tm noob tell me my area will get unifi soon,

so dont have 8mb.

already wait unifi 3 year++ . still say got unifi soon.
*
Do what I tell you, email them, ask them about availibility, ask them about unifi, once they replied, screenshot the email, make a complaint at cfm or mcmc, attach the email screenshot, make an essay about it. Good luck.

Yes , using LAN cable . and yesterday after they installed , my friend use the connection alone since we all(housemates) went out for classes and the speed is so superb and ping is reasonable , then after some time suddenly he experience drop in speed in extreme and the speed fluctuate , at night after we're all back it's abit slow too , even only 3 of us using , one facebook while two playing dota 2 and the game is so delay since the ping is high , we even go into experiment by calling everybody to get disconnected while i turn on dota 2 game in my laptop and the ping is so high ,

Use double refresh method for youtube.
Your torrent probably FUP'd.

Guys.. use refresh method, it works. How?
Load any youtube link for 5 secs, then refresh, it will buffer faster afterwards. You shouldn't have any problem with video that locally made or made viral locally because they already cached in youtube sg when first requested by first guy in the geo location.

Longer videos took longer to cache. Keep on refreshing til it actually loads faster.

Thanks man, but I don't know how VPS work, like how to setup and stuff. Hell I don't even know such thing exist to be honest.
Also which one is the USD15/per year one? I can't tell which is which and what they do.  sad.gif

FYI, same thing happened last year but a simple restart to get another ip range fixed everything and back to full speed. But this time I don't know if its just me or they really throttle and filter like theres no tomorrow, everything won't work except for direct download.
*
Pretty simple, once you purchased one, install your OS of choice, debian or anything.

Use putty to ssh to your vps, login information to your vps should be provided in prove of purchase email.
Once you're in, type this in console

CODE
sudo apt-get install znc

CODE
adduser <yourpreferredusername> (after you typed this you will be prompted to input unix password, just input any password you want)

logout/exit ssh session
login as newly created user
CODE
znc --makeconf

aand you're done. There's plenty of guide how to setup as well.

If you can't even hit 5kbps, probably your line, call 100

7 working days, but usually takes few hours to get your new speed activated. Try restarting your router and see any changes in it.
*
Should be instant, not 7 days.

QUOTE(leymahn @ Aug 18 2013, 10:37 AM)

Fine and dandy over here, call 100 if your connection is terrible

I would like to upgrade from 1mbps to 4mbps, what concern me only is about the stability. So far the 1mbps I am using is quite stable with only like 1dc per day. I don't mind if the 4mbps do not reach its maximum potential speed but i cannot stand if it dc frequently.  Is 4mbps stability same as 1mbps ?

I heard unifi is more stable than streamyx but I don't want to change my phone number and it has a download quota in it.
*
If you DC at least once per day, don't bother upgrading, stability deteriorate upon increment of speed and another reason, your line is less likely supports 4Mbps.

Meanwhile, I get around 38 - 150 KB/s (heavily fluctuating with bias towards lower speed) from my ftp server located in Europe. Normally, I get around 380KB/s from the ftp server.

Weird part, after 12 midnight till 8 am, I can get full speed ahead, after that, slow downloading rate again.

Congested link EU -> MY. It's always like that since..forever.

I'm from Kuching, Sarawak, upgraded to 4mb few weeks ago.

Streamyx speedometer always shows my speed about 2Mbps to 3Mbps, speed climb up slowly. If I test using speedtest.net, it shows me about 3.2Mbps to 4Mbps, ping is about 70ms to 90ms average. Wonder why speedtest.net can report higher speed than streamyx speedometer...

For the file download testing, I found out that if download file on single thread, can only get speed about 100kB/s to 200kB/s, hardly reach above 300kB/s. If download with multi-thread using download manager, speed can reach about 320kB/s to 450kB/s.

Anyone having similar experience? Is that considered normal?
*
It's all about the physical server geolocation and the route. Basicly the lower latency, the higher download speed you can achieve.

