What is Gunpla?

Gundam Models refers to plastic and non-plastic model kits depicting the mechas, vehicles and characters of the fictional Mobile Suit Gundam universe. These kits have become popular among anime fans and model-lovers, especially in Japan and in other nearby Asian countries since 1980s. The popularity of Gundam models increased in the 1990s with North America and Europe being exposed to Gundam through television, video and manga. These Gundam Models may also be called Gunpla (ガンプラ Ganpura?), a portmanteau of "Gundam plastic model". "Gunpla" more commonly refers to the practice of building Gundam models, rather than the models themselves.

You mean topcoat? I mostly use it to get rid of the glossy finish on the plastic, which is why I use a flat coat. Speaking of flat coat:

I still hate how I broke his front shoulder hatch(hence why his front shoulder missiles aren't firing), but I still love how the kit turned out. Two down, three to go. smile.gif

What kind of spray you refering to ? paint spray or top coat ?

If it was paint spray, i always want a flat paint since i don't like shiny armor.

There is still a handful left though...and some of the leftovers shaped as though they really meant to be placed somewhere.

As tedious as the decals go, it's a heck of a fun build. This RG has that solid feel to it. Recommended for first RG attempt...

Hmmm, should i go for RG Freedom or RX-78-2 next?

I tried to vary my builds so i don't get bored with the same inner frame. Like the case of Freedom since i just recently went through Justice. Though the backpack is a different animal...

Ya, i will be fukken pissed if i break any parts building RG RX-78-2, saw too many negative comments. Anyone or did you breake any parts? When you say cry, is it because the joints are scary or it is easy to damage?

On the decals, i think they roll up because the kits surface gets kinda oily when you manipulate around and decal dun stay too well on them. I tend to wipe clean the surface before i stick them. Maybe Mr. Setter? I don't know how it works though...

they are real different colour separator, which means it is not same with strike level lol.
and ya got some parts really small.
i never break parts, only accident cut RG-02's zaku's balls. rolleyes.gif
no, ya you are right, but what i mean is some decal need trim or sometimes i complete remove it to other flat surface. unsure.gif
check the chrome sticker part then you will know.

that's why i rather use chrome marker paint on those joint whistling.gif

i have HG 00 series
mostly they cant hold the weapon well compared to HGUC

some of the kit have balance issue too(like HG 00 Raiser,Cherudim), so you might need an action base to display the kit

Krylon matte finish 30 bucks but come in large can, equivalent to u buying two cans of mr hobby top coat for the price of 1.

Another way is to DIY, mix some tamiya flat base with future floor acrylic. This is the most cost effective way but u nid an AB.

Well u nid to 1st kno that top coat is virtually just a clear layer of paint. Future floor is actually a coat to make ur marble floor shiny and since its an acrylic base u can use it for model kit. Effectively making future floor == top coat gloss

Next u nid to know that tamiya base flat is not for painting on the surface directly, it has to mix with paints to turn the paint to matte finish. Thus in order to make a top coat matte, all we nid is the base flat + a clear paint (which is what future floor is for).

Future floor no longer calls by that name, i dun rember it from the top of my head but u can google it. It can be found in Ace Hardware.

take your time tongue.gif each one u assemble slowly and pay attention to detailing and painting, even though it takes u super long, u will feel it is worth it thumbup.gif
and the purple in the pic i think a bit too dark tongue.gif maybe in between that one and the original purple would be nice.. need some light colors to break up the black and red laugh.gif

I just started building my HGUC Kshatriya for a group build
and I must say, I now understand why the hefty price tag
the amount of plastic, the number of parts, the colour separation, even something close to inner frame
except the articulation and the scale, it's already close to being a MG, or even better than most old MG kits thumbup.gif
even if Bandai never plan to make a MG Kshatriya, I'm quite happy already biggrin.gif

Normally yes, as of late no. older MG usually high price == lots of plastic (Ex-S for example)
Lately high price is related to xtras like effect parts or blink-blink or Bandai suka-suka raise the price. The-O for instance which is about the size of Ex-S, nothing fancy, no blink-blink, no special parts, infact not enuf beam saber effect parts n still its much much more expensive then Ex-S.

Hmm actually The-O use more plastic; even if the height is the same, every part of The-O is bulky, while Ex-S has thinner legs and arms. One more thing, from my observation, JP company seems to have rule of not selling older release at higher price than what it was when they first release. If Ex-S is first released this year instead of several years back, the price might be same or almost the same with The-O now.

well one thing about JP company is when they put a price, it stays that price.. which is a really great practice
even on the side of the box, the price of the kit is marked.. so the only change comes from the exchange rate and our local hobby stores raising the prices sweat.gif
normally even when they re-release kits, it stays the same price as before, no mark up or down thumbup.gif

Ex-S actually has more parts. The leg may be skinny but unlike The-O its not several big panels stick together, the leg is actually more complex then it looked. From Dalong, u can c that Ex-S has 639 parts to The-O 485.

Ex-S also hav more runners, 33 of em compare to The-O 21.

The-O bulkyness is balance out with Ex-S external fuel tank + BFG + 2 enormous backpack + pg style display base. Plastic volume wise, Ex-S has more if not equal The-O.

Yes Bandai would not sell older releases with adjusted pricing, ppl would rage n tey would lose alot of cust. For kit like Ex-S if release now it would reach FAU level pricing not The-O cuz FAU actually has more parts n runners then The-O (and Ex-S for that matter, Ex-S now ranked 2nd most runner MG kits).

I still could not brain why The-O cost so much when both Ex-S n FAU has more parts, more runners, more accessories and yet cost much less.

the volume of plastic matters

and we normal consumers do not know how does things affect the cost of creating the moulds
but as i seen from Discovery Channel, the creation of the mould is the most costly thing in the whole process

the volume of plastic matters

and we normal consumers do not know how does things affect the cost of creating the moulds
but as i seen from Discovery Channel, the creation of the mould is the most costly thing in the whole process
n usually it's not up to quality after certain amount of usage, then they have to replace it
*
yes the volume of plastic matter that goes without saying but Ex-S hav roughly equal The-O. Take into account of its backpack, the external fuel tank, the BFG and the display stand would those not enuf as equalizer? Even if its slightly less then The-O plastic pricing is not the biggest factor. Certainly not enuf to offset the thousand of yen differences.

Plastic volume hav no relationship with the number of mould, the number of runners do. More runners means more moulds which means more nid to be replace for every cycle and more chances of bad moulds and yes moulds is the most expensive part in creating a kit. For Ex-S it has more then The-O so from that view point, Ex-S cost more to produce.

Lets take Ex-S out of the equation due to its age n cost of inflation we do not know how much it actually cost right now, n compare it to FAU a more recent kit. FAU like Ex-S has more parts n more runners then The-O, yes The-O is more bulky but due to the amount of weapons, the base jabber + the 2 huge fuel tank, surely the amount of parts given would equalize if not surpass The-O in terms of plastic volume, yet its much cheaper. Why? rclxub.gif

like i said, we dunno what actually affects cost of mould, not necessarily number of moulds sweat.gif

I'm not sure with The-O, but Ex-S fuel tanks are hollow inside, maybe The-O's plastic thicker
what I'm trying to say is there's many possibilties which affect the price of the kit, and we may never know

but 1 thing I'm sure, milking old moulds(FAU case) does reduce costs significantly, as you skip the designing, prototype and testing phase
that's why Lego company whenever they design new sets they try to use old bricks as much as possible

Krylon matte finish 30 bucks but come in large can, equivalent to u buying two cans of mr hobby top coat for the price of 1.

Another way is to DIY, mix some tamiya flat base with future floor acrylic. This is the most cost effective way but u nid an AB.

Krylon matte finish takes longer to dry?
and where can i get it?

everything is painted but mostly is paint with its original color. The BFG as u can tell is of different tone, so is the backpack. The knee cap painted so that the outer frame look like is part of the inner frame, the orange is of slightly darker tone, chest vents is painted to look less monotone, bottom of the feet is painted to expose more details, all weapon barrels is of silver but crap silver (at that time dun hav any good wan so i just use what is available) and thats about it. Oh and the shoulder wing is inverted. Didn't go too much and just keep it as close to the original as possible. The idea is to hav it look like stock yet not quite 100% stock.

nop curing time is about the same, get it at Ace Hardware. Actually if ur going with the spray can method there are other alternatives n can b found in most local hardware shop but i do not kno of the brand, all i kno is its even more cheaper than Krylon but must bcareful as some brand would melt the plastic away. Best is u try it on some runners b4 using if ur not confident bout it.

It's a Tamashii base. It's a temporary thing until I build Deathscythe and have both of them connected to the same action base.

guys, just ordered airbrush from my seller. But i got one question, my seller included a GX100 clear for me(i think is Mr. Color one), he said that one can make it as a protective layer(something like top coat, but this one is glossy i think). but this is first time i use airbrush, so i also dunno about this and i need advice on this. So i just spray this after finish painting?

the sequence is like(correct me if i'm wrong)

primer-->2 to 3 layers of paint-->then this GX100 clear-->decals?-->GX100 again?-->then only panel line wash-->then lastly what?

please bear with me coz totally new in airbrush@@.

I hear that Kotobukiya shop there sell their product much more expensive than other shop but don't remember it because other shops sell below the retail price or they upscale the price.

Kotobukiya Shop located in Akihabara.

haha.. overthinking.. maybe they just took older stock? but i'm surprised Gamers doesn't have it even on newer ones like AGE-FX

420 dollars shipped. Suffice to say, between this and the Nu Gundam ver ka which I have already paid for, Amuro Ray has taken a lot of my money this year.

I don't get the cellphone. I'm guessing the buyer probably just wanted the phone and had no use for the model kit. The draw for me getting it is that the only way to get the model normally is to buy the phone, the fact that almost the entire inner frame is metal, and that the design is based off the 1/1 scale Gundam.

It's hardly a big deal. I don't need the phone and I doubt that I could even use it in Canada even if I did get it. Besides, I read that the price of the phone+model kit was a 1,000 dollars USD back when it was released. I sure as hell wasn't going to pay THAT much for the model kit...

With Bandai revisiting the Seed mobile suits for their MG line, do you think we will ever see an MG Freedom 2.0 or MG Aile Strike 2.0 by next year? sweat.gif

After taking a look at the runners of the RG Freedom which I bought this week, I was wondering how nice would it be if these parts were on 1/100 scale plus all the colour separation. sweat.gif

GP01 & GP02A deserve it way more then freedom or strike. Hell even kit that are release latter then those 2 got a 2.0, compare to GP0 series strike n freedom is light years ahead. Bandai didn't make 2.0 wing ver ka after last year wing-fest what makes u think Bandai would go strike/freedom 2.0? If anything it'll b something that is missing from seed line (like justice or providence) rather then revisit strike.

TheAdmiral, you are right, there are older UC suits that deserve a 2.0. But somehow I have a feeling that GP01 will get an RG treatment first. I'm not a fan of any particular series, it's just that I love the design of the Freedom (not Strike Freedom). Bought the MG version of Freedom as it looked 'quite ok' based on photos at dalong.net.... but later not really satisfied with the details... I looked at the box.. made in 2004. I purchased the RG after that, very satisfied with the details, but not the scale. I'm a straight-builder by the way with minimal detailing such as panel lining. I think you get what I mean.

I actually use dirt around my house (free la laugh.gif) and then filter it into 2, one is fine that i use for the road and another one which contain small rocks for the hill. Oh and i use airbrush (chepo one i might add) to spray poster color on the road as it originally black because handbrush just dump so much paint into one spot and drag the dirt with it which i not looking forward to.

Well i don't think painting diorama need to use hobby paint anyway tongue.gif

Also when i mean cheap airbrush i really mean it like this which cost about RM30. Single action and don't have the hassle to clean up since it don't have needle and stuff just press to push air and open the front valve to spray. Don't really have the control of double action ones but it have jars which is great for me for spraying primer even tho it tend to clog up sometimes but even a mix of 1:1 ratio of poster color and water, it still watery which not really a problem with painting diorama but it certainly don't look good on model kits.

Hmm, pertaining to RG i dun think Bandai would go that route at least not in the near future. The line hasnt matured yet and its price range is quite expensive given the scale, Bandai would preferably take the safe route n make things that will sell well for the time being to avoid killing the line b4 it even took off. Aside from the iconic OYW suits and Zeta most younger fanbase do not know much bout UC as such i think Bandai would stick to making something new that is still fresh in ppl's mind (like seed or 00 mayb) to maximize sales for RG line. Things like the GP0 series is a long shot, it doesnt help that its OVA ended eons ago.

Given that the past years we had a TV series, a rerun and a highly successful OVA, the MG line is filled with design from these series. As next year we will hav no new tv series, the end of the rerun series n the end of that OVA hopefully Bandai would go back and continue 2.0 line and release those that deserved it.

TheAdmiral, your take on the RG line really made sense. Here I am thinking that Bandai would go for suits from ZZ or Stardust after they released the Zeta Gundam for their RG line.. Then suddenly... BAM! out of nowhere something from 00. If that happens, I would love a suit like Exia as an RG kit.

