ive been eye-ing on dell 14r se but couldn't make a choice wether to get the i5 version or i7 version. Which one is a better package deal?

Don't waste your money on the i7, you probably won't need it.
Get the i5 spec, extend warranty to 3 years. Remember to negotiate. Spend the remaining budget on RAM (4G ~ RM80).

If you really want i7, get this:
