You mean brew pressure? Brew pressure is standard 15 bar for all home coffee machines.. If steaming pressure, slow steaming is more consistent, and easier to grasp smile.gif

I suggest you get them yourself.. or try looking for some coffee house.. but they wouldn't know what sort of grind settings suitable for you..

I guess it's quite difficult to get your beans grounded unless you're buying beans from the coffee houses.. If your grind setting is not too fine, I'd suggest you use a blender and set it to "liquify" and grind away hmm.gif

Oh.. if it lets you set the temperature, it's really good! Yeah, I heard about Breville's steaming takes time but it gives very consistent micro foam. I think as you get the hang of it, can try higher temperature biggrin.gif
I saw this promo during the weekend and it has a free pitcher too. I think it's a great machine to start with as it comes with a built-in stepped grinder, tamper, pitcher, 58mm PF, and baskets. Pretty much everything you need to start your journey haha. If you were to minus out the basic conical burr grinder cost (maybe around RM1000?), means the whole machine only costs RM1799. It's quite a steal smile.gif

hi hi.. i think i am 90% going to buy the breville 870 but can you advise how does the 54 mm portfilter on this machine differ from the commercial size of 58mm? the breville dual boiler is 58 mm.. but 870 is 54 mm .. we cant change n use 58 mm on the breville 870 right?

this is the one reason i am not buying yet..

the gaggia classic is selling at 2680 at ETC and this breville can be get at around 2600.. really really difficult to choose? sad.gif

most probably i will get the breville. . thanks in adv..

Oh its 54mm PF? Actually, when done right, the results in the cup is the same.. The only difference in a standard 58mm PF is the range of baskets you could get and other commercial PF.. But if you're just looking for a great cup of coffee made on your own, it doesn't matter. The Breville comes with 2 pressurized baskets, and 2 non pressurized ones?

You can still get filter baskets and tamper with 53-54 mm diameter.

I know quite a number of people that uses 49mm PF machines and pulling awesome shots biggrin.gif

Hi all Coffee expert,

I wish to ask some question regarding coffee, i not sure my understanding is true or i have wrong info.

1. Blue Mountain coffee expensive because limited supply and the price so expensive because of HongKong people causing it so expensive. It not the best coffee in the world but more just like branded bean only.

2. Kopi luwak mostly we get is not the real wild kopi luwak. Most of them sell to super rich middle east king and VVIP. If really wish to try kopi luwak, need to go to indonesia and find local people pick for you. I hear that the 1 of the coffee shop in Penang boss flight to Indonesia yearly to get the kopi luwak him self by getting local people to collect for him and ship the bean back to penang to roast it him self. Limited cup available for sell and cost RM50 per cup (5 years ago price).

I'm by no means an expert but I'll try to answer your questions.

1. Blue mountain coffee comes from Jamaica. Not sure how is it related to HK.
Read this - http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/article...licensed-seller

2. I strongly suggest not supporting kopi luwak because it's super overrated and overpriced. With RM50 a cup you could get some seriously great single origin coffees at good cafes around Msia.

I second this statement.. Kopi Luwak is seriously overrated and I can't make any sense the purpose of drinking it.. It doesn't taste good, it's muddy and dull with no acidity. It's just a cup of s**t coffee lol.

What i know also hear from other.
I personally never try before but the person tell me all this tried it before at penang as the boss of the coffee shop is his friend.

The person who tell me this say Kopi Luwak is really a nice coffee if it meet certain criteria:-
1. Must be wild - So the Civet cat know which is the best bean to eat among all the coffee tree in that huge area. Their digestion system is better than caged civet.
2. Expensive - because the Civet cat only pass out the bean with shit in the timing between 3 to 5 am. Indonesia is a tropical country and rain a lot. So when the civet cat processed bean contact with water, it will spoil. So the job to collect the bean is super super super hard as the cat run across the whole forest.
3. Many fake, caged civet car or civet cat farm that actually unable to produce the best bean. That why many people unable to drink the authentic Kopi Luwak.
4. The best way to enjoy Kopi Luwak is by direct roast it, smash it and boil direct. No filter or western style.

Many of the expensive item price jacked up HongKie. Item that i know:-
1. Pu-er tea
2. Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee Bean
3. Red Wine
4. Abalone
5. Bird Nest
6. The list still going on.........

What defines good coffee is the type of beans selected, the nutrient content, the roasting and the brewing. The reason why most coffee enthusiasts despise civet coffee is because the coffee is crap, and it's just that. Good coffee can be bright, light, nutty, chocolaty, sour, sweet.. But never muddy.. Muddy and dull is usually if you brew incorrectly or something went wrong somewhere. The closest example would be drinking stale beans.. But even then, stale coffee tastes better than civet coffee..

If they said drinking proper Kopi Luwak gives you a better after taste, they're wrong.. Wild or caged, I just think that it's just some Over hyped BS.

I personally have tried the so called original Luwak and I must say, with all the money in the world.. I won't go for another second cup.