As for the MG line, most of us already know about an updated MG Nu by the end this year, after 12 long years. What's next? A Sazabi 2.0 maybe? drool.gif

I also want something like GP01FB  sweat.gif , but if Bandai gave me something like Exia or Red Frame as the next RG, I'd be even happier!

Yes Exia and Red Frame in RG is highly welcome, that will make RG sell like hotcakes especially Red Frame and not too far fetched either just use back strike frame.

MG Sazabi ver ka is a given, Nu n Sazabi come together as evident by their HG n RD counterparts, the prob is time. We know it'll probably b ver ka instead of 2.0, we know that ver ka has a special time slot (December) and we know Unicorn is to finish at the end of 2013, Bandai would want to maximize profit n release Unicorn kit around that time especially December to coincide with Christmas. We also know seed rerun will probably end early 2013, Bandai would want to maximize that series as well. This leave Sazabi somewhere in the middle or could be delayed to December 2014.

was that the effect of the black light?
the glowing part yes, but the light spreading effect is not. This is a special RD Unicorn where some of the panels are painted with uv paint, if u look at the model in normal light the spreading effect is still there cos that is spray on. Black light only responsible for the glowing part. If ur thinking of emulating it with regular model, forget bout it. Im not sure bout the HG Unicorn but the MG wan the original red psychoframe dun glow as brightly as the green or orange wan, seems that the lighter the color the better it glow.

finally after delayed since February, i completed my kit sweat.gif
Pros: Good proportion, almost all part mold in color, 2x cheaper price than old MG,and the clear yellow beam effect and deploy funnels
Cons: the ball joint waist, it keep leaning to the back.. if only they give a rod type waist to this kit, it would be perfect, the big shield also limited the left arm movement

I think you should. it has a considerably good color separations and proportions. and oh, forget about the decals. the one on my build are leftovers from other kits. hehehe.. the one supplied out-of-the-box only has foil stickers, and no clear sticker at all doh.gif

One to go. Deathscythe is also officially the hardest kit to get posed like his boxart. I can't use the hands that actually peg into the scythe(that was a poor design choice only having holes on one side of the handle), and the only reason the scythe is staying in place is because the shield has got it wedged there.

The only significant difference that i see was that Gaza-C Pink ver have a stand included while the custom not. You can check at Dalong to compare the two

Checked and comfirmed, Arrigato. Well played Bandai: No way I'm gonna get a stand for 80Yen anywhere notworthy.gif! Then again: Are those Bases sold seperately anywhere? The Legion of the Damned-Zaku is cool, but the assault-zaku is where it's at thumbup.gif Love the Gatling (Since Terminator 2 you know the sound!), the axe and those extra armor bits. I don't count on Bandai ever to release such a kit, but maybe MC ... or GoGo nod.gif

I really like the weathering it have and the small touch like cloth-lookalike on the bazooka

Mine work been a little tiring and my hand feel a bit numb now because have to paint the camo, took me hours on few days just to complete the camo on this Anti-MS Squad but haven't start with equipment and weapons yet. rclxub.gif Haven't touch the dio since i want to complete this first.

Wohohoo, a Desert-Type-Dom, me like rclxms.gif. Kudos for the modelling: smooth color-finish (cool color-choice BTW. Own design?), touch of battle-damage and decals that don't look like decals thumbup.gif .
Now where do I get such a backpack for my Desert-Domtropen... hmm.gif

Oh I can feel it. Starting off 2013 with a long awaited MG Wing MS are we Bandai? Now follow it up with Wing Zero! smile.gif

I'm loving how the Nu Gundam is looking too. That light grey with the white is very RG-ish, and please tell me those fin funnels mounts come with the kit. smile.gif

hmm the tallgeese is EW version, i guess Bandai is doing so to coincide with the manga. But the manga Wing Zero is actually the Custom version so if Bandai follow this trend, we may not get the TV version. Then again one could hope and dream........

then i got hope for RG aegis? tongue.gif

based on this manga, i heard this one is like reboot of Seed or adding the missing story arc for some minor character.

Yes, but MG WZC already exists, and if Bandai screws me over with a 2.0 of WZC instead of making WZ then i'm gonna be massively pissed.

Yeah i do understand WZ TV ver is highly anticipated by fans though personally for me Im not a huge fan of its design. I will however be massively piss if Bandai did not release HeavyArms Custom.

