GB mSATA + 500GB HDD@RM2799[1.7kg], 4GB, backlit keyboard, color: silver

*use remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years and you're good to go~

Wow, this topic grows really fast. I think I will go with the Dell, just worry that people may not be all that familiar with Windows 8. I think the Dell ULtrabook is not a touch screen either. Thanks for your multiple choice recommendation. We are not a fan of HP nor Lenovo. I think Dell's the way to go. Thanks again!

QUOTE(zerofish @ Dec 30 2012, 02:45 AM)
I'll have to pass on that offer because I need something brand new with receipt. And I never buy from forum. This is for business use, hope you understand. thanks.

1. Preferred Brand - any brand except acer( bad material feel) and asus (bad warranty service)
2. Budget - 2.5-3k
3. Usage - light gaming ( some nfs most wanted ) file reading (law student)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14 if possible fhd screen for the max working space. if possible 15 might be ok if the weight is not too heavy and most of all must be portable not too bulky

For gaming, these would be better brows.gif
Assuming you are looking for a 14"
Lenovo
Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M@RM2799, 4GB, 500GB, W8, 120wPSU, swappable ODD
Y480(5934-7549), i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M (GDDR5) @RM2599 [JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, freeDOS
Y480(5934-1372), i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650(GDDR5)@RM2699[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, W7HB

The Y400 is pretty new, do check it out brows.gif

No 14" in Malaysia come with 1920x1080 (FHD) screen.
Therefore you will not be able to see FHD (1080p) materials (movie, video ...) properly on screen (scale down). What you can do is to connect through HDMI port to an external display or HDTV that can show FHD .

Go and touch the new S7 from Acer, it has a quality feel smile.gif Not going to refute your comment on dear Asus though smile.gif

There is no FHD (1920x1080) screen for 14" in Malaysia. The best you can get for 14" is HD+ (1600x900) but those come in models that exceed your budget tongue.gif Cheapest:
Dell
XPS 14, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT630M + 32GB mSATA+ 500GB(5400rpm) HDD + (1600x900)@RM3749[2.1kg], 4GB, backlit, spill resistant keyboard, W8
HP
Envy [Ultrabook] (Spectre) 14-3111TU, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + (1600x900 Radiance) + 128GB SSD@RM3999[1.8kg], 4GB
Samsung
NP700Z3C, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M + (1600x900)@RM3599[2.07kg], 6GB, 1TB, W7HP

If you go 15" and want FHD, they are kind of heavy (~ 3kg).

Dell
Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional, W7HP/W8

Lenovo
Ideapad Y580, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GTX660M + 1920x1080 @RM2999[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB/W8, backlit keyboard, 2 yrs warranty

If you go 14" (only HD screen):
Dell
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2049[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), W7HP/W8

Toshiba

I can't judge for you whether the screen size / keyboard is too small for you. I strongly suggest you go out and touch and feel the real thing biggrin.gif

If you find the screen / keyboard too small for your liking, then come back and ask the sifus again icon_rolleyes.gif

http://ark.intel.com/products/series/65795
i3 Ivy bridge ULV always come with HD 4000. Intel is not going to cook some special chips laugh.gif
The UMA is related to the B9/8xx Pentium CPU, and the catalog just printed it that way.
The easiest way to verify is to check the display unit, and look at the device manager. Go out and poke poke touch touch the real thing already laugh.gif

Lots of owners' comment in those threads.

Y400 is only 14" lah laugh.gif

You can check out LYN garage sales forum, there are some reputable reseller there.
Or you can check with the owners in those threads above and compare deals with them.
Or you could PM "devour" sifu in LYN (disclaimer: we are not related as far as I know smile.gif )
Remember to negotiate. Beware of grey import unit and its caveat.

Don't waste your money on the i7, you probably won't need it.
Get the i5 spec, extend warranty to 3 years. Remember to negotiate. Spend the remaining budget on RAM (4G ~ RM80).

If you really want i7, get this:
Y480, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT650M (GDDR5) @RM2599 [JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, freeDOS
Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650(GDDR5)@RM2699[JBL], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, W7HB
Price is RSP, negotiate, within your budget.