QUOTE(KaoruQing @ Sep 24 2013, 12:23 PM)
I'm not in Kuching currently but I have a speedtest result back in August for your references.

user posted image

In my case, I got an average ping from Kuching to Cyberjaya around 40-60ms and average download speed above 400kB/s and can hit up to 550kB/s. Just a few hiccups every few months where the connection slow down for everything for no apparent reason and it can last from a few days to a whole month.
*
Don't let the problem goes unreported, you can get rebate from doing a slowdown report you know.

Today is 29th .Once again i call them up to check my request status and ask them how they going to do about my bill.
My bill has arrived with a new  outstanding for october.
I'm billed for a service i never used for a month.
Isnt this daylight robbery ?

The emails i sent in through their online customer support is totally useless.
No responce at all. I sent more than 6 in total and none were responded.
*
No need MCMC if you just want refund, just ask them for it and they will process it for you but in your case mostly need to terminate because service unavailable at your place.

Terminate means need to eat penalty fee because i have not subscribed for over 1 year for this 4meg line.

There is service availability actually. Infact some of the users reside in my neighbourhood is using streamyx.
But not too many.
Port not available as i say is just too far fetch because there are streamyx subscriber in my vicinity.
Port full is plain silly because less than 10 subscribers in my neighbourhood.

My area is consider quite new but there are already subscribers.
The last time they check their system and they show it to me.
Lorong 41 and 44 was shown to be covered. Lorong 46 wasnt and their map doesnt even have lorong 46 on it.
But lorong 44 and 46 is sharing the same utility pole for telephone lines.
How could they assume that it's not covered?

It's very clear that they did not update their system. Instead of channelling this up to the management team, they chuck it aside. Because it's a problemsome issue ,they dont want to get tied down*year end is near*. They took the most ugly way to settle this issue. Which is to cancel application with a lame excuse.

If subscriber not tied down to any contract base of course noone care about it. But now for my case i had these termination penalty chained to me.I'll haunt them till they get something done because the bill is continue ongoing.

Excuses wont work here because i'm tied to something. They dont solve it i'll have to hunt them down whether i like it or not. If not i'll have to pay those bills myself every month or eat the termination fee myself.

Their ways of handling things really immature. Only want to do simple stuff and troublesome ones they directly use lame excuses to reject. Dont even bother calling back. It's like i'm begging them to install streamyx at my home as a customer. It's worse than applying for loans and credit card lol.
*
Still belongs to service unavailable, your contract can be cancelled, it's stated in your registration form. It's very rare for TM to provide extra pole just for one person unless you're willing paid for it. There's no reason for them to lie, they want profit not loss. If you're still persistent about this, write a letter to Prime Minister Office. I've seen plenty letter written to PMO got approved by TM. This however, will take 1-2months to process.

Thanks for that extra piece of information. Although i doubt it might work. The PM has no deal with the likes of me.
Why would he entertain my letter out of so many he got.
And one thing to confirm, there's no need to erect a telephone pole behind my house. Because there's already one.

Could take a look at this picture since picture is more than a thousand words.
The current situation.
*
If there's already a pole then confirmed port full.. If want to add more port need about 5 or more person wanted to subscribe, then go to TMPoint together, they will process it. Anyway dont lose your hope, just try whatever you can. MCMC and CFM will do for now. Also go to TMPoint mention them you having this problem then they will try to settle it (mostly they going to cancel your contract), else your bill will keep on going. For refund call 100, go to Billing then ask for refund due to service unavailability, make sure you keep all the reports number just in case and day of the start you having problem.

monopoly company, consumers can't do much about it. sigh.
*
In fact they aren't on the wrong side. TM contractor are usually being nice by giving extra few megabit, if you have problem they will send technician to troubleshoot, usually involving changing your wire in the cabinet which automatically assigned you to lower capped/higher speed capped port.

I have 3 VPS non kimsufi public facing that are being scanned 24/7 and brute forced, to encounter this just change ssh default port, smooth sailing afterwards.