Since Tallgeese is basically a Leo with a different head, could we hav Leo pls?

neh, looks like MG AGE-1 Normal hands to me, interchangeable fingers with a thumb with knuckle joint

but wow, the details of the inner frame drool.gif
it could be just prototype parts, I don't see any die-cast metal parts, even the ankle joint hmm.gif
but awesome ankle joint design, a pivot ball type joint!! thumbup.gif

if Bandai doesn't make MG Heavyarms Custom it'll be extremely lazy on their part, since it's just a change of weapons sleep.gif

aint Tallgeese suppose to be taller than Leo? don't tell me it's the helmet crown that makes the difference sweat.gif

pretty much. In the anime, the original tallgeese even hav a leo head when it was first shown. The only real diff between leo n tallgeese is
1: color
2: shield
3: head
4: booster
5: minor shoulder armor changes
6. minor knee armor changes
7: minor sideskirt changes
8: minor ankle armor changes
8: dober gun

Its internal frame is practically the same actually.

If they do go back to Wing EW series, I believe they are most likely follow the NG models...The inevitable ones of course Talgeese, Nataku and all time favourite HA Custom...but can I have Serpent Custom pls (HA evil twin-gattling guns galore!)

I think Tallgeese's feet make up some of the difference, but the bulk of it is the headcrown.

2: shield
3: head
4: booster
5: minor shoulder armor changes
6. minor knee armor changes
7: minor sideskirt changes
8: minor ankle armor changes
8: dober gun

Its internal frame is practically the same actually.
*
QUOTE(TaurusOxford @ Oct 11 2012, 11:20 AM)
I think Tallgeese's feet make up some of the difference, but the bulk of it is the headcrown.
*
QUOTE(General_Nic @ Oct 11 2012, 11:27 AM)
that's because when FX enter burst mode it's like Trans-Am but instead of red it's all blue
just checked the stats and the difference in height is 1.2m
guess the neck joint and crown are the ones that add up the height
*
Tallgeese funfact: When assembling the ol' 1/100 HGEW Tallgeese III which comes with 1/100 parts to make tallgeese and tallgeese2, you'll find out that behind the Gundam-ish face of the Tallgeese1 is a flat Leo face, where you had to put on the blue square sticker for the main camera biggrin.gif

Are you referring to the light on its chest? IMO, having a LED on the chest of the Nu doesn't really makes sense, since its all covered up, unlike the Exia/Wing/00 variants.

f***yeah MG Tallgeese !! Now where do I preorder? Looks like it also comes with the removable helmet to reveal the Leo face.

Hope it also comes with the eagle decal for the shield although it wasn't present in the anime.

And at 3800 yen it's actually pretty cheap compared to the other MGs.

New Nu has a better looking internal frame but who cares when Tallgeese is around the corner.

The light in the chest goes up through the head, like 1/100 NG Seravee.

having LED on Nu itself doesn't make sense not just on the chest.

Nu is not a flashy kit it doesn't hav blink-blink or lightup chest like wing or exia, its funnels mayb but Bandai LED design wouldn't fit + it'll make it so heavy you can forget bout displaying it, thus it has no need of a LED gimmick. Why the hell did Bandai include 1, well to make the 7000yen seems more justifiable cuz the old Nu even with die cast parts doesn't cost nearly as much as this ver ka. Not to mention alot of us wont even use the LED, its a novelty that would wear off faster then u can say Hajime Katoki.

Actually, looking closer at the kit, i'm wrong. It doesn't light up the eyes, it lights up the green jewel on Nu's left shoulder.

The price is probably not just for the LED gimmick, but also for the included stand, which (correct me if I'm wrong) is not included in all previous ver Ka Gundams, and also maybe for the funnel mounts.

And why is Hi-Nu beside the Nu Gundam, I wonder hmm.gif

IMO it would be exclusive just like G-Defender/Flying Armor for RG MK-II Gundam
in fact those are only HGUC that are fit into RG

so i guess mega beam launcher you can get from HGUC Zeta
unless you like to pay more for exclusive

Oh wow, good eye. It even lights up the cockpit for the "newtype" effect. Say what you want about the price, but between the LED, the fin funnel holders, the RG-esque outer armor, and the most well-engineered inner frame i've ever seen, this thing is going to be a beautiful model even with minimal effort put into it.

Yes, agreed! That slightly larger looking head is gone from the old MG Nu. LOL. So, the price increase is probably for the LED and Display Stand with the Amuro logo (which I like). One more thing to wonder is, will it include die cast parts for the groin and legs as in the old MG Nu? hmm.gif

And just as I was about to forget about the RG line, that RG Zeta box art makes it even more hard to resist. laugh.gif

In the past the tech is not as well develop as such Bandai needed die cast parts to keep Nu stable, especially when all its funnel is stored on 1 side. Now that we hav crazy weight distribution (00 is prime example) and did not suffer much issue i dun think die cast is necessary anymore.

if not mistaken, each legend released got metallic parts (usually the v-fin)

Hmmm, there is even 2 tone/colour separation on the white and light grey...nice...

With decals, this will be RG level detail...

But too bad the yellow fins on the chest are not separated pieces like MG RX-78-2 ver. 1.5 or 2.0...for that price tag....looks like solid piece...

very nice bokeh effect. 1.8?

but the 2nd pic, the stand ruined it. maybe u can try clear base?

really feel like learning airbrush...is it very tedious and time consuming?
*
For me it about 50/50. The tedious part come when that you have to clean the airbrush at the end of every painting session and there different kind of method of cleaning depend on what you doing like changing paint and others and must have a mask since it very harmful to your health if smell to much paint fume. Also it took me a while to get the right mixture of paint & thinner for it smoothly flow through the airbrush. Even with those issue, i still use it since it give so much control over spray paint and for much cheaper paint on the long run. My Tamiya gunmetal spray is just enough for my Unicorn gundam innerframe while with airbrush, gunmetal bottle i have still have more left after use it for 2-3 kits + can mix your own paint.

Come Bandai, here.....take my money  brows.gif

The Nu gundam look so awesome and those fin funnel attachment look so much better than the clear beam that they use to which are bad for long term display.

One thing for sure this year end and early next year will sure pokai my wallet. sad.gif

More Tallgeese with closeup shots !!
http://www.toy-world.com.hk/forum/viewthre...&extra=page%3D1

Yay for fatass thighs !! Sweet.

Nay for gundam-styled dual eye look. This is the TG2 look, not TG !

Come on Bandai, Tallgeese is famous for the emotionless, eyeless look.

Dober gun seems to have some gimmick about a sliding mechanism at the rear end, most likely to accommodate the detachable ammo clip like the Unicorn's bazooka. The camera is a nice addition although the barrel could have been longer and a larger calibre.

Things I hope will happen:
1. Dober gun being able to pose underneath the arm pit like a rifle, or above the shoulder like a bazooka instead of hanging awkwardly on the shoulder.

2. Being able to hold the shield in the left hand like Gyan, attach it to the left forearm, and also position the shield high up on the left shoulder like Altron. Asking too much I guess.

3. Eagle decal for the shield !!

I don't think Nu Gundam is going to need anything besides the waterslide decals. Combined with the detail the plastic already has, those waterslides will be more than enough to flesh out the kit without making it look too cluttered.

Yeah it was very tedious and for me who don't like even a small error on placing make it avoid dry transfer like a plague and just wait someone made the waterslide version. And trying to put dry transfer on Sinanju must be a nightmare. rclxub.gif

I don't think it's Tallgeese 2 either, look at it's crown and the 'ahem' crotch design.
The EW version should be referring to Tallgeese 3, but it's missing the whiplash.
But without color, seems quite hard to determine which one hmm.gif

I don't think it's Tallgeese 2 either, look at it's crown and the 'ahem' crotch design.
The EW version should be referring to Tallgeese 3, but it's missing the whiplash.
But without color, seems quite hard to determine which one  hmm.gif
*
It's Tallgeese1. That's not the "Gundam dual-eyes", Tallgeese has a recessed visor that looks like a thinner version of Quattro's sunglasses

So when viewed from a higher perspective the helmet will make it looks like 2 eyes instead of a continuous visor
The MG Wing series had always been refered to as EW smile.gif

Where can I buy a CR1220 battery for my Astray head LED?
Tried 2 watch shops in my area, none of them stock it.

Here's a pic of the head I took for fun:

What I meant was the eyepiece which resembles TG2's gundam eyes rather than TG1's robocop styled sensor. The crotch design doesn't really differentiate between the different TGs too since all of them share the same body and limbs, where the TG3 has larger shoulder armours.

The EW label is due to the fact that the other W MGs are based on Katoki's alternate designs which are being used in the recent mangas. Speaking of which, the Tallgeese in the manga actually carries a lance and I'm glad they didn't include that. Doesn't really fit in anyway.

And thank god Bandai didn't use Katoki's Zechs custom Leo design as the ver Ka. Tallgeese.

The SD TG1 had the dual eye look (without eyes of course, just the shape) while the HG 1/100 kit and the anime had horizontal slits like robocop or cyclops.

But even if the MG came with a dual eye look, it'll be easy to fix with a small file and sharp blade.

The Nu gundam look so awesome and those fin funnel attachment look so much better than the clear beam that they use to which are bad for long term display.

One thing for sure this year end and early next year will sure pokai my wallet.  sad.gif

sounds like very tedious =_= guess i will stick to my straight build for now.

do u guys do panel line (white? silver?) for black gundam like BLITZ?

Not if they have quality rivals of those PG-like hands.
My experience with them are quite satisfying, so I have quite a strong confidence in them.

I'm guessing he means the faceplate. Just put the two pieces on the head and dab some superglue on them.

How did u broke it anyway the faceplate is quite sturdy unless ur talking bout the moustache. Anyway attach a pic so we can see where it broke b4 we can advise u further. But generally the solutions is either super glue or plastic cement then sand it down + scrib back the panel line if needed.

most likely to be released as part of the system weapon sets. To release only the hyper mega launcher as an exclusive seems a bit pointless even for bandai

PG Freedom? u meant SF with the gold blink-blink? Not worth your money, u may think that for that amount of money u'll get full gold plated frame but no, Bandai still giv u puke gold and only chrome plated gold on certain parts. Infact if ur a newbie i would advise u to stay away from PG.

If u insist on getting a PG, i'll say go for strike or astray. Those 2 are the best PG so far.

Just an advice, as a starter you should learn to assemble High Grade first and learn all the basics to construct gunpla. In my opinion, PG are good looking and nice articulation but not easy for a beginner, mostly experienced pro modeler will build it. It will be such a waste if you can't build it nicely or even break it... Why don't you try MG Strike Freedom/SF Full Burst Mode? Anyway, wish you good luck if you still insist to get PG Strike Freedom.

quite frankly PG Strike Freedom is a waste of money, from what i can see.. the MG SF Full Burst Mode is definitely more worth the money spent.. since the PG does not really have that many gimmicks or accessories

Frankly to say, Strike Freedom's design is a flaw by itself, especially the the wings
you've got to give credit to Bandai for able to jam all those mechanisms in the wings
but it's just hard to fight against gravity

btw, Bandai's really making use of RG Strike

I wouldn't even bother with MG Strike Freedom Full Burst Mode. One extra plate of chrome gold and shitty plastic rods that can't support the weight of the dragoons is not worth the extra money.

It's not self installed, the eyes does light up, but I think the color changed though...
anyway, PG SF is not as much fun as it's predecessors, for me, it's just like a collectors item, definitely not for beginners.
As I'd say this before, if you buy such an expensive item and should you, touch wood, screw up, you will lose all your interest in gunpla, with immediate effect.
Sifus here are all very experience, starting from HG or MG is a good way to start gunpla, not with PGs.

That was i hoping actually but haven't found the normal white glint anywhere but found some that have VOB set. Also i planning to do some shading anyway so it will cover up that pearl coating.

I afraid it's gotta be super complicated, he used atleast 3 different types of metallic color for the inner frame. So far I can only identify:

1. Bright Silver
2. Darker Silver (Champagne color??)
3. Bronze (or gold?)
4. Gun metal (Basic inner frame)
Armor should be:

1. Phantom gray
2. Titan blue (Can buy the pre-mixed one, GUndam color spray. Judge by the look, 1 can should be enough, or at most 2 cans)
3. White
4. Navy blue (for Aile Striker)

OMG poison poison !!!!!!!!!!!!

no no no. the old MG Zeta Plus and the relatively newer MG Zeta v2.0 doesn't have such gear gimmick. their v-fins are foldable, but individually and simple swinging joint only sweat.gif

The HG version would definitely fix alot of the MG problems, especially the waist keep collapsing due to the weight of the upper body and the knee armor refusing to stay lock-in to the psychoframe. Also hopefully the external booster could be place at a lower angle, the MG ones looks abit weird like its impaled by it. Also hope Bandai would actually provide a base rather then those completely useless booster holder.

I was thinking it a mix of gunmetal and silver because it certainly look much more lighter than Gaia gunmetal that i have even tho i see a hint of gold or yellow in it

Yeah the waist certainly a problem for mine and i probably just glue it or replace it with a rod from a tutorial i see in a magazine. Don't really like it have that booster tank at all, it just too big and cumbersome to move around and take alot of back space unlike the one in Sinanju and the action base connector just suck because for me for some reason it don't want to click in and just want to topple forward or backward whenever i try to move it.

Not until Bandai makes me a TV Wing Zero. wink.gif

Thankfully, the shield is salvageable, mainly cause Wing ver ka's boxart pose hardly has the shield in view so I can still make it work.

This. I guess that maybe Bandai wants people to pair this up with RG since the amount of details of Weapons System are very nice if used with any RG.

But that is my conspiracy theory-lah. Maybe in the future, who knows brows.gif

maybe because its intended for customizing gunpla builders kits. and if you notice, all the gunpla builders kits (bearguy, byaku shiki etc) are all in 1/144 scale

I just bought a CR1220 battery for the LEDs for RM10. Is that normal price?

I do see that these are the batteries for watch and watch shop also normally charge around that range to change battery.

as for MG Tallgeese, someone mentioned earlier it's having the Tallgeese III face instead of the original TV Tallgeese I camera face like Leo
base on this photo I'm thinkin you may have an option to use either, since the Leo camera face is just right inside

judging on how the current market is, Zeta Plus A1&C1 wouldn't be profitable coz even the Z Plus shared the similar transformation mechanism, there some parts that are different, mainly the wing binders and the side skirt armors, plus they still need to make several new molds to make the external panels. as per "web exclusive" means that it'll only be made into a small batch, which also raised the cost and also selling price.

this, however, might have a chance brows.gif

those ""EXCLUSIVE" items are sometimes jz milking their mould as all of them are the same mould with normal version..for us maybe its harder to repaint the normal version to exclusive color scheme but for them they are jz changing their plastic material color which cost them extremely little
thats how they find $$$ mad.gif
the most pro thing can be seen from them is the aile strike gundam without the aile striker LOL
double price but less items and exactly the same color even whistling.gif

laugh.gif what do you expect bro, those online exclusive are targeted towards the japan fan-base and they dont provide shipment outside of japan
that is why it is more expensive since need to go through 3rd person

as for the White Unicorn Zeta wub.gif wub.gif
price double also I dont care if they do released it (still below 200) since the MG version is too expensive for me nowadays and I dont intend to learn painting anytime soon yet

The complain was the eye slit rather then the face if im not mistaken, the face between the 3 geese are vastly different and the MG clearly had the geese1 face. The MG eye slit seems to hav that angular shape in the middle like gundam (from pic its abit hard to c but it does look like it has that angular look) where as the tv version the slit is straight like x-men cyclops. But its easily fix imho, just sand the top part of the face plate and woila.

IMO the Zeta 3 has a better chance of being released if Bandai ever wanted to milk the RG Zeta by changing its colour scheme, since UC era ain't got no "Phase Shift Armor down" or "Deactivate Mode" kinda stuff laugh.gif

Added on October 16, 2012, 1:47 amReview Part 1: 1/100 RX-78-2 ver. GP30th 945SHG - Inner Frame(legs)

Front shot: http://i.imgur.com/ByW1Il.jpg
Side shot: http://i.imgur.com/OR59Rl.jpg
Back shot: http://i.imgur.com/8YhBMl.jpg

http://i.imgur.com/ZYWfUl.jpg - showing off the detail in the feet here. One of them has already been panel lined with some detail added to the thrusters.

http://i.imgur.com/vMHRsl.jpg - Can do the full splits, but the joint is a little weak and the leg will droop due to its own weight.

http://i.imgur.com/xIse5l.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/gy75Wl.jpg - Front and back however, the joint is very strong and can easily support the weight of the leg.

http://i.imgur.com/5aug0l.jpg - it's not 00 Raiser, but the RX-78-2 is still no slouch at limbo

http://i.imgur.com/nWxFIl.jpg - A very respectable distance between the feet and still flat on both feet.

http://i.imgur.com/J6KZGl.jpg - A very nice knee bend, and the knee joint can easily support it.

http://i.imgur.com/wNToPl.jpg - Finally, a good amount of ankle articulation.

Overall, quite impressed so far. You're basically unlimited in whatever pose you want to put the legs in, and the metal is quite heavy and greatly increases the stability of the kit if you choose to have him standing without an action base.
